  • Sending commands to a console program from Visual Basic 6

    I have a console program on windows (a compiled version of curl command line) in where you can write commands and have a return. How can i send commands to this console application and return the result to VB6??? i know you can do this with DOS commands with Windows Script Host but as you see the commands i want to run dont are in command.exe Thanks!

  • Cakephp ACL authentication issue - I'm locked out

    I've followed the CakePHP Cookbook ACL tutorial And as of right now I'm just trying to add users using the scaffolding method. I'm trying to go to /users/add but it always redirects me to the login screen even though I have added $this->Auth->allow('*'); in beforeFilter() temporarily to allow access to all pages. I've done this in both the UsersController and GroupsController as the tutorial asked. Below is my code for UsersController which I think will be the most relevant of all the files. Let me know if any other piece of code is required. <?php class UsersController extends AppController { var $name = 'Users'; var $scaffold; function beforeFilter() { parent::beforeFilter(); $this->Auth->allow('*'); } function login() { //Auth Magic } function logout() { //Leave empty for now. } } ?> I think I've pretty much followed the tutorial, any ideas as to what I may be missing?   • Checking Drupal authentication from external PHP

    This may well be simple, but I'm new to Drupal. The organization I work for switched to Drupal a little while ago, but there's still some legacy code in various external PHP files that would be cumbersome to convert over to work within Drupal. However, it would be very nice to be able to restrict access to some of these pages based on a person being authenticated against Drupal. (Some pages are administrative and are currently visible to anyone who knows the URL, for instance. Yes, poor design, but that's what I inherited...) How can I check with Drupal, from an external PHP file, to see if the person visiting a given page has authenticated?

  • Facebook Connect for simple authentication?

    Hi I have an ASP.net website which I want to introduce 'Facebook Connect' functionality into, purely for account login/creation purposes. I want a user to be able to click the 'Login using Facebook' type button, and to then log that user into my website based on a userid lookup from the Facebook response. I have a couple of questions surrounding this: Presumeably I can do all of this using the Facebook API - without the need for an actual pretty public facing 'application' on Facebook? I simply want to utilise the Facebook API for authenticating an account. I'm not interested in creating some app for doing something 'within' facebook itself. I have located some code snippets online and tried using the Facebook Developer Toolkit, calling the getInfo method, and whilst it does come back to my website with a uid, none of the other user information is present within the response, like Email, Name etc. The uid is the only populated field in the response.     Trying to implements simple privileges for admin user. Don't need huge acl rules and groups system. There are admin users, overs - just registered users. They can't access actions with admin prefix. So It was implemented in cakephp1.2 version with following code in app_controller: function isAuthorized() { if (isset($this->params[Configure::read('Routing.admin')])) { if ($this->Auth->user('admin') != 1) { return false; } } return true; } But in 1.3 Routing.admin had been deprecated. How to rewrite it for use with 1.3 framework? Need some help.

    I have a web application running on Google App Engine (GAE) for JAVA. I'm authenticating the client at the Servlet layer but would like to make the client information available to my business and data layers without having to pass the client object through the arguments of every single function. I'm considering setting up a "session" type object using ThreadLocal. That way any function can just say something like: CurrentUser.getRoles(); Is this a good way to do this or is there something else that is a more accepted solution? Thanks!

The idea is that we want to tie in a 'buddy' functionality to a communications app. Very broadly, I believe that the application clients would connect to a central database/auth service which would provide the buddy data and then allow client apps to connect directly to eachother, without passing communications through the server. Specifically, however, what solutions, software, products, servers, technologies, etc would be best to implement to handle such a task?     We are in the process of revamping our server side API, and we need to manage security. Our current model requires that a credentials object (containing user, password, and pin) be included in each method invocation. Our development team, however, has decided that we should have session objects instead (which is fine by me), but the new credentials are just a GUID. This is very different from what I've seen in other APIs in our industry, so I'm a bit concerned about how secure the new model will be. I asked them if they had analyzed both alternatives, and they said they haven't. Does anyone know if there're any clear advantages, disadvantages, risks, etc. of using a set of credentials versus just one element (complex as it may be)? PS: the communication channel would be secure in either case, and it's separate from this particular topic

Database contains no sensitive info, just test tables, and is visible only from 127.0.0.1 I want phpMyAdmin already be logged in as root user with password 1234 (for example) when I open it. How do I do that? P.S. Saving password in a browser is not what I want.

I'd be happy to use OAuth, possibly with a 'Sign in with Twitter' button, but this then takes the user to a page which requests authorization for the application, that I wish to avoid.     I have a table "users" and I want to enable my visitors to login with their openID Account. For this I use the OpenId Component for Cakephp and it works fine (When I login with the Google URL I receive the "successfully authenticated!" notification). But now I'm kind of stuck because I don't know how to go on from there. Do I have to create a User-Entry for every user which has a new entry in the "oid_associations" table (I save all OpenId interaction in the mysql database)? Do I have to authenticate the User after the login (or is the OpenID-component doing that automatically?). Am I completely misunderstanding the concept?

And what i found was that CanCan should be the best solution. But i'm unsure if CanCan can manage my needs, like i want a forum moderator who can edit/destroy the topic, but the user who created the topic should also be able to edit, so how can i do that?     Hi, I've been working with a Legacy application which interacts with a database through ADODB, and most of the changes to records follow a fairly straightforward pattern of: Create a Recordset from a query Make various change to the recordset call .Update on the recordset. What I'm wondering is, with ADODB recordsets, is there anyway to extract the 'changes'. The logic which changes the recordset is scattered about, and all I need is the changes, not how it was changed... Any suggestions for tracking changes in a recordset (in code, a trigger on the DB or similar is no use here) Thanks in advance

    I have been given a task to: Develop a program where a child will be presented with picture of a fruit (one of five possible fruit) on the screen at the click of a start button. The child will then try to recognise the fruit and write its name in a specified place on the screen. On the click of a check button the name of the fruit written by the child will be checked by your program and if correct will reward the child with a suitable message. If the name presented by the child is not correct, a suitable message should be presented on a red background with the correct name of the fruit included in the message. so far I have managed to create a form with 5 different fruit pictures and a text box below them. a button at the bottom of the form then checks the results and presents a message box to tell them if they have passed or failed.
