  • Is there a way to sort by more than one field in Crystal Reports?

    - by John at CashCommons
I'm using Crystal Report with VB.NET in Visual Studio 2005. I have report that works if I pass in a list of List(Of Stuff). I had been sorting the report by one of the members of Stuff but a need now to sort first by one member, like Stuff.StatusCode and then by another member, like Stuff.ItemNumber. Can I do this just be having more than one SortField member, or do I need to do it some other way? Thanks as always!

  • How can I sort an array, yet exclude certain elements (to be kept at the same position in the array)

    - by calumbrodie
This will be implemented in Javascript (jQuery) but I suppose the method could be used in any language. I have an array of items and I need to perform a sort. However there are some items in the array that have to be kept in the same position (same index). The array in question is build from a list of <li> elements and I'm using .data() values attached to the list item as the value on which to sort. What approach would be best here? <ul id="fruit"> <li class="stay">bananas</li> <li>oranges</li> <li>pears</li> <li>apples</li> <li class="stay">grapes</li> <li>pineapples</li> </ul> <script type="text/javascript"> var sugarcontent = new Array('32','21','11','45','8','99'); $('#fruit li').each(function(i,e){ $(this).data(sugarcontent[i]); }) </script> I want the list sorted with the following result... <ul id="fruit"> <li class="stay">bananas</li> <!-- score = 32 --> <li>pineapples</li> <!-- score = 99 --> <li>apples</li> <!-- score = 45 --> <li>oranges</li> <!-- score = 21 --> <li class="stay">grapes</li> <!-- score = 8 --> <li>pears</li> <!-- score = 11 --> </ul> Thanks!

  • NSFetchedResultsController sections localized sorted

    - by Gerd
How could I use the NSFetchedResultsController with translated sort key and sectionKeyPath? Problem: I have ID in the property "type" in the database like typeA, typeB, typeC,... and not the value directly because it should be localized. In English typeA=Bird, typeB=Cat, typeC=Dog in German it would be Vogel, Katze, Hund. With a NSFetchedResultController with sort key and sectionKeyPath on "type" I receive the order and sections - typeA - typeB - typeC Next I translate for display and everything is fine in English: - Bird - Cat - Dog Now I switch to German and receive a wrong sort order - Vogel - Katze - Hund because it still sorts by typeA, typeB, typeC So I'm looking for a way to localize the sort for the NSFetchedResultsController. I tried the transient property approach, but this doesn't work for the sort key because the sort key need to be in the entity. I have no other idea. But I can't believe that's not possible to use NSFetchedResultsController on a derived attribute required for localization? There are related discussions like http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1384345/using-custom-sections-with-nsfetchedresultscontroller but the difference is that the custom section names and the sort key have probably the same order. Not in my case and this is the main difference. At the end I would need a sort order for the necessary NSSortDescriptor on a derived attribute, I guess. This sort order has also to serve for the sectionKeyPath. Thanks for any hint.

  • I need to take an array of three lines in a text file and sort them base on the first line in Java.

    - by Cory
I need to take an array of three lines in a text file and sort them base on the first line in Java. I also need to manipulate this as well and then print to screen. I have a test file that is formatted like this: 10 Michael Jackson 12 Richard Woolsey I need to input this from a text file and then rearrange it based on the number associated with the name. At that point, I need to use a random number generator and assign a variable based on the random number to each name. Then I need to print to screen the variable I added and the name in a different format. Here is an example of the output: 12: Woolsey, Richard Variable assigned 10: Jackson, Michael Other variable assigned I highly appreciate any help. I ask because I do not really know how to input the three lines as one variable and then manipulate later on in the program. Thanks, Cory

  • PHP: go back to the start of loop using a sort of 'break' ?

    - by matthy
Hi i have a loop and i was wondering if there was a command that you can jump back to the start of the loop and ignore the rest of the code in the loop example: for ($index = 0; $index < 10; $index++) { if ($index == 6) that command to go the start of the loop echo "$index, "; } should output 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9 and skip the six sort of same result as for ($index = 0; $index < 10; $index++) { if ($index != 6) echo "$index, "; } is there a command for that? thanks, matthy

  • Best way to sort MySql results based on two columns and show results using pagination?

    - by understack
I want to sort results set first based on one column and then based on second column. I know how to do it on server side. And then I want to show these results with pagination feature. Question: would it be better to do it on client side via ajax in jQuery? I'm using Zend Framework. Would Zend_Paginator module be useful in this scenario? Basically I want to evaluate all the possible ways? Which one would be best and/or simplest option given I'm using jQuery and Zend Framework?

  • How do I sort in solr by term frequency in multiple fields?

    - by user1488380
I have been assigned a task that I should change our solr search to sort a list returned by solr by using the term frequency. Well, I´ve found a way to do so simply by using omitNorms="true". The problem is, that this won´t work when I am doing a field - search, say by name: q=name:jones Following this example I get a list of document whose term frequency is the highest for the "name" field. But What I wanted to achieve is to have a query that is giving my a list of documents whose term frequency is the highest for ALL fields. Example: If a User named Jones also has the word "Jones" in his biography 10 times I want that document ranked higher. Is that possible ?

  • How should I do custom sort in Python 3?

    - by S.Mark
In Python 2.x, I could pass custom function to sorted and .sort functions >>> x=['kar','htar','har','ar'] >>> >>> sorted(x) ['ar', 'har', 'htar', 'kar'] >>> >>> sorted(x,cmp=customsort) ['kar', 'htar', 'har', 'ar'] Because, in My language, consonents are comes with this order "k","kh",....,"ht",..."h",...,"a" But In Python 3.x, looks like I could not pass cmp keyword >>> sorted(x,cmp=customsort) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> TypeError: 'cmp' is an invalid keyword argument for this function Is there any alternatives or should I write my own sorted function too?

  • How to move an element in a sorted list and keep the CouchDb write "atomic"

    - by karlthorwald
I have elements of a list in couchdb documents. Let's say these are 3 elements in 3 documents: { "id" : "783587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "joey", "sort" : 100.0 } { "id" : "358734ff6", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jill", "sort" : 110.0 } { "id" : "abf587346", "type" : "aList", "content" : "jack", "sort" : 120.0 } A view retrieves all "aList" documents and displays them sorted by "sort". Now I want to move the elements, when I want to move "jack" to the middle, I could do this atomic in one write and change it's sort key to 105.0. The view now returns the documents in the new sort order. After a lot of sorting I could end up with sort keys like 50.99999 and 50.99998 after some years and in extreme situations run out of digits? What can you recommend, is there a better way to do this? I'd rather keep the elements in seperate documents. Different users might edit different elements in parallel (which also can get tricky). Maybe there is a much better way?

  • How can I sort a Perl array of array of hashes?

    - by srk
    @aoaoh; $aoaoh[0][0]{21} = 31; $aoaoh[0][0]{22} = 31; $aoaoh[0][0]{23} = 17; for $k (0 .. $#aoaoh) { for $i(0.. $#aoaoh) { for $val (keys %{$aoaoh[$i][$k]}) { print "$val=$aoaoh[$i][$k]{$val}\n"; } } } The output is: 22=31 21=31 23=17 but i expect it to be 21=31 22=31 23=17 Please tell me where is this wrong. Also how do I sort the values so that i get the output as 23=17 22=31 21=31 (if 2 keys have same value then key with higher value come first)

  • In Haskell, how can you sort a list of infinite lists of strings?

    - by HaskellNoob
So basically, if I have a (finite or infinite) list of (finite or infinite) lists of strings, is it possible to sort the list by length first and then by lexicographic order, excluding duplicates? A sample input/output would be: Input: [["a", "b",...], ["a", "aa", "aaa"], ["b", "bb", "bbb",...], ...] Output: ["a", "b", "aa", "bb", "aaa", "bbb", ...] I know that the input list is not a valid haskell expression but suppose that there is an input like that. I tried using merge algorithm but it tends to hang on the inputs that I give it. Can somebody explain and show a decent sorting function that can do this? If there isn't any function like that, can you explain why? In case somebody didn't understand what I meant by the sorting order, I meant that shortest length strings are sorted first AND if one or more strings are of same length then they are sorted using < operator. Thanks!

  • How to add sort function for the table via ajax in ASP.NET MVC?What is the best practice.

    - by Eric Wang
How to add sort function for the table via ajax in ASP.NET MVC?What is the best practice. If not use Ajax, it maybe much easier, just return View, but if use AJAX, what data structure should return?I just use Json to return the data, but i found each JSON data model return to the client browser, the JS have to use different code to parse it, remove the originally table rows, add the new data rows(because the column is different) etc. It make me crazy, is there any better way to do that? Thank you for any advice.

  • how sort recursively by maximum fileze and counts files type?

    - by user599395
Hello! I'm beginner in bash programming. I want to display head -n $1 results of sorting files by size in /etc/*. The problem is that at final search, I must know how many directories and files has processed. I compose following code: #!/bash/bin let countF=0; let countD=0; for file in $(du -sk /etc/* |sort +0n | head $1); do if [ -f "file" ] then echo $file; let countF=countF+1; else if [ -d "file" ] then let countD=countD+1; fi done echo $countF echo $countD I have errors at execution. How use find with du, because I must search recursively?
