• base 64 URL decode with Ruby/Rails?

  I am working with the Facebook API and Ruby on Rails and I'm trying to parse the JSON that comes back. The problem I'm running into is that Facebook base64URL encodes their data. There is no built-in base64URL decode for Ruby. For the difference between a base64 encoded and base64URL encoded, see wikipedia. How do I decode this using Ruby/Rails? • floating point precision in ruby on rails model validations

  Hello I am trying to validate a dollar amount using a regex: ^[0-9]+\.[0-9]{2}$ This works fine, but whenever a user submits the form and the dollar amount ends in 0(zero), ruby(or rails?) chops the 0 off. So 500.00 turns into 500.0 thus failing the regex validation. Is there any way to make ruby/rails keep the format entered by the user, regardless of trailing zeros?

  I upgraded to Snow Leopard using the disc we got at WWDC. Trying to run some of my rails apps now complains about sql (in /Users/coneybeare/Projects/Ambiance/ambiance-server) !!! The bundled mysql.rb driver has been removed from Rails 2.2. Please install the mysql gem and try again: gem install mysql.   In Rails 'helper :all' makes all your helpers 'available' to all your controllers. This is concise and convenient, but does it have any memory and/or performance implications compared to explicitly calling the helpers that each controller actually needs? It's unclear form the docs whether using it involves 'require'ing all those files, or whether autoload is being used. I can't tell from the source in the Rails framework docs. thanks

  Hey, I'm trying to achieve URLs like this in Rails: http://localhost/posts/1234/post-slug-name with both ID and slug name instead of either http://localhost/posts/1234 or http://localhost/posts/post-slug-name (right now I have just slug name in URL, so this part is over). How can I do this? UPD I found an article on this: http://augustl.heroku.com/blog/styling-rails-urls, instead of /id/slug it suggests to use /id-slug which works perfectly for me, so I'll go with this.

  using the delcarative_authorization gem for rails, is there a shortcut to allow a role access to all controller actions? privileges do # default privilege hierarchies to facilitate RESTful Rails apps privilege :manage, :includes => [:create, :read, :update, :delete] end isn't sufficient, because I have more controlling methods than just CRUD in my controllers. Something like: role :foo do has_permission_on :bar, :to =>[:all] end would be perfect, but I'm not finding it in the docs.

  I have a rails application that allows searches using longitude and latitude. I have added a 'pretty' route with: map.connect 'stores/near/:longitude/:latitude', :controller => 'stores', :action => 'index' This works for integer latitude and longitude values (http://localhost:3000/stores/near/-88/49) but fails for decimal values (http://localhost:3000/stores/near/-88.341/49.123) giving: Routing Error No route matches "/stores/near/-88/49.0" with {:method=>:get} Any ideas how to use pretty URLs in rails with decimals?
