    A generic method is defined as follows: private static T GetComparisonObject<T>(ComparisonAttribute attribute, object objectToParse) { // Perform a some action return (T)resultObject; } The method is invoked as follows: var srcObjectToCompare = GetComparisonObject<DynamicType>(attributeToCompare, srcObject); The type for which the method needs to be invoked is configured in the config file as: <add attributename ="Count" attributetype ="MemberInformation" attributeparam ="Count" type="System.Int32" comparertype="ditCreditEMGTestAutomationDifferenceEngine.Comparers.TypeComparer, ditCreditEMGTestAutomationDifferenceEngine.dll" /> The token that is passed in < for the generic methods has to be the type for which the method is being invoked. From the type key configuration in the XML, an instance of Type represnting the type can be created{i.e. Type.GetType("System.Int32")}, but how can the Type Definition be generated which can then be passed to the the Generic method?     I have entities similar to: ProductLine: id, name ProductLineContents: content_id, product_line_id Content: id, text, updated_time What I'd like to do is: for each product line, get the latest content (so if theres two content entries associated to one product line, the latest updated_time is rturned, and if one content item is associated to two product lines, it is returned twice). Something similar to: select content.* from productline inner join productlinecontents inner join content; However I can't seem to figure out how to have Hibernate Criteria return a different entity than the original one it was created with. So if I wanted to start the criteria at the product line with createCriteria(ProductLine.class) along with the proper joins, then it only returns ProductLine objects, but I need Content objects. What's the best way to accomplish this? The actual data model is much more complex and can't be modified

    So, for instance facebook's search bar has faint word that says "search", but when you click on the bar, it becomes blank and you may begin typing, when you click away the "search" goes back. Similarly, SO's ask a question title box has faint words that go away when you start typing. I'm not too sure what this effect is called, but I'm wondering if theres a jQuery plugin that helps to achieve this. This isn't particularly difficult to program, but I thought why reinvent the wheel if someone already made a plugin for it.

    When you look at your stream on the Facebook website, events such as "FriendX was tagged in an album", "FriendY is attending EventZ", and "FriendK and FriendL are now friends". I've tried various "vague" queries on the stream table, and so far I have been unable to get these types of events. Is this possible, or do I need to query the all of the other tables and write a ton of logic to try to figure out which new events to show and how to show them?

I get this: [object Object],[object Object],[object Object] How can i change this into a correct way to use it in the fields? Is there a way to check if the model has been created? With Firebug or something?     Psuedo code for mapping configuration (as below) is not possible since the lambda only lets us access Type IDataReader, wheras when actually mapping, AutoMapper will reach into each "cell" of each IDataRecord while IDataReader.Read() == true: var mappingConfig = Mapper.CreateMap<IDataReader, IEnumerable<MyDTO>>(); mappingConfig.ForMember( destination => destination.???, options => options.MapFrom(source => source.???)); Can anyone think of a way to do this using AutoMapper configuration at runtime or just some other dynamic approach that meets the requirement below. The requirement is to support any incoming IDataReader which may have column names that don't match the property names of MyDTO and there is no naming convention I can rely on. Instead we'll ask the user at runtime to cross-reference the expected column names with the actual column names found in the IDataReader via IDataReader.GetSchemaTable().

    Is it possible to create a script/live distro that replaces some system32 files? To explain it a bit more in details: There is a company that has multiple computers (think in 100/1000's) and they all are missing the same system32 files since the company's software removed it. The systems are distributed all over the world and are managed by "normal" people who don't have any knowledge about computers. I want to create a usb stick that i can mail to all those people which contains a script that executes when you boot the usb. this script should replace the missing system32 files without any user input is this possible, and if so how could i manage this?

Running sp.getFloat("sample", 3.0f) throws a ClassCastException because it is a string. What should I put in the XML so that the preference is stored as a float?

    So, I was just digging around Reflector trying to find the implementation details of HashSet (out of sheer curiosity based on the answer to another question here) and noticed the following: internal class TreeSet<T> : ICollection<T>, IEnumerable<T>, ICollection, IEnumerable, ISerializable, IDeserializationCallback Without looking too deep into the details, it looks like a Self-Balancing Binary Search Tree. My question is, is there anybody out there with the insight as to why this class is internal? Is it simply because the other collection types use it internally and hide the complexities of a BST from the general masses...or am I way off base?

It would be so simple in RelaxNG - but RelaxNG doesn't support key integrity :( Is there a way to implement this in XSD? Note: XML schema version 1.1 supports <xs:alternative>, which might be a solution, but afaik no reference implementation (e.g. libxml2) supports this yet. So I'm searching for workarounds.
