  Hi All, I have a silverlight application, that I want to calculate page load time through C# using Fiddler API. Could you please share some useful guidelines how I can do it using fiddler/fiddlercore. Here are some details what I want to do... Launch fiddler and launch IE (without using httpweb request) Load my application url. Calculate page load time Earlier I tried to use httpwatch API to calculate it. Httpwatch do all these stuffs, but it doesn't calculate the silverlight component load time. Please help. Thanks, Pritam

• .htaccess redirect to error page if port is not 80

  I'm running a portable server through usb stick. The thing is I also have WAMP installed in my local machine and Apache somehow gets started on windows startup, because of some random reason which I don't recall now and it can't be changed. I want to prepare my portable server in situations like this, so closing httpd.exe from process and starting my portable server is not an option. Anyway, because of already active httpd.exe my portable server's WordPress site can only be accessed through localhost:81 - this is a problem as WP site is very dependent on the URL and I don't want to include the url with port on WP database. Here is what I want to do through .htaccess: On any path except for error.php file check if not port 80 If not port 80 redirect to /error.php?code=port It it possible for it to have priority over WP redirection or URL handling? In the error.php I provided info on how to manually close httpd.exe and such so my family and friends can access the portable site. It's sort of like a gallery and calender application for events and other such stuff... Please help? I'm I can't figure it out at all. I know others may not have apache already running, but I want to prepare for such a situation. • start to preload content after a complete page load

  i am trying to make the preloading work in such a way that the components i wish to preload start to load after successfully loading the page. for example, i have index.php. i want it to load up completely. as soon as it loads up i want to start loading the other components. to make things clear. i have a nav that makes use of large size images. if i load them along with the index.php file, it would increase load up time of the page. i wish for those large images to load after completely rendering index.php? am i making sense? is it possible?

• .NET AxWebBrowser can't open page "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" error

  Oh, I am stuck again on this quiet annoying problem. I am trying to do a little automated browsing using the axWebBrowser component and it worked before. Now all of a sudden I get the following message when I try to browse to a page. Navigation to the webpage was canceled What you can try: Refresh the page. I totally disabled my firewall, ran VS2008 in Administrator mode, I even installed IE8 all to no avail. By the way IE8 doesn't work either. I don't know if the problem is related but all I get when I put a URL into IE8 is this message. Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage I don't so much mind that, I just really need to get my visual studio axWebBrowser working.

• Web page change monitoring for Mac OS X

  There is a site that I need to monitor for changes and pop an alarm if the change is over a certain threshold. Ideally it would use Growl to pop the notification but I'm open to alternatives. If there is an application out there that does this for purchase, I'll just buy it. If not, pointers to any Linux / Java / other recompilables that I could just add Growl support to would be very helpful!

  NOTE: This post is tagged ASP Classic but really that's just one of the languages in which I could write it. I really need assistance with configuring IIS (7.5). I have found many scripts and ideas to effect this but I require that it's not be a "drop-in" replacement, as in it must work globally for any possibly directory from one codebase.   To view specific cookies in Chrome, currently I have to: Go to preferences Click Under the Hood tab Click Content Settings... button Click Cookies tab (if it's not already active) Click Show cookies and other site data... button If I want to narrow this down to a specific domain, I have to type it in, too. Compare this to Firefox: View Page Info Click Security tab Click View Cookies The domain for the page I'm currently on is already used as a filter, too. My question: Is there an easier way in Chrome? I've done some searching for an extension but have come up with nothing.

• Geolocation and jQuery - Can't post results using ajax

  I'm currently working on a project to make a location-aware site. In essence, the user comes to the page, and their location is found using the HTML5 method and then using jQuery, the location is posted to a page which saves the location/address to a codeigniter session, but if they want to update their location, or change to a different location(IE they want to use their work address as the location instead of their present address), theres a jQuery colorbox that displays and lets them type in a custom address. Everything works flawlessly to get the initial location, but when I try and get the updated location saved, I receive the error "Uncaught TypeError: Object [object DOMWindow] has no method 'lat'" which then Google Chrome references as being an error not in jQuery, but in the file for Google Maps API. • Google Maps inside custom PODS page

  I have a custom pods page called addstory.php which uses a public form to display some input fields. For one of the fields, i have a input helper that displays a google map location which I can use to pick out a location which is stored in comma separated variable. • Wordpress Blank White Page for Login

  When I go to the /wp-login.php portion of my Wordpress site I get a blank white screen. In fact, throughout the entire domain I get blank white screen. Also, I can't even connect to the server via FTP (tried with other FTP accts to make sure not FTP client). Is this an issue with the host or my WP? Not even sure how to fix it if it's on my end cuz I can't even login to FTP or to the Admin Dashboard! Any help = appreciated.

• IE Cannot open the internet site (no JS on the page)

  I know that there are many posts about this on Stackoverflow, but this one is different. All of the other fixes to this have to do with javascript, but I don't even have javascript on my page. None. And I am still getting this error. Was there any other reasons why this error was being caused? Also, it only happens when I visit my top navigation links, rather than the page directly from the url. Take a look at: http://www.mayandivers.com/see EDIT: This is happening in IE6/7.

• Visual Studio ASP.Net MVC undo set as start page action

  I have an web application that I'm working on, it was working fine until my curiosity got the better of me and I right-clicked on a view and chose Set As Start Page option. Now, whenever I run my application it takes me to the Resource Not Found error page. I have the default register route set in my Global config route which was working fine before. I notice that the URL now reads: http://localhost:1234/Views/User/Login.aspx instead of http://localhost:1234/ like it was before. I'm not sure how to undo this action or what was changed, I've looked in my web.config file but I'm not sure what to look for exactly, Help is appreciated.

• Load first page on splashscreen using phonegap on android

  Hi i'm using phonegap in conjunction with Jquery mobile. I'm trying to immediately fetch the main page, while showing the user a splashscreen. In PhoneGap for Android i'm using this super.setIntegerProperty("splashscreen", R.drawable.splash); super.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/index.html", 2000); While this loads the splash, it also delays the loading of index.html. It it possible to start fetching it right away? Also, if not with phonegap, has anybody done this using JQM instead of phonegap? UPDATE: After using it with a slower loading first page (doing a json request) it kinda looks like the splash screens shows for a longer period of time, so this appears to be the default behavior

So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link. • Disable CTRL+mouse wheel zooming in Chrome?

  I'm a normal-sighted person and I would like to view pages at 100% all the time. I use keyboard shortcuts that involve CTRL a lot, so about twenty times a day I accidentally hit CTRL at the same time that I'm scrolling, which results in the page being reflowed and repainted. This in is annoying because it can take up to 30 seconds to fix the issue, depending on how complex the site layout is. On sites with dynamic layout such as Google Docs the problem is more serious; accidentally hitting CTRL+mouse wheel corrupts the display and forces me to refresh the page entirely, sometimes causing me to loose information in the process. I would like to either decouple CTRL+mouse wheel from zoom, or disable zoom functionality altogether. This is possible on Firefox by using about:config; is there a similar way to edit detailed settings in Chrome? Would I have access to the detailed settings if I used Chromium instead of Chrome? I'll probably jump ship back to Firefox if I can't solve this problem. There is a superuser question that asks basically the same thing I'm asking, but for Firefox and Internet Explorer exclusively. Other people on the Chrome forum have had related issues, but none have the same problem. "I would really like it if I could deactivate the auto zoom in/out." had "something with laptops and Windows 7", not the feature built into Chrome. Other people have had PDF specific issues, which doesn't concern me. I've also tried searching for extensions that allow you to disable the scroll; I had hoped that "Zoom Lock" would have the ability to lock the zoom at 100% and prevent CTRL+scroll wheel from distorting the display, but it doesn't work for my use case.   Anyone know of any Flash components that would do the job of displaying an external PPT/PPTX file in a Flash movie on a web page? Or a way of automatically parsing uploaded Powerpoint docs from a PHP-based CMS and displaying them on a web page. Our client needs to be able to upload a Powerpoint documents on their site without any intervention (if necessary). I know about Slideshare and the like, but the content needs to live on the client's web server due to security restrictions. Also, Adobe Presenter seems to require Adobe software/plugins on the clients machine which wouldn't be ideal. Thanks in advance

  I'm trying to implement the following feature: I want just one css file to be attached for any page that I rendered. For example take StackOverflow site. For the questions page, we will have questions.css file. so.com/questions ---> questions.css so.com/question/1234/title ---> question.css so.com/about ---> about.css so.com/faq ---> faq.css Now, I know that this css files share code in common, because they may have the same MasterPage(s) / UserControls. So, the solution need to take into account MasterPages, views and usercontrols as well. So, what will be the right solution for this kind of problem? I'm thinking about one solution, I'll put is as an answer, but maybe you have a better solution for this?

• New Static Website with Hosted DNS alternating 502, 503 and Page Does Not Exist Errors

  This has become an increasingly frustrating ordeal. I'm mostly a web developer, so forgive me if I am using improper terminology here. I have a client that had purchased a domain at JustHost. We built him a website and have it on our own server space. Now, I'm mostly used to dealing with godaddy and it is simple enough to manage dns records and point the A record to our server IP, where Apache on our end deals with the domains via name-based virtual hosts. But for some reason, in setting this up with JustHost, when attempting to go to the domain name, I either get a 502 or 503 error or "webpage does not exist". Now, I know that the basic functionality of the webpage must be working because I can access the the index etc straight through my servers www data (IE [server-ip]/website_folder). I was on the phone with technical support for over three hours yesterday with justhost and the best I could get was "That's really weird..." I've checked my logs and there doesn't seem to be anything coming through to my end. Does anybody have an idea of whats going on here? I would love for it to be a problem on my end, because justhost doesn't seem capable of helping further. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. I forgot to mention that we have several other sites up and running and completely accessible.

• a4j:commandButton causes full page reload on IE7

  Our process allows users to activate their account, and then configure e-mail preferences. We're using the tag: <a4j:commandButton id="activate" action="#{controller.agreeAction}" image="/img/ok.png" styleClass="activate-button" reRender="mainContent, sideBar" oncomplete="showEmailDialog();" /> This works fine on Firefox, but on IE, the showEmaiDialog() fires off to display the new dialog, and then the full page reloads, which instantly hides it again. I put in numerous alert() calls to make sure of what was happening. I see the e-mail dialog until I clear the final alert box in in the showEmailDialog() script, and then I see the alerts that I put into jQuery(document).ready(). Why does IE do a full page reload instead of just refreshing the requested sections?

• IIS6 cannot start additional processes when page request is called from other than localhost

  I have a web application dll that is running under iis6. This is starting a number of processes to be able to handle more than one request at the time. This is working perfect in a numbers of installations. In this particular installation, it runs perfectly when initialized by a call in IE on the server using http://localhost/apppath . The problem is when the processes are from another location, i.e. another computer on the same network initialising the call throught http://servername/apppath . In this case, the initial dll running under iis is executing (proved by logging), but it fails to initialize the additional processes. If the additional processes are already initialized by a call from localhost, it also works when called from another machine (in this case, it is just attached to the existing processes).
