  Greeting, This month I will start working on my master thesis. My thesis's subject is about network security. I need to deal with network interfaces and packets. I've used shappcap before to interact with packets but I'm not sure if C# is the most powerful language to deal with network programing and packets. I worked a bit with winshark and I saw how powerful it is and as you know winsharp is open source developed using C++. I'm not sure if I should use C# or C++ for network security programming and I want your through about the best language might be for network programming and packets interaction. should I use C#, C++, or java or some thing else? please give me your advice. • TableView as DetailView's subview with a UISplitViewController?

  I have a UISplitViewController, I used the iPad template to start. To change the type of view in the detailview area, I'm adding my view types as subviews to the DetailViewController's view. This works for UIViewController derived views, but not for UITableViewController view types?. Why would this be? My problem is rooted in the fact that the manufactured DetailView is the UISplitViewController's delegate. To get the correct popover behaviour, I'd like to keep it add buttons to its toolbar and then based on user selection open different details when master list selections are made. Thanks,

• What is all this stuff in the CKEditor folder?

  A while ago I downloaded the latest version (3.1) of the CKEditor text editor. The directory name was ckeditor and I deleted the ckeditor/_source and ckeditor/_samples sub-directories, then I referenced the ckeditor.js file in my html pages, like so : <script type="text/javascript" src="ckeditor/ckeditor.js"></script> this works well. To make config changes, I have been modifying the ckeditor/config.js file. However, as of late, I have been reading various web resources that say 'do not delete the _source' folder and other such ominous messages. What is this _source folder? What is all the stuff at the root of the ckeditor folder? and, What is safe to remove from the folder?

  When I print a webpage from Internet Explorer it will automatically add a header and footer including the website title, URL, date, and page number. Is it possible to hide the header and footer programatically using Javascript or CSS? Requirements: works in IE 6 (no other browser support necessary as its for an Intranet) may use ActiveX, Java Applet, Javascript, CSS preferably not something that the user needs to install (eg. http://www.meadroid.com/scriptx). feel free to list other third party available plug-ins though as I think this may be the only option don't require the user to manually update their browser settings don't render the pages as PDF or Word document or any other format don't write to the registry (security prevents this) Thanks

• jQuery prevent paste to iframe designmode from MS Word

  I've seen some questions on catching the paste event. This looks helpful. But I want to prevent paste on a designmode iframe from happening when the pasted content is not plaintext, but comes from MS Word or other WYSIWYG editor. What is experience on that? I suppose I should catch the event (bind to iframe or to its body?) and look for some specific tags in the clipboard. What content does Internet Explorer add every time? [edit] After doing more research I see there is no easy way to work with clipboard in non Internet Explorer browser except some Flash tricks. I don't want them. How can I detect paste in Firefox and others then?

• JQuery dirtyForm not working on text boxes in ajaxToolkit:TabPanel

  I'm a newb to jQ so please forgive my ignorance. I'm using Asa Wilson's plugin jquery.dirtyform.js to prompt a user of unsaved changes before they nav away from a page (ASP.Net C# 3.5). It basically loops through all controls and appends a class and handler to each input. Controls w/i an ajaxToolkit:TabPanel are ignored, unfortunately. I'd appreciate if anyone knows of this type of error and how to resolve it short of manually manipulating each control (as I have this logic in the master page). Thank you.

• GhostScript font issues

  I'm running GPL Ghostscript 8.70 (2009-07-31) on Windows XP. I have about 100 PDF files I've attempted to run through GS, but I'm having font-related issues on two separate groups of files from two different customers. I'm not sure if the issues could be related. Here are the two errors I receive: Loading Courier font from C:\Program Files\gs\fonts/cour.ttf... 2343384 986555 13583240 12261829 3 done. Using CourierNewPSMT font for Courier. Error: /rangecheck in --get-- Can't find CID font "Arial". Substituting CID font /Adobe-Identity for /Arial, see doc/Use.htm#CIDFontSubstitution. The substitute CID font "Adobe-Identity" is not provided either. Will exit with error. Error: /undefined in findresource I've tried just about everything I can think of with fontmap and cidfmap. Does anyone out there have a solution?

  I'm trying to use xUnit.net as the test runner for SpecFlow. The SpecFlow 1.2 binaries from the official download area don't contain an xUnit.net provider but the master branch on GitHub has one, so I build SpecFlow.Core.dll from that. I'm using xUnit.net 1.5. However, when I change the unitTestProvider name in the app.config in my spec project, I get a null reference custom tool error and the generated .feature.cs file is the single line: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Has anyone succeeded in getting SpecFlow to work with xUnit.net? If so, how?

• UISplitViewController, animating views

  Hello, I'm trying to animate my detail view controller to transition with a page curl (up/down). I'm trying to achieve a similar effect as the Notes application on the iPad, this transition was also reproduced by CulturedCode in their Things application for iPad. My problem is that the animation is clipped to the bounds of the Detail View Controller, it doesn't animate into the Master View Controller, therefore limiting the effect. I see that Apple and CulturedCode managed to make this happen, but I'm stumped. I've tried the following solutions: self.splitViewController.view.clipToBounds = False; self.view.clipToBounds = False; self.tableView.clipToBounds = False; The only other solution I can think of is discarding the UISplitViewController altogether and creating my own VC programmatically that will mimic the UISVC behavior so that both of the views (former separate view controllers) will share the same Super View.   As a learning exercise I'm writing myself a simple extension / plugin / macro framework using IronPython - I've gotten the basics working but I'd like to add some basic debugging support to make my script editor easier to work with. I've been hunting around on the internet a bit and I've found a couple of good resources on writing managed debuggers (including Mike Stall's excellent .Net Debugging blog and the MSDN documentaiton on the CLR Debugging API) - I understand that IronPython is essentially IL however apart from that I'm a tad lost on how to get started, in particular: Are there any significant differences between debugging a dynamic language (such as IronPython) to a static one (such as C#)? Do I need to execute my script in a special way to get IronPython to output suitable debugging information? Is debugging a script running inside the current process going to cause deadlocks, or does IronPython execute my script in a child process? Am I better off looking into how to produce a simple C# debugger first to get the general idea? (I'm not interested in the GUI aspect of making a debugger for now - I've already got a pretty good idea of how this might work)

  Hi all, I would like to implement a application which backs up all the internal datas like sms, mms, videos, audios, documents, call history stored in iPhone. But this seems to be not possible with api docs that the apple has released so far ... I have gone through the pdf of ENterprise distribution program and some of the links related to Enterprise Distribution Program, specifies about the Remote wipe and accessing of internal datas like Calendar, sms, mms ect .... But they didnt mention how to do it programmatically. Does Apple provide any special priviledges like extra api support to access the internal data in their Enterprise Distribution Program?. Is there any difference between Enterprise Distribution Program and Standard Distribution Program in the development point of view? And since in-house distribution does not require Apple approval, shall we use some other method which are not officially mentioned in apple docs, to access the internal stored data .. A quick glimpse through Netbeans website and I could see a powerful Swing editor, or what it looks like one; since I never used it, I don't know. • how does vim's autoread work

  Hi, i'm not sure how vim's set autoread works. The help says "When a file has been detected to have been changed outside of Vim and it has not been changed inside of Vim, automatically read it again." So after :set autoread I open a file with vim, I switch to an other editor, change the file, and wait to see the changes in vim as well, nothing happens, I have to say :e to reload the file with the new content. what did i miss? • Using URL Routing for Web Forms with .ashx files

  I am developing a .NET 3.5 Web Forms based website that uses URL Routing. So far I have created a few routes and I have had no issue. I now have a .ashx file that is going to handle sending .pdf files from a table in SQL Server to the website when someone clicks on a link. Normally when I create a Handler it would look like this: return BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath("~/ViewItem.aspx", typeof(Page)) as Page; For my .ashx file I tried: return BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath("~/FileServer.ashx", typeof(Page)) as Page; This doesn't work though because fileserver.ashx is not a page so casting it as typeof(Page)) as Page is going to fail. What do I cast the VirtualPath as instead of Page or is there some other way I should be doing this.

• PostSharp , PDB Debugging and Referenced Assemblies ...

  When using PostSharp with a Referenced Assembly with proper PDB info( checked with chkmatch), it seems strange that the debug info gets lost by VStudio build and post compile process and I get the following error by using chkmatch to compare the assembly after the vstudio build. Error: Debug information not found in the executable. So it doesn't step into for debugging into this assembly. Does Post Sharp properly writes back the Assemblies without destroying the PDB location offset info as I saw no valid offset info in the written back into DLL by PostSharp using Hex Editor and What's the workaround for this ? • Suggestion for chkstk.asm stackoverfolw exception in C++ with Visual Studio 2010

  I am working with an implementation of merge sort. I am doing C++ Visual Studio 2010. But when I took a array of 300000 integers for timing, it is showing an unhandled stackoverflow exception and taking me to a readonly file named "chkstk.asm". I reduced the size to 200000 and it worked. Again the same code worked with C-free 4 editor (mingw 2.95) without any problem while the size was 400000. Do you have any suggestion to get the code working in Visual Studio? May be the recursion in the mergesort is causing the problem.

• Integrating CKeditor to my symfony2 project

  I was trying to integrate ckeditor to my symfony2 project so that some of the textarea will have the ckeditor html editor. I brought the ckeditor on my required textarea by calling the class="ckeditor" in my form. The issue that I am facing now is that when I use the ckeditor the submit button of my form will not work instead I will have to use the built in "Save" option of the ckeditor toolbar for submitting the form. When I remove the ckeditor from the textareas and use normal textarea the submit button seems to work. I do not want to use the "Save" button on the ckeditor toolbar to submit my form. Is there a workaround to make the submit button work? Tried googling out for possible solutions but could not find any. P.S: I would also like to know if there are other html text editors like ckeditor that would work well with symfony2 and link to implementation instructions.

• How can I make VS2010 behave like VS2008 w/r/t indentation?

  Situation I have a plain text file where indentation is important. line 1 line 1.1 (indented two spaces) line 1.2 (indented two spaces) line 1.2.3 (indented four spaces) In Visual Studio 2008, when I pressed enter, the next line would also be indented four spaces. However, in Visual Studio 2010, when I press enter, the next line is indented one tab. Question Does anybody know where, in the mountain of preferences under Tools Options, I can return to the way that Visual Studio 2008 worked? Under Options Text Editor Plain Text Tabs, I see the following: If I select "None", then I get no indentation when I move to the next line. If I select "Block", then I get TAB indentation (even though the previous line is spaces). In Visual Studio 2008, my indentation is set to "Block", and I get spaces. I have no idea what "Smart" indenting is, or why it is disabled.

If i set that to true, than the system considers the blank input as valid so i get a null Double class. If i set it to false then the system chokes on the blank input string with: org.springframework.beans.TypeMismatchException: Failed to convert value of type 'java.lang.String' to required type 'double'; nested exception is java.lang.NumberFormatException: empty String Does anyone know how to get the defaultValue to work for Doubles? • Different sidebars for each Wordpress page

  I'm making a Wordpress 2.9.2 theme, and I'd like each page to have its own sidebar than can be edited as easily as the page's content. It would be cumbersome to make a different template file for each sidebar. It would also be weird to add a "custom field" containing all the sidebar text, since I wouldn't be able to use the Visual/HTML editor. What I'd like is to have a tag similar to the tag, but instead of delimiting the content to be shown on the front page, it would split the post's content and sidebar. Is this possible? Or is there a better solution?
