• ASP.NET ReportViewer Control Fonts to Century Gothic

  We are using ASP.NET ReportViewer Control to render rdl files. In the rdl files we have set the font to “Century Gothic” and in preview mode it renders the fonts nicely. However – when it gets rendered on browser we see the fonts defaulted to “Times New Roman”. I tried couple of things without success: 1. Setting the font family of the page () 2. Setting the FontNames of the ReportViewer control Please let me know how we can render the fonts to Century Gothic. One more thing is I don't see Century Gothic in the list of available fonts in the HTML Editor inside Visual Studio 2010. Do I need to add them somewhere?

• Prototype's Ajax.Request not working in Chrome

  I am just doing a simple Ajax.Request call using the newest version of Prototype. It works fine in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and even Safari... but not in Chrome. Here is my code... alert(url); new Ajax.Request(url, { method: 'get', onSuccess: function(transport) { alert('test'); } }); It pops up he URL alert but the test alert never comes up. Like I said it does in every other browser. I am not getting any javascript errors and I have used Firebug. I did a console.log on each event and it gets to the onLoading stage of Ajax.Request but never onLoaded. Very confused... ?

• Javascript back button for iframe parent window

  I have some pages with iframes in them. I want to add a link/button inside the iframe, to make the browser go back one page in history. But I want the PARENT to go back, not the iframe itself. I originally had this, which makes the iframe page go back (if it exists): <a href="javascript:history.back()">&laquo; Go back</a> I've tried window.parent.history.back() and window.parent.document.history.back() but neither one works. There are no cross-domain issues accessing the iframe from the parent and vice-versa.

  I need to implement a horizontal scrollable timeline. I've drawn the timeline/grids/rulers etc. I just need to catch mousewheel up/down to scroll the timeline (backward - past/forward - future). First I need to catch the event: but nothing I've found seems to work. Need browser support only for chrome/firefox (latest versions). • SELinux, Fedora, and Trusted Applet crashing?

  For some reason, if I run Firefox 3.5.x under Fedora 11 with SELinux enabled, my browser crashes when I attempt to embed the applet dynamically. Under Windows, Ubuntu, and Mac, the user is prompted to trust the signer and then trust the executing java applet, but under Fedora, I never see this prompt. If I disable SELinux, I get NO prompting, and the applet embeds without any notice whatsoever! Remembering that trusted applets can execute user programs and manipulate user data, this becomes quite a nightmare. Has anyone else had to deal with SELinux and Fedora/SuSE/Linux and trusted applets before? If so, how did you overcome this broken behavior?

• NLB and Host Header Value

  Background: We are using MOSS 2007 in farm configuration, 2 WFE, 1 Indexer and SQL Server. MS NLB is used for load balancing. Host header value mapped to Virtual IP of Cluster in DNS, is used while creating the web applications in MOSS and all are sharing port 80. Problem: When client tries to access the web application that are configured with host header values. Both of WFEs Hangs for 5 minutes, they stop responding to ping and browser shows 'Page not found'. In the Application Log on the WFE, this error is registered "provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired". Interestingly, the web application with no host header value and hosted on different ports is working correctly. Any clue to solve this problem will be helpful. Thks. Hafeez

• Simplest Way to Process Basic HTTPS GET File Requests?

  All I need to do is download some basic text-based and image files from a web server that has a self-signed SSL certificate. I have been trying to figure out how to use HttpClient to do this, but getting the SSL to work is a nightmare that seems to be way too much trouble for such a simple task. Is there a better way to perform these file downloads? Perhaps through a WebView or Browser feature? Reinventing the wheel of making a simple HTTPS GET request is a major pain, and is significantly holding up my development schedule.

• Cannot see changes made to aspx

  I'm trying to edit an aspx page...mainly javascript, and I randomly see changes that I've made when refreshing. I'm using jquery, but I'm not sure that jquery is the culprit here. For example. If I add a simple alert("hello"); in the page I'm calling, I do not see it take place until I have cleared all my temp files and cache, closed my browser opened back up...and even then, sometimes, I still don't see my changes. Any ideas?

  Short version: How do I set a Git remote's HEAD ref to point to something besides "master"? My project has a policy not to use a "master" branch (all branches are to have meaningful names). Furthermore, the canonical master repository is only accessible via ssh://, with no shell access (like GitHub or Unfuddle). My problem is that the remote repository still has a HEAD reference to refs/heads/master, but I need it to point to a different branch. This is causing two problems: When cloning the repo, there this, warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout. That's confusing and inconvenient. The web-based code browser depends on HEAD as a basis for browsing the tree. I need HEAD to point to a valid branch, then.

Say I make an asynch ajax call like so: xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange= myFoo; xmlhttp.open("GET",url,true); Here is my callback function: function myFoo() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { if (xmlhttp.status==200) { // Success message } else { // some error message } } } Now, where and when does the execution path start again? Once I make the call to open(), does execution continue directly below the open() and another "thread" enters the asynch function once the ajax request has been completed? Or, does the browser wait for the request to complete, make the Asynch call, and then execution continues right after the open? Thanks!

• AS3 mouseX and mouseY values wrong in Firefox

  Hi there, I'm getting some strange behaviour in my Flash movie, only in Firefox for MAC (3.6.2). Basically, the mouseX and mouseY properties of all display objects become massive numbers: < 100000000. This issue only occurs on Firefox, it is not present when the movie is run standalone, nor when it is run on any other browser. The swf requires Flash Player 10, and is written in AS3. It is also embedded via SWFObject, but I tested using the export code supplied with Flash and verified the issue is still present. Has anybody heard of this? Is it a Flash or Firefox bug? Is it a bug at all? Thanks

  Okay, this is REALLY starting to bug me... This page works fine in both Chrome and Firefox. www.bloggan.tk But if it's opened in internet-explorer it always expands beyond the page and introduces the scrollbar no matter what the resolution of the browser is. I have NO idea what change in the html it was that cause this... Here's the blogger-template-html-source I'd REALLY appreciate if someone could help me with this. Thanks in advance! Edit: I've "solved" it for IE using javascript, but that's only temporary (i hope). The version without javascript can be seen here, so that you still will be able to know what I'm talking about.   In the Google Chrome debugger, I often want to get a reference to a node in the DOM tree. I can click the "magnifying glass" button and then click the desired element in the browser window to select the corresponding node in the DOM tree displayed in the debugger. But how can I get a reference to that node in the console? If the element has an id, document.getElementById works, but if there is no id, is there a better alternative to XPath or manual traversal of the DOM tree using children? In case XPath is the best way, is there a better way than doing something like this: var evaluator = new XPathEvaluator(); var result = evaluator.evaluate("//div", document.documentElement, null, XPathResult.FIRST_ORDERED_NODE_TYPE, null); which is a pain to type out each time.

But Zend Soap Client tries to directly connect it.   Hi. I am trying to build a web site with ASP.NET MVC, I'm new to this. My question is: how can I display the default login dialog? I am not referring to a custom dialog, like the jQuery Dialog, there is a default pop-up for credentials, which looks different depending on browser, same as with javascript alert(), but I don't know how to display it. To know what I mean, go to http://fit.c2.com/wiki.cgi?WelcomeVisitors, there is a Login button at the bottom of the page, when you click it a pop-up appears. That is what I want to display. Any ideas?

• Add Core Data Index to certain Attributes via migration

  For performance reasons, i want to set the Indexed Attribute to some of my entities. I created a new core data model version to perform the changes. Core Data detects the changes and migrates my model to the new version, however, NO INDEXES ARE GENERATED. If I recreate the database from scratch, the indexes are there. I checked with SQLite Browser both on the iPhone and on the Simulator. The problem only occurs if a database in the prior format is already there. Is there a way to manually add the indexes? Write some sql for that? Or am I missing something? I did already some more critical migrations, no problems there. But those missing indexes are bugging me. Thanks for helping!

  When a page includes third party javascript (via script src=...) and that javascript that sets a cookie, that cookie "becomes" a first party cookie, even though it's originally set by a third party source. My question is this. If someone has disabled third party cookies in their browser, does that also apply cookies set by third party javascript? Or does it only block cookies that are explicitly set in the headers for requests to the third party domain? And either way, do all browsers handle this the exact same way or do some block javascript cookies but others allow it?

• How to be sure that my MVC project is running on the correct version after upgrade to vs2010?

  I just installed visual studio 2010 and upgraded my MVC project (which was running on MVC RC2 in visual studio 2008). visual studio 2010 updated every project file to target the framework 4.0. But the system.web.dll is pointing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 2\Assemblies\System.Web.Mvc.dll in VS2010 object browser, I have every dll showing up in multiple versions as expected (3.5.0.0 and 4.0.0.0) except for the System.Web.Mvc dll which doesn't show any version and points to the path I mentioned above. Isn't this namespace point to the Framework folder like the System.Web namespace? C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework.NETFramework\v4.0\System.Web.dll

  These days I tried to apply a free third pary CA ( www.cacert.org & www.freeca.cn ) and then set up Tomcat SSL with the CA. My purpose is to eliminate the "Certificate Error" page when accessing https://... from a client browser. But it's a little hard for me to get around it. My steps to apply a free CA, from www.freeca.cn I used keytool to generate a cer file with command: keytool -genkey ... // Generate a key keytool -certreq ... // Generate a cert file and then I got some code from the cert file, and paste onto www.freeca.cn to generate a cer file. Then I imported the cer file keytool -import -alias abc -file MyABC.cer -keystore mykeystorefile.store And then I set up the mykeystorefile.store into tomcat /conf/server.xml, but it didn't work, sill pop "Certificate Error" page when trying to access https://.... Can someone help me? Thanks
