The reason why I don't want to just click on the top bar to sort on the basis of rating is that my music library is 37GB and it takes WMP around 5 seconds to get done rearranging, and I dislike that.   • How Do I Restrict Repository Access via WebSVN?

    I have multiple subversion repositories which are served up through Apache 2.2 and WebDAV. They are all located in a central place, and I used this debian-administration.org article as the basis (I dropped the use of the database authentication for a simple htpasswd file though). Since then, I have also started using WebSVN. My issue is that not all users on the system should be able to access the different repositories, and the default setup of WebSVN is to allow anyone who can authenticate. According to the WebSVN documentation, the best way around this is to use subversion's path access system, so I looked to create this, using the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive. When I do this though, I keep getting "403 Forbidden" messages. My files look like the following: I have default policy settings in a file: <Location /svn/> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/lib/svn/repository Order deny,allow Deny from all </Location> Each repository gets a policy file like below: <Location /svn/sysadmin/> Include /var/lib/svn/conf/default_auth.conf AuthName "Repository for sysadmin" require user joebloggs jimsmith mickmurphy </Location> The default_auth.conf file contains this: SVNParentPath /var/lib/svn/repository AuthType basic AuthUserFile /var/lib/svn/conf/.dav_svn.passwd AuthzSVNAccessFile /var/lib/svn/conf/svnaccess.conf I am not fully sure why I need the second SVNParentPath in default_auth.conf, but I just added that today as I was getting error messages as a result of adding the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive. With a totally permissive access file [/] joebloggs = rw the system worked fine (and was essentially unchanged), but as I soon as I start trying to add any kind of restrictions such as [sysadmin:/] joebloggs = rw instead, I get the 'Permission denied' errors again. I know most of the configuration is correct, as I have added [/] joebloggs = rw at the start and 'joebloggs' then has all the correct access. When I try to go repository-specific though, doing something like [/] joebloggs = rw [sysadmin:/] mickmurphy = rw then I got a permission denied error for mickmurphy (joebloggs still works), with an error similar to what I already had previously [Thu May 28 10:40:20 2009] [error] [client 89.100.219.180] Access denied: 'mickmurphy' GET svn:/sysadmin Also, I forgot to explain previously that all my repositories are underneath /var/lib/svn/repository UPDATE (20090529-1245): Still no luck getting this to work, but all the signs seem to be pointing to the issue being with path-access control in subversion not working properly. By default, this is disabled, but after my colleague added the sites to the GPO pushing these in such form: *.domain.com it shows up as domain.com in her trusted sites. Has anyone encountered or even fixed this issue?

  • Why can't Win7 remember my tether? New Connection Setup every time

    In Win7 when you connect to a new network you're prompted to set it as a Home, Work, or Public connection. Presumably this influences default security settings. That's all well and good, except for the part that everytime I USB tether my smartphone Win7 comes up with a new dialogue. I think I'm up to generic connection 25 or something? It's getting ridiculous. Is there anyway to get Win7 to remember the phone tether as ONE connection only?

    When working from Windows, I prefer to use RoyalTS instead of the default Microsoft RDP client, because it allows me to save multiple connections, the credentials of the connection, etc; as well has having more than 1 connection open at a time. Is there a similar (or any) alternative to the Microsoft RDP client for connecting from OSX to Windows? Aside from VNC, that is; at this point I'm hoping to continue using the RDP protocol.

    I've been looking into this problem, and it is common. But since there is a package for Mac with the same name, the solution for Mac users is hiding the solution for Linux users and our default sshfs.   • Raid0 setup - What should 'my computer' say?

    Hey, I'm not a hardware person, so maybe someone here could help me. I ordered a PC from Dell that has "Serial ATA Raid 0 "Stripe"(7200RPM)Dual HDD" (2x500gb). However, I've just noticed that there's only one HD of 1TB (which is the default option when ordering). Should I be seeing two HDDs in "My Computer" or does the Raid0 setup simply improve performance rather than have (and display) two individual HDDs? How can I check if my computer does have a 'raid0' setup? Thanks

  • Can you force an app to use Cleartype?

    The app we use for development (CodeWright 7) is quite old and has Cleartype turned off by default. A newer version has the option to turn on font smoothing, but I'm stuck with this version and upgrading is not an option for me. Is there a way to force the app to use Cleartype?
