  • Passing data between asp.net pages

    - by user204588
Hello, I'm wondering the opinion of what is the best way to pass a lot of values between pages. I was thinking of either saving the values to a database, using context.Items[], or Session[]. I'm not sure about what is the best method. I'm passing probably around 40 variables.

  • Using Git or Mercurial, how would you know when you do a clone or a pull, no one is checking in file

    - by Jian Lin
Using Git or Mercurial, how would you know when you do a clone or a pull, no one is checking in files (pushing it)? It can be important that: 1) You never know it is in an inconsistent state, so you try for 2 hours trying to debug the code for what's wrong. 2) With all the framework code -- potentially hundreds of files -- if some files are inconsistent with the other, can't the rake db:migrate or script/generate controller cause some damage or inconsistencies to the code base?

  • performance: jquery.live() vs. creating specific listeners on demand?

    - by Haroldo
I have a page with news item titles, clicking each one ajax loads a full news items including a photo thumbnail. I want to attach a lightbox to the thumbnails to show a bigger photo. I have two options (i think): .live() . $('img .thumb').live('click', function()) add a specific id based listener on callback of the news item click . $('div.news_item').click(function(){ var id = $(this).attr('id'); //click show_news_item(), //callback function(){$(id+' .thumb').lightbox();} })

  • Are PHP5 objects passed by reference?

    - by morpheous
I cant seem to get any consistent info on this. Different sources appear to say different things and trhe venerable php.net iteslf (appears) not to explicitly state this - although I must admit, I only had a quick look. In cases where I am passing around 'heavy' objects, I need to pass by reference, but I dont want to keep typing: function foo(TypeName& $obj) if I can get away with simply, function foo(TypeName $obj) So what does the standard say?

  • MySQL Order By Problem, Why is 1000 being seen as Smaller than 2?

    - by Jack
I have a strange problem, I am trying to order the output of a set of records by a field called displayOrder. Now even though record A has a displayOrder of 2 and record B has a displayOrder of 1000, record B still shows up before record A. Here's my select statement: SELECT * FROM items ORDER BY displayOrder ASC It works fine until I have a record greater than 9, then 10, 11, 12, etc are seen as smaller than 2, 3, 4 because they start with the number 1. Any way to fox this?

  • zend framework storing sessions in database for iframe use?

    - by princyp
I have a site im running through an iframe in a uiwebview for a native iphone app, the problem is that I guess since the iframe and the html page are on different servers the session will not keep its state. My thought is to store the session data to the database and then just use the stored session data. Is this possible? If so can anyone send me to a guide on how to set up stored sessions with zend framework, I can't seem to find a good example. thanks

  • How to create a generic Android XML layout for all activities

    - by zabawaba
I have an application that needs the same items [5 buttons acting as tabs] in every screen. Is it possible to create a "base XML layout" that has these 5 buttons and then have all the other XML files extend from the bas layout in some way so that I don't have to have multiple buttons that will ultimately have the same functionality. Is there a better approach to this problem that can be supported by API 9

  • Parsing complicated query parameters

    - by Will
My Python server receives jobs that contain a list of the items to act against, rather like a search query term; an example input: (Customer:24 OR Customer:24 OR (Group:NW NOT Customer:26)) To complicate matters, customers can join and leave groups at any time, and the job should be updated live when this happens. How is best to parse, apply and store (in my RDBMS) this kind of list of constraints?

  • What's the best replacement for timeGetTime to avoid wrap-around?

    - by phjr
timeGetTime seems to be quite good to query for system time. However, its return value is 32-bit only, so it wraps around every 49 days approx. It's not too hard to detect the rollover in calling code, but it adds some complexity, and (worse) requires keeping a state. Is there some replacement for timeGetTime that would not have this wrap-around problem (probably by returning a 64-bit value), and have roughly the same precision and cost?
