    Hi, can you recommend a Visual C# Form Designer tutorial that is targeted at experienced programmers who have at least a basic knowledge of C# but are new to the VS C# Form Designer. At least it shouldn't be targeted at programming newbs, like Introduction to Visual C# 2008 Express Edition (it explains how a comment looks like in C#). So far I've found C# Programming Tutorial - Programming Winforms in C# on stackoverflow. Wishlist: ;-) I'm more interested in focus on the designer itself rather than an explanation of single gui-elements. In other words explaining separation between generated-code, what to not edit manually (visual-c#-designer-responsibility) and on the other hand the parts for which the programmer himself is responsible. So a little more abstract best-practice point of view pointing out some caveats would be great as well. I would prefer text over video as well, but that's minor. /Wishlist Perhaps even a Microsoft reference specific to the Visual c# forms designer (which I seem to have been unable to find) would be helpful.

  • AJAX is reloading page on a SharePoint site (SharePoint 2007 AJAX-enabled)

    I have an AJAX-enabled SharePoint 2007 site. I have also created a user control that has an interactive ajax form. It obviuosly works like a charm locally, but I am trying to get it working on the SharePoint site. The problem is that once I load up the user control on to an aspx page inside SharePoint, the form (which has ajax), causes the page to reload every time a postback occurs. Can someone help point me in the direction of debugging this? - I really need to eliminate the page refreshes and have the ajax work correctly in SharePoint. I read that the ScriptManager has to be in the SharePoint masterpage, but that did not work either... Page still reloads everytime. Thanks.

    I am using Symfony PHP Framework to create web application, and using symfony Forms to create the HTML forms. I am trying to load the data in Select element using Ajax, for that i am using jQuery's Ajax functions. It is working fine as it sends and gets the response correctly(status as 200), but not calling the Callback function in some browsers such as IE,Chrome and Safari.It works fine in Firefox and Opera. the Code that is not working, $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: function(jsonData){ alert("ok go"); } }); the alert "OK Go" is not called in Chrome,IE and Safari But $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: alert("ok go"); }); this works, but as per the project i want the JSON data to load in my Select element. is there any thing wrong in the return JSON format or the bug in the jQuery Ajax functions, please help.

However, apparently due to a namespace issue none of my Xpath expressions resolve.My form works fine on a simple instance when the instance file has no namespace. However, I need the namespace support. My instance file has a namespace "ai:inventory." I am referencing the instance data Where should I be declaring the prefix "ai" for my namespace so that my XPath expressions can find the appropriate elements? /ai:inventory/products ? I've tried creating the prefix in the html opening tag... that didn't help. thanks,

    Hi, I need to do the following: In Crm, you have serviceappointments (serviceactivities). 1 appointment can have a state, ( like arrived, pending, closed, ... ). When i save the form (onsave event), It should catch if the form is putted closed state and then it should do something. I can get the state easily: alert(crmForm.all.statuscode.DataValue) I hanged this onto an onsave event. But when i put a serviceappointment into closed state, it first calls the onsave event with previous state and then puts it in closed state. Is it possible to catch if it's putted in closed state?

    Hi! I need to insert a Flash movie in a Visual Basic 2008 express form and send parameters to the movie, but am a newbie to VB. The flash movie will plot points sent by VB in a graph. I tried to insert the Shockwave Flash control in the form but cannot find it anywhere. So I inserted the webbrowser control, which I understand can be used to a similar purpose. But how would I send the values of X and Y (coordinates to plot in Flash) to the flash swf? Thanks for any help!

    In WPF using IDataErrorInfo and Style I want to create form where I can provide end user three different status while validating data To make the scenario more clear 1) I have textbox next to it I have icon which provides end user what kind of input textbox expects - Initial status with information icon 2) As soon as user enter data it validates it and decides whether it is valid or not - most of the time it will show cross (X) icon saying invalid data 3) As it is validating on UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged" it will turn cross icon to green check mark as soon as it gets validated i.e [ ] i (tooltip- Any valid user name ) [Ga ] X (tooltip- Invalid user name. Must be 5 char long) [Gaurav ] * (it will show only correct icon, meaning valid value) How can I achieve this using IDataErrorInfo and Style, I tried doing that but as soon as my form gets loaded it invalidates all the data and shows cross icon at the first time. I want to show different tooltip and different icon for three states (Initial info, Invalid data, Valid data)

    There is an interesting interview with Werner Vogels which is partly about how Amazon does Service Oriented Architecture: For us service orientation means encapsulating the data with the business logic that operates on the data, with the only access through a published service interface. No direct database access is allowed from outside the service, and there’s no data sharing among the services. I do not understand that. Why do they need to 'wrap' a database into some layer if it already can be consumed as a service by other service through database adaptors? Does Amazon do that just because they need to expose the database to third parties or because of anything else? Why "no direct database access is allowed"? What are the advantages of such an architectural decision?

    I have been investigating this number theoretic function (found in the Height model) and I need to query for things based on the prime factorization of the primary key, or id. I have created a model for Factors of the id which maintains all of the prime factors. class Height(models.Model): b = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) c = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) d = models.FloatField(null=True, blank=True) class Factors(models.Model): height = models.ForeignKey(Height, null=True, blank=True) factor = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) degree = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) prime_id = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) For example, if id=24, then the associated entries in the factors table would be height_id=24,factor=2,degree=3,prime_id=0 height_id=24,factor=3,degree=1,prime_id=1 the prime_id keep track of the relative order of the primes. Now let p < q < r < s all be prime numbers and a,b,c,d be positive integers. Then I want to be able to query for all Heights of the form id=(p**a)*(q**b)*(r**c)*(s**d). Now this is simple in the case that all of p,q,r,s,a,b,c,d are known in that I can just run Height.objects.get(id=(p**a)*(q**b)*(r**c)*(s**d)) But I need to be able to query for something like (2**a)*(3**2)*(r**c)*(s**d) where r,s,a,d are unknown and all Heights of such form will be returned. Furthermore, not all of the rows in Height will have exactly four prime factors, so I need to make sure that I am not matching rows of the form id=(p**a)*(q**b)*(r**c)*(s**d)*(t**e)... From what I can tell, the following MySQL query accomplishes this, but I would like to do it through the Django ORM. I also don't know if this MySQL query is the proper way to go about doing things.   • Text encoding in HTML text fields

    I have a site up that has a form on it. The form POSTs to a php script which then inserts the data into my database. The page has a charset=UTF-8 attribute in the <meta> tag, and the database is setup to use UTF-8. However, when I copy and paste characters from MS Word into the field, the output is messed up. For example, the quotes in I am using "Microsoft Word" '''' become I am using “Microsoft Word†???? in the database. Anyone have any idea why this might occur?

  • LWJGL SlickUtil Texture Binding

    I am making a 3D game using LWJGL and I have a texture class with static variables so that I only need to load textures once, even if I need to use them more than once. I am using Slick Util for this. When I bind a texture it works fine, but then when I try to render something else after I have rendered the model with the texture, the texture is still being bound. How do I unbind the texture and set the rendermode to the one that was in use before any textures were bound? Some of my code is below. The problem I am having is the player texture is being used in the box drawn around the player after it the model has been rendered.     This tutorial will take you to the installation steps required to install Sweetcron in the XAMPP. I am taking the liberty to assume that you have already installed XAMPP. I First of all download sweetcron and copy the extracted “sweetcron” folder inside the htdocs folder in the XAMPP directory. You have to get few things in place before installing sweetcron: 1. Create a sweetcron database using Mysql. You can just put a name “sweetcron” and leave all the other settings such as Mysql connection collation as it is. Now that you have the database ready you can configure few settings before making sweetcron to work on XAMPP. 2. Open the config-sample PHP file with your text editor (something like Notepad++ or Komodo Edit is recommended) which is located in Sweetcron/system/application/config. You have to make few changes in it. a. In the first settings you have to edit the value of $config ['base_url']. The default value is             “http://www.your-site.com”; and you have to change that into “http://localhost/sweetcron/”; b. You also have to change the deafult settings of $config ['uri_protocol']. The value that you will see is “REQUEST_URI”; but you need to change that into “AUTO”; c. Now that we have made all the changes you can rename the file from config_sample to just config. 3. Open the database-sample.php in the text editor. You need to make the edits regarding the databse in here. a. Write down your password in the third line if you are using one in xampp. b. Now that we have made all the edits we can change the file name from database-sample to just database. 4. That leaves us with only one setting and that is editing values in the .htaccess file with our text editor. The default values you will have in the .htaccess file are: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L] and you just have to add “sweetcron” after Rewritebase in the third line. Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /sweetcron RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L] 5. Now you are all set and done. You can access sweetcron in the localhost by going to http://localhost/sweetcron/ you will see some text on the top which would prompt you to click on one script. Click that script and behold, you have your sweetcrom installation on xampp ready. Further it will ask you to add deatils such as Lifestream name, username and email address. Fill those deatils and you will reach the admin panel.

  • Django resizing an image pre save using PIL

    Ugh, I hate having to ask a question on such a common feature, but. . . I'm using an ImageField in a form to upload a photo to S3. I want to resize the image before it is uploaded to S3. I'm trying to use PIL to test the dimensions and resize if necessary. The Image.open() part is throwing me though. It wants a filepath, and the ImageField from the form is only returning the actual file and filename. How can I resize the image before it's saved to S3? Before we get to this point, I'm not using sorl because I believe sorl is compatible with models using ImageFields. But the model associated with the saved S3 images holds just the url of the image on S3 as opposed to using ImageFields.
