• Deallocating NSMutableArray of custom objects

  I need help with deallocation of my NSMutableArray of custom objects. I need to retain the array and so I have added a property in .h and I release it in dealloc in .m file. When I add objects to the array, I do the following: myarray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [myarray addObject:[[mycustomObject alloc]initWithObject:obj1]]; [myarray addObject:[[mycustomObject alloc]initWithObject:obj2]]; Now, I don't know how to release mycustomobject. If I do the following: [myarray addObject:[[[mycustomObject alloc]initWithObject:obj1] autorelease]; I run in to problems when I access the array later. Please advice.

• c# application and configuration settings

  Hi, I never used Settings class before but I found some articles on CodeProject which I'm currently reading (for example http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/PropertiesSettings.aspx) but so far I didn't see how to save string array for getting it after application is started next time. For example my application has several FileSystemWatcher instances, with each instance several other directories are connected (for example one FSW instance is monitoring one directory for a change and when it happens it copies some file to several other directories), so I would have one string array with watched paths representing FSW instances, and string array for each of those paths, representing directories that are affected. My question is, what should I use (Settings class or something else), and how should I use that for storing application configuration that is variable number of string arrays? Emphasize is on something I could use very soon as I don't have too much time to make custom class (but would have to if I cannot find solution) or dig into some obscure hacks. Any tutorial link, code snippet would be very helpful. Thanks.

• Typed Arrays in Gecko 2: Float32Array concatenation and expansion.

  Hi all, I'm a bit confused with Javascript Typed Arrays. What I have several *Float32Array*s, that have no concat method. I'd like to concatenate them all inside another Float32Array, but: as I said before, there is no concatenation method if I try to write past the array length, the array is not expanded (aka this won't work - please note that event.frameBuffer and buffer are both Float32Array and that I don't know what the final length of my buffer will be): var length_now = buffer.length; for (var i = 0; i < event.frameBuffer.length; i += 1) { buffer [length_now + i] = event.frameBuffer[i]; } The only solution I found is to copy the Float32Array in a regular array, that's definitely not what I want. How would you do, stackoverflowers?

• Conflicts between CSS Menu and Image as Links

  There is logo on the top (image as link) and other images as links. These links are not working in FF and safari. The problem is with css/ul/li based navigation menu. If I remove the menu html code, images as links are working fine. • Converting IPv4 or IPv6 address to a long for comparisons

  In order to check if an IPv4 or IPv6 address is within a certain range, I've got code that takes an IPv4 address, turns that into a long, then does that same conversion on the upper/lower bound of the subnet, then checks to see if the long is between those values. • .NET Framework - Possible memory-leaky classes?

  Just the other day I was investigating a memory leak that was ballooning the app from ~50MB to ~130MB in under two minutes. Turns out that the problem was with the ConcurrentQueue class. Internally, the class stores a linked list of arrays. When an item is dequeued from the ConcurrentQueue, the index in the array is bumped, but the item remains in the array (i.e. it's not set to null). The entire array node is dropped after enough enqueues/dequeues, so it's not technically a leak, but if storing only a few large objects in the ConcurrentQueue, this can get out of hand fast. The documentation makes no note of this danger. I was wondering what other potential memory pitfalls are in the Base Class Library? I know about the Substring one (that is, if you call substring and just hold onto the result, the whole string will still be in memory). Any others you've encountered?

  I'm attempting to sum daily purchase amounts for a given user. @dates is an array of 31 dates. I need the find condition to compare a date from the array to the created_at date of the purchases. What I'm doing below compares the exact DateTime for the create_at column. I need it to look at the day itself, not the DateTime. • Automatic setting of Local Time zone w/DST

  I can derive latitude and longitude and UTC time from GPS NMEA sentences. Now, how can I automaticly adjust the Windows local time zone on my PC (2003 Server OS), based on this? Also, Is there an easy way of distributing this to clients based on code or apps software? Preferred programming environment is .NET, C# & Visual Studio. I use a GPS Time server (GPS clock with antenna) today, but this could not support other than UTC. I want to set computers in my TCP/UDP network to correct time zone w/DST based on coordinates derived from GPS, so manually setting of all is not required.

  I'm pretty new to the jsp and struts way of doing things and so far I like what I see. My current question is with the use of the struts select tag. I have a page that displays a number of dropdown boxes using struts select currently the options are hard coded in the jsp. I would like to populate them based on a properties file. However I have no idea where to start. I assume I need to take the contents of a properties file into an Array (of some sort) and assign that to the select tag. My questions are: Where does the code t build the array go? How do I connect that array to the select tag?

  Hi, In an application harvesting (many) RSS feeds, I want to dynamically schedule the feed downloaders based on the following criteria: The speed at which content are generated - source which produce content at a higher rate need to be visited more often. After downloading a feed, its content is analyzed and based on the current rate of publication the next run time is determined for the feed. Note that this is dynamically changing. Sometimes a feed is very active and sometimes it is slow. Every RSS feed should be visited at least once an hour. While the second one is done by most schedulers but the first one is more problematic. What JAVA-based open source scheduler would you recommend for the task? (and why ;) ) Thanks! Boaz

These are called from a string array in strings.xml <string name="app_name">Taxi Me</string> <string-array name="taxi_array"> <item>Barrys Taxi</item> <item>Boom Taxi</item> </string-array> What i was trying to do is create subitems for these so that i can show fields such as address and contact details etc. I made a customlistview a while back but cant work out how i can do it using the strings.xml file? What is the correct way of manually adding data this way?

• How to access fields in JSON object by index

  I know this isn't the best way to do it, but I have no other choice :( I have to access the items in JSONObject by their index. The standard way to access objects is to just wirte this[objectName] or this.objectName. I also found a method to get all the fields inside a json object: (for (var key in p) { if (p.hasOwnProperty(key)) { alert(key + " -> " + p[key]); } } (Soruce : Loop through Json object). However there is no way of accessing the JSONfields directly by a index. The only way I see right now, is to create an array, with the function above, get the fieldname by index and then get the value by fieldname. As far as I see it, the p (in our case the JSON file must be an iteratable array to, or else the foreach loop wouldn't work. How can I access this array directly? Or is it some kind of unsorted list? • Possible to access gdata api when using Java App Engine?

  I have a dilemma where I want to create an application that manipulates google contacts information. The problem comes down to the fact that Python only supports version 1.0 of the api whilst Java supports 3.0. I also want it to be web-based so I'm having a look at google app engine, but it seems that only the python version of app engine supports the import of gdata apis whilst java does not. So its either web based and version 1.0 of the api or non-web based and version 3.0 of the api. I actually need version 3.0 to get access to the extra fields provided by google contacts. So my question is, is there a way to get access to the gdata api under Google App Engine using Java? If not is there an ETA on when version 3.0 of the gdata api will be released for python? Cheers.

Users tend to use weak passwords or store login/password written on a shits of paper where everybody can see them. I'm worried about login/password leakage & want to minimize consequences. Minimizing database-server attack surface by hiding database-server from Intranet access would be a great idea also. I'm thinking about intermediary data access service method-based security. It seems more flexible than table-based or connection-based database-server one. This approach also allows to hide database-server from public Intranet.   I have read a lot lately about 'NoSQL' databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB etc. Most of the websites I have seen using this are mainly text based websites such as The New York Times and Source forge. I was wondering if you could apply this to websites where payment is a huge issue. I am thinking of the following issues: How well can you secure the data Do these system provide an easy backup/restore machanism How are transactions handled commit/rollback I have read the following articles that cover some aspects: Can I do transactions and locks in CouchDB? Pros/Cons of document based database vs relational database In these posts the aspect of transactions if covered. However the questions of security and backups is not covered. Can someone shed some light on this subject? And if possible, does anyone know of some e-commerce websites that have successfully implemented the document based database.
