• Need help figuring out scala compiler errors.

  Hello all, I have been working on a project in scala, but I am getting some error messages that I don't quite understand. The classes that I am working with are relatively simple. For example: abstract class Shape case class Point(x: Int, y: Int) extends Shape case class Polygon(points: Point*) extends Shape Now suppose that I create a Polygon: val poly = new Polygon(new Point(2,5), new Point(7,0), new Point(3,1)) Then if I attempt to determine the location and size of the smallest possible rectangle that could contain the polygon, I get various errors that I don't quite understand. Below are snippets of different attempts and the corresponding error messages that they produce. val upperLeftX = poly.points.reduceLeft(Math.min(_.x, _.x)) Gives the error: "missing parameter type for expanded function ((x$1) = x$1.x)" val upperLeftX = poly.points.reduceLeft((a: Point, b: Point) => (Math.min(a.x, b.x))) Gives this error: "type mismatch; found : (Point, Point) = Int required: (Any, Point) = Any" I am very confused about both of these error messages. If anyone could explain more clearly what I am doing incorrectly, I would really appreciate it. Yes, I see that the second error says that I need type "Any" but I don't understand exactly how to implement a change that would work as I need it. Obviously simply changing "a: Point" to "a: Any" is not a viable solution, so what am I missing?

• Can't open Websphere Portal 7.0 Login Page after its integration with a custom user registry?

  I am currently working on a project related to Websphere Portal 7.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2,64 bit. I am trying to integrate websphere portal with my custom user registry.I have completed all the steps required to implement custom user registry in portal as given in IBM documentation.I am adding my custom repository to the default federated repositories of Portal 7.0.I have made the required changes under VMM Federated CUR Properties section in wkplc.properties.I am using configengine.bat file to configure Portal with user registry. But even completing all the steps,when I am trying to open the Portal Login Page through http://ip-address:port_of_portal/wps/portal ,it is throwing an exception on the console: "Error 500: com.ibm.wps.resolver.data.exceptions.URIProcessingIOException: EJCBD0021E: The URI dav:fs-type1/themes/PageBuilder2/theme.html and parameters [['themeURI'=, 'mime-type'= could not be processed: [EJCBD0021E: The URI dav:fs-type1/themes/PageBuilder2/theme.html and parameters [['themeURI'=, 'mime-type'= could not be processed: EJPSG0002E: Requested Member does not exist.uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm/null] " and in logs Systemout.log "EJPSB0005E: Exception occurred during creation of the principal with Name uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm and Principal Type USER caused by com.ibm.portal.puma.MemberNotFoundException: EJPSG0002E: Requested Member does not exist.uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm/null". Here,"portal" is administrative user in my custom user registry.I am able to access WAS using /ibm/console through user "portal".Please suggest some way to handle this issue.

  I am trying to build Linux From Scratch, and now I am at chapter 5.4, which tells me how to build Binutils.   I came upon the Curry-Howard Isomorphism relatively late in my programming life, and perhaps this contributes to my being utterly fascinated by it. It implies that for every programming concept there exists a precise analogue in formal logic, and vice versa.   Which datastructure would you use in the place of X to have efficient merges, sorts and additions as described below? #1 Possible solution: one HashMap to X -datastructure Having a HashMap pointing from fileID to some datastructure linking word, wordCount and wordID may be a good solution. However, I have not found a way to implement it. I am not allowed to use Postgres or any similar tool to keep my data neutralized. • Why does my DataTemplate break the WPF designer?

  Why does the DataTemplate line break the WPF designer in Visual Studio 2008? The program compiles and runs properly. The DataTemplate is applied as it should. It looks like entlib is always using the selectedSource as it configuration. I am referencing the 'log4net.dll' correctly, and by debugging the application i can see that the log object is getting initiated properly. This is a asp.net 3.5 framework web project. Any ideas/suggestions? I thought originally this error may be due to a file write permission constraint, but that doesn't seem to be the case (or so I think).

  hello All, I am new to the programming world of dojo and web applications. I am trying to acomplish a task where I want to manipulate the textbox value with some text. I tried everything including some code from dojocampus, but even this code doesnot do anything. I have also tried to create an instance , with dojo.widget.byId and dijit.byId and then tried the instance.value = 'newtext' and everything that I could find but for some reason , the textbox is not updating. • C# Reflection StackTrace get value

  I'm making pretty heavy use of reflection in my current project to greatly simplify communication between my controllers and the wcf services. What I want to do now is to obtain a value from the Session within an object that has no direct access to HttpSessionStateBase (IE: Not a controller). For example, a ViewModel. I could pass it in or pass a reference to it etc. but that is not optimal in my situation. Since everything comes from a Controller at some point in my scenario I can do the following to walk the sack to the controller where the call originated, pretty simple stuff: var trace = new System.Diagnostics.StackTrace(); foreach (var frame in trace.GetFrames()) { var type = frame.GetMethod().DeclaringType; var prop = type.GetProperty("Session"); if(prop != null) { // not sure about this part... var value = prop.GetValue(type, null); break; } } The trouble here is that I can't seem to work out how to get the "instance" of the controller or the Session property so that I can read from it.

  Hi. I'm reviewing new features of ASP.NET MVC 2.0. During the review i found really interesting using Templated Helpers. As they described it, the primary reason of using them is to provide common way of how some datatypes should be rendered. I put there above code and stacked with the problem. How can i pass the name of the property that I'm rendering with template helper? As you can see from my example, i really need it, since I'm using the name of the property to specify data value and parameter name that will be send during the POST requsest. Also, I'm using it to generate class name for JS calendar building. I tried to remove my partial class for template helper and made MVC to generate its default behavior. Here what it generated for me: <input type="text" value="04/29/2010" name="LoanApplicationDays" id="LoanApplicationDays" class="text-box single-line"> As you can see, it used the name of the property for "name" and "id" attributes. This example let me to presume that Template Helper knows about the name of the property. So, there should be some way of how to use it in custom implementation. Thanks for your help!

• GMail appearing to ignore Reply-To.

  I'm using a gmail account to send emails from my website. I'm using the same account to pick up emails which are generated by the contact facility on my site. I'm using the Reply-To field to attempt to make it easier to hit reply and easily get back to people. The message comes up with the 'from' address and ignores the 'reply-to' address. • Understanding byte order and functions like CFSwapInt32HostToBig

  I've got an enumeration in my game. A simple string message with an appended PacketType is being sent with the message (so it knows what to do with the message) over GameKit WIFI connection. I used Apple's GKRocket sample code as a starting point. The code itself is working fantastically; I just want to understand what the line with CFSwapInt32HostToBig is doing. What on earth does that do? and why does it need to do it? My guess is that it's making sure the PacketType value can be converted to an unsigned integer so it can send it reliably, but that doesn't sound all that correct to me. • PostSharp when using DataContractSerializer?

  I have an Aspect that implements INotifyPropertyChanged on a class. This bypasses the constructor, which I'm guessing interferes with the way that PostSharp sets itself up. This ends up causing a NullReferenceException in an intercepted property setter, but before it has called the custom OnPropertySet, so I'm guessing it interferes with setting up the LocationInterceptionArgs. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a way I can work around it? I did some more research and discovered I can fix the issue by doing this: [OnDeserializing] private void OnDeserializing(StreamingContext context) { AspectUtilities.InitializeCurrentAspects(); } I thought, okay, that's not too bad, so I tried to do this in my Aspect: private IEnumerable<MethodInfo> SelectDeserializing(Type type) { return type.GetMethods(BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Public).Where( t => t.IsDefined(typeof (OnDeserializingAttribute), false)); } [OnMethodEntryAdvice, MethodPointcut("SelectDeserializing")] public void OnMethodEntry(MethodExecutionArgs args) { AspectUtilities.InitializeCurrentAspects(); } Unfortunately, even though it intercepts the method properly, it doesn't work. I'm thinking the call to InitializeCurrentAspects isn't getting transformed properly, since it's now inside the Aspect rather than directly inside the aspect-enhanced class. Is there a way I can cleanly automate this so that I don't have to worry about calling this on every class that I want to have the Aspect?

  Hello, I am writing an Apache module in C++. I need to store the common data that all childs need to read as a portion of shared memory. Structure is kind of map of vectors, so I want to use STL map and vectors for it. I have written a shared allocator and a shared manager for the purpose, they work fine for vectors but not for maps, below is the example: typedef vector<CustomersData, SharedAllocator<CustomersData> > CustomerVector; CustomerVector spData; //this one works fine typedef SharedAllocator< pair< const int, CustomerVector > > PairAllocator; typedef map< int, CustomerVector, less<int>, PairAllocator > SharedMap; SharedMap spIndex; //this one doesn't work I get compile time errors when I try to use the second object (spIndex), which are someting like: ../SpatialIndex.h:97: error: '((SpatialIndex*)this)-SpatialIndex::spIndex' does not have class type It looks like the compiler cannot determine a type for SharedMap template type, which is strange in my opinion, it seems to me that all the template parameters have been specified.
