• Grails, app-engine, jpa - beginner having trouble with grails generate-all

  I'm trying to learn about grails with Google App Engine and JPA by following a few tutorials: http://www.morkeleb.com/2009/08/12/grails-and-google-appengine-beginners-guide/ http://inhouse32.appspot.com/index.html http://grails.org/plugin/app-engine I've got grails 1.3.0 RC 2, and App Engine SDK 1.3.3, and I'm using Windows 7. The steps that I try are: grails create-app appname cd appname grails install-plugin app-engine. I answer jpa when asked about jdo/jpa. • Edit TabControl template in Silverlight project

  I'm trying to modify the template for the TabControl in my silverlight application. I used Expression Blend to get the Template and copied it into my project. I did this before for Expander and got it to work with a few minor adjustments. The template for TabControl references the ns/assembly "clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls.Primitives;assembly=System.Windows.Controls" and uses the TabPanel control from it. I can't seem to make a reference to this. • Records not being saved to core data sqlite file

  I'm a complete newbie when it comes to iOS programming and much less Core Data. It's rather non-intuitive for me, as I really came into my own with programming with MATLAB, which I guess is more of a 'scripting' language. At any rate, my problem is that I had no idea what I had to do to create a database for my application. So I read a little bit and thought I had to create a SQL database of my stuff and then import it. Long story short, I created a SQLite db and I want to use the work I have already done to import stuff into my CoreData database. I tried exporting to comma-delimited files and xml files and reading those in, but I didn't like it and it seemed like an extra step that I shouldn't need to do. So, I imported the SQLite database into my resources and added the sqlite framework. I have my core data model setup and it is setting up the SQLite database for the model correctly in the background. When I run through my program to add objects to my entities, it seems to work and I can even fetch results afterward. However, when I inspect the Core Data Database SQLite file, no records have been saved. • Why do I get a null pointer exception from TabWidget?

I've tried "getLayoutInflator()" instead of "LayoutInflator.from(this)" with the same result. If I replace the LayoutInflater line with "setContentView(R.layout.unit_view)" my program doesn't crash with a null pointer exception but my content is completely blank and empty. I get the tab and that's it. I've checked to make sure R.layout.unit_view and tabHost are not null when it runs the LayoutInflater line and they seem to be fine. They're defenitely not null. I've also checked to make sure LayoutInflater.from(this) returns a valid layout inflater object and it does. • EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) at random during use of app. Bug in AppKit?

  I'm currently testing a new version of an app of mine on OSX 10.5 An user reported some weird crashes during use of the application, sadly not reproducible by me. At first sight it seems to happen randomly, once he had the crash while opening an NSOpenPanel and once during focusing an NSTextField and once during NSView switch in a parent view. If you have any idea which area I should look at it would be greatly appreciated! I'm completely lost here. • Couldn't get connection factory client - fighting with Google Maps

  another day another problem, I finally managed to set up correctly google maps on my android application, or at least I thought I've done it, the whole progam starts, it even call the class which should "print" a map, but the only thing I can see is a grid with google label on it [ in the corner ]. I've checked the dalvik monitor and the error E/MapActivity(394): Couldn't get connection factory client occurs. I've find out on stackoverflow website that I should sent a gps signal or sth like this from dalvik monitor, and I've done it.   I'm trying to synchronize my encryption and decryption methods between C# and PHP but something seems to be going wrong. Both contain a TextView showing the title and the first one contains an EditText in which the user types a message and clicks on a button on its side, the second activity is launched which shows the message the user types. It has the following problems: The title (the first TextView in both the activities) doesn't show in the middle of the line, despite of the android:gravity="center_horizontal" attribute. The EditText in the first activity does not show at all. When I click on the button, the app stops saying "Unfortunately Write n Display and stopped.", rather than launching the second activity at all. I don't have adequate knowledge about logcat, but I have followed the steps somebody had told me, that is WindowOpen Perspective Other DDMS Then run the app and select the package name from the Devices and click on log cat, select the exception(s) and export to text file. • Why does this XML validation via XSD fail in libxml2 (but succeed in xmllint) and how do I fix it?

  If I run this XML validation via xmllint: xmllint --noout --schema schema.xsd test.xml I get this success message: .../test.xml validates However if I run the same validation via libxml2's C API: int result = xmlSchemaValidateDoc(...) • How to programatically read native DLL imports in C#?

  The large hunk of C# code below is intended to print the imports of a native DLL. I copied it from from this link and modified it very slightly, just to use LoadLibraryEx as Mike Woodring does here. I find that when I call the Foo.Test method with the original example's target, MSCOREE.DLL, it prints all the imports fine. But when I use other dlls like GDI32.DLL or WSOCK32.DLL the imports do not get printed. What's missing from this code that would let it print all the imports as, for example, DUMPBIN.EXE does? (Is there a hint I'm not grokking in the original comment that says, "using mscoree.dll as an example as it doesnt export any thing"?)   I have problem. If yes: Is it secure enough to create the encrypted form input elements without p12 certificate? • Android Out of memory regarding png image

  I have a jpg image in my app that shows correctly. In my listview i'd like to make the image more transparent so it is easier to see the text. I changed the image to a png format and altered it's opacity in GIMP. Now that the new image is in the app drawable folder. • Trying to draw textured triangles on device fails, but the emulator works. Why?

  I have a series of OpenGL-ES calls that properly render a triangle and texture it with alpha blending on the emulator (2.0.1). When I fire up the same code on an actual device (Droid 2.0.1), all I get are white squares. This suggests to me that the textures aren't loading, but I can't figure out why they aren't loading. All of my textures are 32-bit PNGs with alpha channels, under res/raw so they aren't optimized per the sdk docs. Edit4: Tried switching around when I do texture loading. No luck. Tried using a constant offset of 0 to glGenTextures, no change.   Coders, I am building a VS 2010 extension and I am experimenting around some of the samples that came with the VS 2010 SDK. One of the sample projects is called TextAdornment. Now my question is the following: what makes this class being the first class to get called when VS starts? In other words, why this class gets active and it runs as of some code instantiate an object of this class type? • SQL Server 08 Express error when connecting to localhost - "Timeout expired". Works with ::1 or 127

  EDIT New info: Navigating to localhost:1434 in Chrome gives me an "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE", while other ports give me an "Oops! This link appears to be broken". So it seems to binding ok there? So here's my setup so far: I've configured Windows Firewall to allow TCP on 1433 and UDP on 1434. I've set up SQL Server to use any IP on Port 1433 (using the SQL Server Configuration Manager). My hosts file contains the default entries ("127.0.0.1 localhost" and "::1 localhost"). I sometimes have a debug session of Visual Web Developer running a webserver, but it's on a specific port (localhost:5XXXX). What I've tried: I CAN ping localhost in a cmd prompt. I CAN connect to the database through SSMS if I specify 127.0.0.1 or ::1 as the server name. I CAN'T connect to the database through SSMS (or ADO.NET) if I specify localhost as the server name. I've tried both Windows and SQL Authentication The error I get is the standard Can't connect to localhost. Additional Information -- Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (Microsoft Sql Server) Other considerations: Stopping the Visual Web Developer web server from the taskbar doesn't affect the sql problem. The SQL error log says that it's listening on some piped name url at start up (I don't see how this would affect localhost but not 127.0.0.1 though). I could probably just use 127.0.0.1 everywhere, but it scares me that localhost isn't working and I'd like to figure out why. I'm not much of a networking or sql server guy so I'm stuck. If you want me to try anything to help diagnose just put it in a comment and I'll give it a go.
