  I'm creating a mobile website with jQuery, and I was wondering if there was a way to align a list to the bottom of a page, I just want the list to stay at the very bottom of the page, and be fixed in the spot. • ASP.NET Setting Flash file path for Object tag inside a usercontrol

  I have a an ASP.NET user control where i wanto run a flash movie using flashplayer.How can i set the path of flash movie file properly so that this would work in all pages irrespective of the folders. ie; it should work inside a page in FolderA and a page in FolderASub1 which is in FolderA and a page in the Root folder too.My Flash file resides in a Folder called FlashGallery in root.My User control resides in a Subfolder in Root. I am not sure how can use ~ here .Since its(Object tag to play flash) not a server control. And infact i cant place the full relative path too. Anythoughts ?

  Basically, I am attempting to render an external website (the url of which is stored in the database) into a page in my Ruby on Rails app. I have a field in my model 'search' called 'search' that contains web addresses with the form 'www.example.com' or 'example.com'. I am trying to use a link_to_function call with replace_html to replace the 'maincontent' div with an iframe tag using the value of 'search' in the current instance as the src for the tag. My current attempt is the very ugly code below. I'd be grateful for either of the following types of responses: How can I rewrite the concatenation string to work correctly? How can I get the same effect (replacing the current content of the "mainContent" div with an iframe tag using a different method? • WP: redirect users to a certain category using cookies

  Basically like cragslist. once you select city on craigslist, nexttime when you go to the site, it redirects you to the city you selected. What I want to achieve: When a person comes to the site and selects a particular category, the next time they come to the site (returning user) - the page will open up on that category section. I would think this would be fairly easy to do via setting a cookie when the visitor clicks on the category link (or when the category page loads). When they return the following time, the cookie is read and then the page redirects accordingly. Unfortunately my knowledge of PHP and cookies is limited, (hence my search for answers) so I need to ask if anyone can help me out! Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

• How to concatenate text on existing database entry?

  I have a table, whose fields are id, name, link the link holds the name of the page like "link" = "index.php". Now I want to update this field and add "page=" in front of "index.php". Using this method I would like to update every entry in my table. My desired SQL syntax need to be something like this UPDATE mytable set link= 'page=' + <existing value of link> WHERE 1; I am using 'WHERE 1;' to denote every row. Anyone know how to accomplish this?

• problem with generating PDF and session_start()

  Hi All, I've been using PDF class produced by R&OS successfully in a number of recent developments. I'd like to use it in a page that performs a database query before generating a PDF (it's basically a summary of the session, so I'm using session_id() as part of the query) All is fine if I run this in Firefox - not fine in IE. I think the loading of session_start() is doing something with headers that's upsetting IE as it appears unable to load the page (comment off session_start and the page loads fine). I'm getting a little concerned as, on further investigation, it appears that R&OS is not supported ... bad newbie learning experience and I really don't want to have to try adopt another class system this late in the day. Have you any thoughts as to what I could try next? Thankx G

  I am currently building my own CMS for various reasons that could take a long to explain... However i am looking for a dynamic solution to create templates for pages within the CMS and all areas must be editable via the administration area, maybe large text areas broken into multiple areas, text and image area on a page etc. Following on from the above i would like to create the following: Create a new page (selecting a pre-defined template like below) http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9872/nestedpages.png and then upon editing the page it would have created as many text editors required for each editable region or a file upload control for an image area for example. i am thinking of using nested masterpages for the design elements, just unsure the best-practice way to achieve the above (db structure etc) I somehow hope this provides enough information but are happy to answer any questions you may have.   I have an internal web page that I have an iframe with the source pointing to a webdav folder. This allows the user to drag and drop a number of files on the iframe window which a button on the main page then kicks off a server side task to process the files. I am looking for an alternative that will allow me to drag a group of files and drop them onto a target area of a web page which will then upload them to the web server. Ideally this would be in ASP.Net 2,3 or 4. Any suggestions? TIA J

• Pattern for unidirectional has_many join?

  It occurred to me that if I have a has_many join, where the foreign model does not have a belongs_to, and so the join is one way, then I don't actually need a foreign key. We could have a column, category_ids, which stores a marshaled Array of IDs which we can pass to find.   hi, I develop a web application it is working fine in local. When i upload the site in online through CuteFTP it is showing the error like this... Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. please help me i place the but even though it is not working it is giving same error.   I have a page in ASP.NET where I'm using a Repeater to display a record listing. But it's slow as molasses, I've been tasked with speeding it up (sorting,paging). I've got it set up as follows: When user enters page, grab all of the data from the database (500 records, up to 4 relation'ed records) Store it all in Application["MyDataView"] On sort or paging, simply use the data view's internal sort/page method (no db calls) and rebind. I understand that databases can take time to query, but simply to have the DataView call it's sort method (no db calls) takes 10ish seconds, that's an alarmingly slow. Two questions: Why is it taking so long? How can I speed it up? A gridview is not possible.

  Django view points to a function, which can be a problem if you want to change only a bit of functionality. Yes, I could have million keyword arguments and even more if statements in the function, but I was thinking more of an object oriented approach. For example, I have a page that displays a user. This page is very similar to page that displays a group, but it's still not so similar to just use another data model. Group also has members etc... One way would be to point views to class methods and then extend that class. Has anyone tried this approach or has any other idea?

I've found this Release Notes page and a (short) summery table at the top of the language tutorial but neither have dates, so I don't know where to start (and the more detailed notes make for rather dry reading).   Hello, As you must have seen in gmail, a small popup appears to chat when you click on right bottom corner of your screen. Interestingly, this popup remains open and at the same place even when we navigate from one webpage to another. How can this be done? It doesn't look as though it's different page.   iam using asp.net and asp.net-ajax every thing happens on browser urls are of format http://somepage#page1 http://somepage#page2 http://somepage#page3 now all these urls are in a secured folder when logged in user directly types (or use bookmark) a url like below, he is shown that page http://somepage#page2 -- (bookmarked url lying in secured folder) now when a user user who is not logged in directly type above url he gets redirected to login page but on login page in redirection url iam unable to read characters after pound (#) sign. iam just getting redirection url= "http://somepage" while i want it to be "http://somepage#page2" is there is any way i can do this

  Hello, I have a shopping cart in Codeigniter in which products are added to the cart using (jQuery) Ajax. In the header of each page it displays the number of contents in the cart using <?php echo $this->cart->total_items(); ?> How can I update/refresh this variable when a product is added to the cart, as I am using AJAX to add products to the cart and thus the page isn't being reloaded when products are added. It seems pointless to use AJAX to do asyncronous stuff if I have to reload the page to get the new number of total items from the server. Many thanks.

• Spring / Hibernate project with Tomcat and JQuery.

  Hi, I have a Dynamic Web Project that implements Spring and Hibernate using a Tomcat Server (v6). I'm lauching Tomcat with my Eclipse Galileo and I'm not getting any errors in the console but Tomcat is rendering my webpages randomly. The page just keep loading but without displaying anything, there's nothing on the console either. When I go in debug mode, it goes throught the right steps, everything seems alright. When I display the source code on the web browser (Firefox latest build) it shows me the right code that is needed to display the page I called. What am I not getting here? Plus when I stop Tomcat, it renders a part of the page. I'm wondering if JQuery could be the problem? The thing is that it's a collaborative project and that the others managed to run the web application in the most alright way. Please, share your experience with me.

Are there static pages created by a site like Facebook that update semi frequently. Does Google attempt to store every possible user name? As I understand it, a page like www.facebook.com/username, is not an actual file stored on disk but is shorthand for a query like: select username from users and display the information on the page. How does Google know about every user, this gets even more complicated when things like tweets are involved.

• Is the XP VMM a bottleneck on a multi core machine?

  I have a dual Xeon hex core machine running an IO intensive application. (WinXP 32) I am seeing a hardware driver (1/2 user mode, 1/2 kernel, streaming data) that is using 6k delta page faults per second. When other applications load or allocate large amounts of memory the driver's hardware buffer gets an underrun (application not feeding it fast enough). Could this be because the kernel is only using one core to service page fault interrupts?

• In Visual Studio 2010, intellisense isn't showing for long method signatures

  The problem is exactly as asked in the question title. When I'm typing in the text editor and referencing a public method that has a long signature (lots of parameters, usually 10 or more) the intellisense just stops working. It will sometimes flicker; other times it will not show at all. Only seen this happen with C#, but I don't use anything else. It might happen in VB too. Don't know. Anyone else seeing this? I've Googled for an hour but can't seem to iron it out. I've restarted VS, rebooted the machine, enabled/disabled intellisense in Tools - Options. NOTHING works.
