  HI, I hope somebody can help, i keep getting the following message when i log on-- Your Javascript is disabled. Limited functionality is available. it will stay for maybe a day sometimes two.I have uninstalled javascript and reinstalled but still the same. • PHP on IIS7 not showing pages

  I have a PHP website on a Windows 7 machine I'm working with and it cannot be viewed by any browser - IE, Chrome, Firefox. When navigating to the root of the website (default index.php) the browser reports it cannot find the address. Not a 404 error from the webserver, just as if it cannot resolve the name. Other websites in the same default web application that are also PHP work perfectly. I've aligned all folder permissions and everything else but this has got me stumped. I even went as far to create a new folder and throw in a test phpinfo() page and it worked. Copied this website's content to the new folder and it cannot find the index.php page. I checked all setting I know and can't seem to find what I'm missing. Anyone else encounter this issue? Remember the fix for it?

• Nginx Restart Issues

They exist on the server but when loading the resources directly in Chrome they say "Oops this page can't be found." I set a special group and user to run my apache files using suexec for my domain files. I think the nginx are owned by root however which I'm assuming is the problem but which nginx file ownerships would I change?

• Normalize Accept-Encoding via HAProxy for optimized Squid hit rate

  Our website infrastructure uses HAProxy for load balancing, a Squid cluster for caching, and application data is on an IIS cluster. We load balance HAProxy by URI to optimize the Squid hit-rate, but we know that Squid is holding different copies of each page based on the Accept-Encoding header passed to it by the browser, and so IE (gzip, deflate) will have a different copy of a cached page than Firefox (gzip,deflate) or Chrome (gzip,deflate,sdch). We want to normalize the Accept-Encoding headers and I think the best place to do so would be in HAProxy. I'd appreciate it if someone could offer some ideas on how to accomplish this without breaking support for clients without gzip or deflate support.

• Get a "sqlceqp35.dll" error when debugging but not when running deployed code.

  In our current windows mobile project a problem while debugging recently arised. When trying to debug the code it throws an exception on the open command on a connection to the local database. The message is "A SQL Server Compact DLL could not be loaded. Reinstall SQL Server Compact Edition. [ DLL Name = sqlceqp35.dll ]". Sometime it's an unknow error instead, with reference to the same file. If you execute the binary, thats deployd during the debug, on the device it runs without any problem. I've tried: Reinstall both .net and sqlce on the device. Changed the "specific version" on the reference properties in the project. The hardware I'm using is a Motorola MC70 with Windows mobile 5.0. The target platform of the project is windows mobile 5.0. Any ideas on what might cause this problem? EDIT: When I tried it on a MC75 I can debug it. The MC70 got OS Version: 05.01.0478 and the MC75 05.01.0478. My best guess now is that it's someway related to the OS version or the actual device.

• Looking for fast, minimal, preferrably free disc cloning software [closed]

  We have to test our application installation and functionality on many Windows operating system versions and languages (XP, Vista, Win7; English, Spanish, Portuguese, etc; 32-bit & b4-bit.) While we can do much of this in virtual machines, we have noticed that VM's sometimes hide problems, or raise false bugs. So, we need to do "bare metal" OS installation for much of our testing. I have been using Acronis True Image for the past year, and am not impressed. It often gives random errors which require a reboot, and is really slow. For example, when trying to restore an image, it goes through a "Locking partition" cycle about three times (once after you click OK on each step of the wizard), each of which can take 5 minutes to complete. This all happens BEFORE it actually starts the image copy, which is sometimes quick (3-5 minutes), sometimes long (hours). The size of all of our images are roughly the same, so that is not related. So, anyway, I'm looking to switch to something else: I only need very basic functionality--just creating images of entire discs, and then restoring those images onto the exact same hard drive at a later date. That's it. I'm not opposed to paying for a good piece of software, but if there is something free out there that does the job well, that would be a preference. My OS on which the imaging software would run is Windows Vista, but a bootable media (into a Linux flavor) would be fine also, as long as its quick to use and reliable. Recommendations? (Also, moderators, if this should be a CW, I'll be happy to mark it as such; unclear about the rules there.)

• How come my form input sometimes moves when I refresh the page?

  On a page that I'm designing I have a form with one input of type text. Normally, this form and input render properly in my browser, Chrome, but occasionally, it renders about 20 pixels to the left of where it is supposed to be. When I refresh the page, it goes back to the original, correct place. I have only tested in Chrome so far, so this isn't a cross-browser issue (it happens in the same browser). Is there anything wrong with my code below? • how can I parse and group/do stats on user agent strings?

  I have a database that has the various user-agent strings of visitors to our site. I'd like to do a 'survey' of them to see what browsers our users are using, so that I can know what features I can use in future development. Is there a tool to parse and run statistics on user-agent strings, or a bunch of strings like this? Ideally, I'd like to see a hierarchical grouping of the stats. • Setting to change IE behavior of remembering the passwords when opening the same url in different wi

  I have windows XP with SP3 on my system. My current IE version is 8. Now for some product testing, I want to log-in 100 users to a website one after other. My problem is IE8 remembers the passwords, so when I log-in to the website and open the same url in some other window, I am already signed in with the previous username and password. What setting do I need to change so that this doesn't happens? Or is there any other web browser that doesn't behave like this? I tried Google Chrome, Opera and Mozilla Firefox.

I'm in my 3rd year Electrical Engineering and I'm passionate about coding, algorithms, Linux OS, etc. And also by Googling I found out that Linux OS is one of the best OSes for Embedded devices(may be/may not be). I want to work for companies which work on mobile applications. I'm a newbie/naive to this domain & my skills include C/C++ & MySQL. I need help to get started in the domain of Embedded Systems; like how/where to start off, Hardware prerequisites, necessary programming skills, also what kind of Embedded Applications etc. I've heard of ARM, firmware, PIC Micorcontrollers; but I don't know anything & just need proper introduction about them.   I wish to send multiple requests to the server, simultaneously. The problem statement will be: Read a text file containing multiple URL’s. Open each URL in the web browser. Collect the Cookie information for each call, and store it to a file. Send another call: http://myserver.com:1111/cookie?out=text Store the output (body text) of this file to a separate file for each call made in 4 Open the next URL in the text file given in 1 and repeat steps 1-6. The above is to be run with multi-threading, so that I can send around 5-10 URL requests simultaneously. I have implemented something in Selenium using Java, but have not been able to do the multi-threading approach. Then when I capture the cookie information from here and store it, I open another window to output all the cookie information for that server to my browser window. This works fine when I do outside of Selenium code, but when I do it within the above code, it opens a "Save As..." popup and my tests stop. :-( I wish to save the contents of that second call to a new file, but have not been able to do the same. Also, if I have to send multiple such requests to the server, how would that be possible in Java using a Selenium Framework. Currently, I am opening multiple instances of the framework and running them with different parameters :-(

• How can I unlock a file without closing the file handle?

  When I'm downloading a video file with Google Chrome, the file is locked and cannot be opened by media players. I want to be able to play the file while it's being downloaded. The video bitrate is lower than my Internet bandwidth so it wouldn't be a problem. Popular unlockers work by closing file handles, which would interrupt the download. How can I remove the read-lock without closing the file handle? Can I replace the read-lock with a write-lock?

  I have tab delimited data with multiple columns. I have OS names in column 31 and data bytes in columns 6 and 7. What I want to do is count the total volume of each unique OS. • Cannot access https sites through any browser on Win XP?

  This isnt a firewall issue, I can telnet to gmail with no problems, but all browsers (chrome, IE, firefox) return a This web page is not available. error when tring to access it through the browser. I can access the same pages, using the same browsers, on the same machine, but through a different user account with no problem. What the hell is going on? Help appreciated. Edit: This is definitely a windows setup issue - I have just created a new admin account and can access https with problems. This is seriously infuriating.

I'd like to add a Calendar picker control to my iPad app that is similar in appearence and functionality to the Calendar picker control in the upper right corner of the native Calendar app on the iPad. I've looked into a couple of the 3rd party frameworks that have Calendar controls like this (such as the Tapku Library), but because I'm new to iPhone OS development, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use them, mostly because the ones I've looked at have little or no documentation. • Could not open IPV6 addr on web browser

  I have ipv6 address fe80::21f:a4ff:fe91:2e44%4. This is the address of modem/router. I am unable to open this address in browser to view the web configuration. I am able to telnet to fe80::21f:a4ff:fe91:2e44%4, view the console UI & can do settings. I can also open 192.168.1.1(IPv4 address of modem/router) in browser. I tried [fe80::21f:a4ff:fe91:2e44] in all browsers like IE, Firefox & Chrome. It was not possible.

  In Chrome, when I click on a mailto: link, I'd like to be taken to my Gmail's Compose window. So I downloaded ChromeMailer and it works relatively well. However, after using Outlook 2010, the default for the mailto reverts to Outlook. I went into Outlook's Options, clicked Default Programs... and was greeted with this: As you can see, the checkbox is grayed out and I can't do anything to changed it. Clicking Select All checkbox does nothing either. How do I stop Outlook from stealing the mailto protocol handler?

• File not updating in symlink'd folder in IIS

  I have the following setup: Site1/Shared/ - Physical folder Site2/Shared/ - symlink using mklink to Site1/Shared I've updated a javascript file in Site1/Shared/scripts, and the change is being reflected on Site1. However, the change is not being reflected through IIS on Site2. When I open Site1/Shared/scripts/common.js and Site2/Shared/scripts/common.js, they match exactly. But when I view the files through Safari, Firefox, Chrome, IE, from any machine (even machines that have never visited the sites), the change is not reflected on Site2. Here are URLs to the files to review: Site 1: http://www.landsofamerica.com/shared/scripts/common.js Site 2: http://www.landsoftexas.com/shared/scripts/common.js These files look exactly the same when logged onto the server, and the shared folder under landsoftexas.com is a symlink created using mklink to the shared folder under landsofamerica.com. Any idea what might be causing IIS to serve the wrong file?

• IE8 complains about SSL name mistmatch

  When visiting an SSL protected website, IE8 complains about the certificate name not matching the website address, but gives no information about the certificate or what name it's looking for. Visiting the same site in IE9 (or IE9 in "IE8 mode"), Firefox, Chrome, and Safari shows no problems, and that the certificate matches the address. Certificate checkers indicate everything is installed and configured correctly. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is this a known issue or bug in IE8? I've been Googling for similar issues, but due to the uncertainty as to what's actually going on, I'm not sure what to search for. My problem reads similar to this question. However, my server is running Apache2.

• Reading from a database located in the Program Files folder using ODBC

  We have an application that stores its database files in a subfolder of the Program Files directory. These files are redirected to the VirtualStore in Vista and Windows 7. We represent data from the database using Microsoft DataReports (VB6). So far so good. But we now want to use Crystal Reports XI to represent data from the database. Our idea is to NOT pass this data to CR from our program, but to have CR retreive it from the database using a a system DSN through ODBC. In this way we hope to present our users with more flexibility in designing their own reports. What we do want to ensure though is that these system DSNs are configured correctly when the user installs our program or when the program calls the Crystal Report. Is there a smart way to do this using System variables for instance, instead of having to write a routine that checks for OS-version, whether UAC is enabled on the OS, whether the write restrictions on the Program Files folder have been lifted, etc and then adapts he System DSN to point to either the C:\Program Files\OurApp\Data folder, or the C:\Users\User\AppData\VirtualStore\Program Files\OurApp\Data folder? Suggestions for an entirely different approach are welcome too!

• Conditionally overriding a system method via categories in Objective-C?

  Hi Is there a way to provide a method implementation (that bears the exact same name of a method defined by the framework) only when the method isn't already defined in the system? For example method [NSSomeClass someMethod:] exists only in Mac OS X 10.6 and if my app runs in 10.5, I will provide that method's definition in a category. But when the app runs in 10.6, I want the OS-provided method to run. Background: I'm creating an app targeted for both 10.5 and 10.6. The problem is that I recently realized that method +[NSSortDescriptor sortDescriptorWithKey:ascending:] only exists in 10.6 and my code is already littered by that method call. I could provide a default implementation for it (since this time it's not too difficult to implement it myself), but I want the "native" one to be called whenever my app runs on 10.6. Furthermore if I encounter similar problems in the future (with more difficult-to-implement-myself methods), I might not be able to get away with providing a one-liner replacement. This question vaguely similar to Override a method via ObjC Category and call the default implementation? but the difference is that I want to provide implementations only when the system doesn't already has one. • Barcode scanner work in browser

  I have a Manhattan Barcode scanner Contact CCD Handheld 80mm scan width, USB. I have connected it to Windows 7 x64. I managed to get it to scan several barcodes by configuring it to USB Mode. If I open up Notepad it scans and displays the barcodes correctly. But when I set the cursor in a textbox in my browser (IE9 beta, Firefox 3.6 or Chrome 8.0 beta), it scans correctly but opens the download dialog afterwards. This gets triggered by CTRL+J normally.... What did I do wrong? I tried several barcodes (Code128 and several others) and tried different browsers and Notepad. it works in Notepad but doesn't in the browsers...
