• Granting rights on postgresql database to another user

  I'm trying to set up a system with a PostgreSQL database per user, with a PHP-FPM resource pool for an associated account. I need to grant all privileges on the database to the other user, but it seems that it's only possible to do this for tables. I've tried grant all privileges on database username to username_shadow but this gives only limited privileges. I've upgraded to PGSQL 9.2, which has the ability to grant privileges on schema, but I can't get a useful result. How do I simply make another user have all the privileges of the first on the same database?

  I migrated a Redmine installation from an Ubuntu machine to a Debian one (both 32-bits), and now for some reason, for some users it doesn't return the page but only a 200 OK message. If I run yum groupinstall development, yum is smart enough to pull the gcc package from the RHEL repo even though the groups are defined in my internal repository. However, is this the proper way of doing this, or should I copy the rpms to my local repository and recreate the repo?

  I'm developing an iPad application that will have integration with IBM Cognos in the near future. As part of that integration I have a very special requirement: It should be possible to open my application from Cognos Mobile app (the native app). Common sense tells me it's not possible to do that, since Cognos Mobile is a closed application, but it wouldn't hut to ask anyway. Is it possible to do that? What about the other way around? iOS uses URL Schemas to open apps from other apps, but as far as I know Cognos Mobile doesn't register any Url Schema to interact with it. Thank you!

• Development environment clean installation

  Hi there! I'm about to install a new and clean development environment. To accomplish that, I would like a Windows operating system (possibly Windows 7) and a Ubuntu one (possibly the most recent, 10.04). To allow sharing data between the two operating systems, I'm thinking to create a partition (workspace, for example) with using NTFS to format it and that be automatically mounted by Ubuntu. In terms of the partitioning schema, how would be better to organize the previous mentioned partitions? Thanks in advance, Best regards!

• Statsd, Graphite and graphs

  I've setup Graphite and statsd and both are running well. I'm using the example-client.py from graphite/examples to measure load values and it's OK. I started doing tests with statsd and at first it seemed ok because it generated some graphs but now it doesn't look quite well. First, this is my storage-schema.conf: pattern = .* retentions = 10:2160,60:10080,600:262974 I'm using this command to send data to statsd: echo 'ssh.invalid_users:1|c'| nc -w 1 -u localhost 8126 it executes, I click Update Graph in the Graphite web interface, it generates a line, hit again Update and the line disappears. If I execute the previous command 5 times, the graph line will reach 2 and it will actually save it. Again running the same command two times, graph line reaches 2 and disappears. I can't find what I have misconfigured. • empty file from tomcat https redirect?

  I am using tomcat 6.0.20, with jdk 1.6.0_18 on 64 bit linux (tomcat downloaded from tomcat.apache.org, not installed from repositories). I have iptables redirects from port 80 - 8080 and 443 - 8443. In server.xml, the connector for port 8080 redirects to 443, and the 8443 connector has proxyPort="443". In conf/web.xml, I have added this bit at the end of the file (but still inside the <web-app</webapp tags). <security-constraint> <web-resource-collection> <web-resource-name>Protected Context</web-resource-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </web-resource-collection> <user-data-constraint> <transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee> </user-data-constraint> </security-constraint> I also have two contexts, ROOT and mywebapp. If I go to http://myurl.com, then I get redirected to https://myurl.com. If I go to http://myurl.com/mywebapp/, then I get redirected to https://myurl.com/mywebapp/. The problem I'm having is when I go to http://myurl.com/mywebapp (no trailing slash). When I do this I get a prompt to download an empty file that has an empty name. Going to https://myurl.com/mywebapp works. I would think that a user typing myurl.com/mywebapp is far from rare. Is there something I'm missing?

• Apache forwarding to tomcat shows a blank page

  I have an application running on tomcat at http ://www.example.com:9090/mycontext. The host name in server.xml points to www .example.com. I do not have localhost anymore. I am using apache to forward requests to tomcat using mod_proxy. Things work fine as long as the ProxyPath is /mycontext. The server name setup in virtual host is www .abc.com and http ://www.abc.com/mycontext works fine. However I would like to ignore the context path and simply use http://www.abc.com/ to forward requests to http://www.example.com:9090/mycontext. When I do this, apache shows me a blank page. What am I missing here? • How do I set up disk quotas over LDAP on CentOs?

  I've been google-ing for some time and I haven't been able to find any resources or hints on the subject. I am wondering if it is possible to do so, if so how? Any nudge in right direction will be appricated. I do know that if you download and install "Linux Quota" from source, you'll get some perl scripts which are supposed to aid with the matter. But there is as far as I know absolutely no good documentation to help you along the way. I am also running a NFS server from the same machine. Note: This is for a university assignment, so I might be totally stupid for asking this question. I am trying to explore the options. If there is a better way of solving this, please do tell. Edit: Here is a link to the site of Linux Quota. They do include a LDAP schema, so it should be possible.

  Spending all day in terminal is beginning to get frustrating. We're working with large CakePHP projects, including a ton of schema files and complex controllers. Whenever I go into a project, and enter svn up, or svn ci my system chokes. It takes a good 15-30 seconds before it returns what revision number I'm on. I'm running OSX 10.6 on a Macbook Pro. Any reasoning behind this? Anyway I could fix this speed issue?

• Apply email retention policy to Inbox but not subfolders?

  Our official email policy states that email older than 90 days in the Inbox is moved to Deleted Items, not including subfolders of the Inbox. This wasn't a problem to implement in Exchange 2003. In 2010, however, it appears that Policy Tags applied to the Inbox also apply to its subfolders. How can I prevent this from occuring? • Strange issue in header location redirect

  I have three websites hosted (example1.com, example2.com, example3.com) on a server. There is a page (test.php) on example1.com with just code below inside it: <?php header('Location:http://example2.com/a.php'); ?> When I browse test.php it goes to http://example1.com/a.php . it doesn't understand it is another domain url, it tried to find the page on itself. but when I put http://google.com instead of example2.com/a.php it works correct. I really get confused. What is the problem ? Should I set some configuration on the server? ( I am administrator of the hosting server ). Ps. The server is behind a pound server. • What is your approach to draw a representation of your network ?

  Hello, I'm looking to the community to see how people are drawing their networks, i.e. using symbols to represent complex topology. You can have hardware approach, where every hardware unit are represented. You can also have "entity" approach, where each "service" is shown. Both are interesting but it is difficult to have both on the same schema (but this is needed, especially using virtualization environment). Furthermore, it is difficult to have complex informations on such representation. For instance security parameters (encrypted link, need for authentication) or specific details (protocol type, ports, encapsulation). So my question is: where your are drawing a representation of your network, what is your approach ? Are you using methodology and/or specific softwares ? What is your recommendations for information to put (or not) ? How to deal with the complexity when the network becomes large and/or you want to put a lot of information on it ? Examples and links to good references will be appreciated.

• How to avoid duplicates when copying files that have been renamed at the destination

  I have to get pictures from a folder – with subfolders which are updated automatically – with their extensions. These files have to be copied in a folder where a website based on PHP will edit them (by renaming and creating an XML file) to be downloadable and integrated in an XML feed. Because of the rename function of the script, when I perform the copy gain, all the files are duplicated, because the script has renamed the original ones already. • Why is "start in" needed for Windows scheduled tasks?

  We develop a web application that can be deployed on Windows or Linux. The Linux implementation uses cron, and the Windows one uses scheduled tasks to run a single PHP script that processes all scheduled tasks for our system. The task is scheduled using schtasks during the install process, like: This has always worked both under W2003 and W2008. A week ago a customer reported that scheduled tasks were not running. He is running on Windows 2008. We checked over and over and finally solved the issue by entering the folder that contains the .vbs script as the "start in" folder for the scheduled task. This said, there is no way to set up the "start in..." value from schtasks without using an XML definition of the tasks. XML definitions don't work in Windows 2003, so I would have to add windows version detection to the installer, additional testing, etc (I'd like to avoid this if at all possible). The only atypical thing I noticed about the install is that the system is installed in D:\ as opposed to the default C:\Program Files (x86)\, but I don't see how this would matter. All the paths are absolute in all the scripts. Can anyone suggest a reasonable solution for this?

I would like to set up one website in IIS for each client that will use this application. And have the URL schema be like this: app.company.com/clientA -- would point to ClientA website in IIS app.company.com/clientB -- would point to ClientB website in IIS Do you guys have any pointers or best practices for my scenario?

• Manage Kickstart library with Puppet

  I maintain a library of different kickstart configurations, mostly for CentOS 5 and 6. It has recently gotten to the point I want to deduplicate as much of this information as possible. I am aware of a couple options out there which can dynamically generate kickstart files. Not interested at this point unless I really need to do that route. I would like to create my Kickstart files using a template along the following line: deploy1-centos5.erb .... install=http://.../$arch/... repo=http://.../$arch/... .... My output naming schema is "deploy1-centos5-x86_64". I'd like to be able to create several kickstart files from a given template, one for 32 bit, one 64, ppc, etc. This would work perfectly if I could readily set the value of arch per each time the template is called to create a file. What is the most ready way to address this?

• Cleaning cruft from the stored configs database

  I have setup stored configuration primarily as a method to manage my ssh known_hosts. Unfortunately as I retire hosts the old configs still exist in my database. The answer seems to be run the command puppet node clean <hostname>. The problem is that while this does command does run, and does clean up some data, it doesn't seem to clean up everything. For example I can still find values in the puppet_tags table that only applied to a hosts that no longer exists. What should I be doing to keep my stored configuration database clean of all extra junk that seems to be building up? P.S. Can anyone point me any documentation for the stored configuration schema?  If I could find good documentation, or at least an entity-relationship-diagram, I would be tempted to just do some manual clean-up.

• Move database from SQL 7 to 2005 / 2008

  I have several pretty large databases located in a SQL Server 7 box. Whats the best way to get them into SQL Server 2008? As far as I know, there were changes to the underlying file structures so I am not sure that a simple detach/attach would work. When I tried attaching from 2008 it complained strongly. "Version no longer supported" etc etc. What options do I have? Are there any tools on the market that can connect to both 7 and 2008 and then move the schema and data?

• Android Actionbar Tabs + Fragments + Service

  So, I have 3 problems with my code: 1) I want that each tab saves its state. So that a TextView shows changed text if it was changed. 2) if I go to Tab2 then to Tab1 I can't see the content of the fragments. Only if I touch on the already selected tab, it shows me the content 3) I can't correctly connect/bind and unbind service to Fragment Text must be changed from Service. Please help, I don't know how I realize my intent.
