• Asp.Net MVC - Plugins Directory, Community etc?

  Good evening everyone, I am currently starting to dive into asp.net mvc and I really like what I see so far.. BUT I am somewhat confused about 'drop-in' functionality (similiar to what rails and it's plugins and nowadays gems are), an active community to contact etc. For rails there's github with one massiv index of plugins/gems/code-examples regarding mostly rails (despite their goal being generic source-code hosting..), for blogs, mailing lists etc it's also pretty easy to find the places the other developers flock around, but... for asp.net mvc I am somewhat lost where to go/look. It all seems scattered across codeplex and private sites, google code hosting etc etc.. but is there one (or few places) where to turn to regarding asp.net mvc development, sample code etc? • Loginview control asp.net mvc

  Hello all, I have been searching and haven't got luck, I got a tutorial to use the loginview control in order to display or hide parts of the views to different user roles in my application. The thing is that the tutorial I've found is for ASP.NET and I've been told by one of my colleages that it is the same framework for ASP.NET MVC but the way to use it is different. Have you got any good tutorial to recommend? EDIT: I've got all my application set up, and the login and the roles already configured (via asp.net membership provider). This is all already running. The thing is that if I have role a and role b I want role a to be able to actually see the links to the actions it is authorized to work with, and not b for example. If in the Index of my application I've got a link to "Edit" and only the role a can access to the action, then it will be displayed just for logged in users that belong to role a, and not to those who belong to role b Thank you, Vikitor

• PHP File Exists Always False

  I have a case where file_exists() is always returning false. My latest attempt was to just test to see if it would return true for $_SERVER["SCRIPT_FILENAME"] and then return the value of the path if it couldn't find the file which it does. The path while not necessarily relevant to solving the problem is: /Users/joe/Workspace/720/app/webroot/index.php I have obviously verified that the file is there, and am not even sure how it couldn't be there since php is serving it up. I should mention this is on an install of OS X Snow Leopard running PHP 5.3.0. Any ideas would be fantastic. • How do you: Symfony functional test on a secure app?

  Im trying to perform some function tests in symfony 1.4. My application is secure so the tests return 401 response codes not 200 as expected. I've tried creating a context and authentication the user prior to performing the test but to no avail. Any suggestions? Do I need to pass sfContext to the sfTestFunctional? • PHP page load seems to be requesting itself and misinterpreting the result

  I'm working on a messy PHP page by another developer and I was analyzing the resource view in the Webkit developer tools and noticed that the page (index.php) makes an HTTP requests for itself and then interprets the results as an image despite it being sent with the text/html header. Because of this it throws the warning: Resource interpreted as image but transferred with MIME type text/html. Looking at the time graph the call comes after the <head> because it has already requested images for the body. Sometimes there are even two 'bad' requests. Can anyone explain what might be happening and/or suggest how to fix this? Could these be related to PHP includes?

  I am implementing a question-and-answer application with Ruby on Rails. I have MVCs for Questions and Answers. In the home view (index.haml), I list the Questions like this: - @questions.each do |q| %tr %td =link_to q.title, q Next to each of those, I want to add a link that will create a new Answer and pass the id of the Question in that row (continued from the above Haml code) : %td #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, pass q.id here somehow?} I don't know how to properly pass it and then access it in AnswersController. I tried #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, :question_id => q.id}, but that was just a guess, and I don't know how to access that in AnswersController. I read the Rails API docs, and I know you can add query, too, but I still don't know how to access the value in AnswersController.

  Hi all, The following code works fine on my WAMP localhost server, but when I try to upload it, to my webhoste, it don't and I'm a bit confused about what's wrong. The code is: <?php if(isset($_GET['menu'])) { if($_GET['menu'] == 3) { echo "<!--Gallery Scripts-->\n"; echo gallery(); } } ?> The purpose is that if the URL is saying: index.php?menu=3 it will run the function "gallery()" which will load the gallery. • UITableView, force to snap to whole UITableViewCell at top of table

  I have a need to make a UITableView only display whole cells at the top of the cell, so when the table is moved or scrolled it should animate to make a whole cell visible at the top of the table if it has happened to stop with a cell partially off the top. This can be easily done using visibleCells and scrollToRowAtIndexPath methods of UITableView, BUT the cell should not always scroll down to move the partial cell into view - if the cell at top is more than 50% gone it should go completely with the next cell (i.e. index 1 in the array returned by visibleCells) moving to the top of the table. I've tried a few things to make this happen but I don't think I am understanding the way frame and bounds work between a UITableView and its UITableViewCells. Any help?

  Hi , I have a table as below dbo.UserLogs ------------------------------------- Id | UserId |Date | Name| P1 | Dirty ------------------------------------- There can be several records per userId[even in millions] I have clustered index on Date column and query this table very frequently in time ranges. The column 'Dirty' is non-nullable and can take either 0 or 1 only so I have no indexes on 'Dirty' I have several millions of records in this table and in one particular case in my application i need to query this table to get all UserId that have at least one record that is marked dirty. I tried this query - select distinct(UserId) from UserLogs where Dirty=1 I have 10 million records in total and this takes like 10min to run and i want this to run much faster than this. [i am able to query this table on date column in less than a minute.] Any comments/suggestion are welcome. my env 64bit,sybase15.0.3,Linux

• Search for short words with SOLR

  I am using SOLR along with NGramTokenizerFactory to help create search tokens for substrings of words NGramTokenizer is configured with a minimum word length of 3 This means that I can search for e.g. "unb" and then match the word "unbelievable". However I have a problem with short words like "I" and "in". These are not indexed by SOLR (I suspect it is because of NGramTokenizer) and therefore I cannot search for them. I don't want to reduce the minimum word length to 1 or 2, since this creates a huge search index. But I would like SOLR to include whole words whose length is already below this minimum. • How do I regenerate statistics in Openx?

  ue to faulty hardware, statistics generated over a 2 week period were significantly higher than normal (10000 times higher than normal). After moving the application to a new server, the problem rectified itself. The issue I have is that there are 2 weeks of stats that are clearly wrong. I have checked the raw impressions table for the affected fortnight and it seems to be correct (ie. stats per banner per day match the average for the previous month). Looking at the intermediate & summary impressions tables, the values are inflated. I understand from the openx forum (http://forum.openx.org/index.php?s=7796fd9dae40e020a010773746f3ada9&showtopic=503424297) it's possible to regenerate stats from the raw data but it will only regenerate stats per hour, meaning regenerating stats for 2 weeks would be very time consuming. Is there another, more efficient way to regenerate the stats from the raw data for the affected fortnight?

  We are experiencing high volume of PageIOLatch_SH waits on our database (row counts in the Billions). However it seems that our drive Idle time Percentage hovers around 50-60 percent. CPU usage is nill. The Database Tuning Advisor gives no suggestions for optimization. The query plan (actual) from the single stored procedure used on the database puts the majority of the expense on index seek (yeah I know these should be optimial) operations. Anyone have suggestions of how to increase throughput?

Ideally I would like to perform assertions on the message but right now I'd be happy if the test just ran! Thanks

  Hello. I'm trying to compile some WiFi drivers I downloaded from SerialMonkey: http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Downloads It's about a driver for a Ralink rt73 chipset. I already got the build-essentials and the kernel-headers on my computer. I am trying to save user settings in SQLServer, but the problem can be expressed in this term:"it needs 20 tables with circular dependencies. and i have enough tables to fill 3 database diagrams", so the best way encountered to my brain is to save it as a sqlite database in a field, like this: Index |Name |Data 1 |Behrooz |*sqlite database here* 2 |User1 |*sqlite database here* ... is this way the right way?is it stupid? should i create more tables instead of doing all these? does it increase database fragmention?

• Isn't INT more efficient than UNIQUEIDENTIFIER?

  I have a parent table and child table where the columns that join them together are the UNIQUEIDENTIFIER type. The child table has a clustered index on the column that joins it to the parent table (its PK, which is also clustered). I have created a copy of both of these tables but changed the relationship columns to be INTs instead, have rebuilt the indexes so that they are essentially the same structure and can be queried in the same way. When I query for a known 20 records from the parent table, pulling in all the related records from the child tables, I get identical query costs across both, i.e. 50/50 cost for the batches. If this is true, then my giant project to change all of the tables like this appears to be pointless, other than speeding up inserts. Can anyone provide any light on the situation?

That seems to be taking it to the extreme to me, so if I'm right as I am, what is the real-world meaning of the "one assert per test" advice?
