  Hi Everyone, I have setup my application to send an email when a new case is created. if @kase.save UserMailer.deliver_contact_confirmation(@user) I have added the following to my user_mailer.rb def contact_confirmation(user) @subject = 'Message Subject' @body = "Message content" @from = "[email protected]" end but...when I create a new case and click submit I get the following: Net::SMTPFatalError in KasesController#create 555 5.5.2 Syntax error. x1sm110877wbx.1 I have added the SMTP details to the environment.rb as follows: ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :smtp ActionMailer::Base.smtp_settings = { :enable_starttls_auto => true, :address => "smtp.gmail.com", :port => "587", :domain => "XXXX.co.uk", :authentication => :plain, :user_name => "[email protected]", :password => "XXXX" } Any ideas? • Silverlight 4 MediaElement play sound

  I converted a local sound file to a resource, which built this in my XAML: <UserControl.Resources> <my:Uri x:Key="SoundFiles">file:///c:/Audio/HebrewDemo/Shalom.wav</my:Uri> </UserControl.Resources> I did this by pasting a local disk mp3 filename into source, then clicked on the "dot" by source and chose "Extract Value to Resource". When I run, it tells me that "Uri" is not valid, and sure enough, in the Intellisense, I see other elements that start with "uri" but not just URI by itself. In the real world I want to specify a dynamic mp3 file name. For example, I might have a database of foreign language words used for flashcards, I want to play a sound file on a URL. But I thought I would try to walk before running...

But I don't want a list that shows: SG MV I want a list that shows: Song Movie I can do this on an individual object basis if I was in the template object.get_type_display But how do I get a list of all of the unique "type" entries in the database as their full names for output into a template? I hope this question was clearly described. . .

• WPF ComboBox Binding to non string object

  I'm using MVVM (MVVM Light Toolkit) and have a property on the view model which exposes a list of objects. The objects contain two properties, both strings, which correlate to an abbreviation and a description. I want the ComboBox to expose the pairing as "abbreviation - description". If I use a data template, it does this easily. I have another property on the view model which represents the object that should display as selected -- the chosen item in the ComboBox. I'm binding the ItemsSource to the list, as it represents the universe of available selections, and am trying to bind the SelectedItem to this object. I'm killing myself trying to figure out why I can't get it to work, and feeling more like a fraud by the hour. In trying to learn why this works, I created the same approach with just a list of strings, and a selected string. This works perfectly. So, it clearly has something to do with the typing... perhaps something in choosing equality? Or perhaps it has to do with the data template? • Validating ModelChoiceField in Django forms

  I'm trying to validate a form containing a ModelChoiceField: state = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=State.objects.all(), empty_label=None) When it is used in normal circumstances, everything goes just fine. But I'd like to protect the form from the invalid input. It's pretty obvious that I must get forms.ValidationError when I put invalid value in this field, isn't it? But if I try to submit a form with a value 'invalid' in 'state' field, I get ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'invalid' and not the expected forms.ValidationError. What should I do? I tried to place a def clean_state(self) to check this field but that didn't work plus I don't think this is a good solution, there must be something more simple but I just missed that.

• Wait for a single RabbitMQ message with a timeout

  I'd like to send a message to a RabbitMQ server and then wait for a reply message (on a "reply-to" queue). Of course, I don't want to wait forever in case the application processing these messages is down - there needs to be a timeout. It sounds like a very basic task, yet I can't find a way to do this. I've now run into this problem with both py-amqplib and the RabbitMQ .NET client. The best solution I've got so far is to poll using basic_get with sleep in-between, but this is pretty ugly: def _wait_for_message_with_timeout(channel, queue_name, timeout): slept = 0 sleep_interval = 0.1 while slept < timeout: reply = channel.basic_get(queue_name) if reply is not None: return reply time.sleep(sleep_interval) slept += sleep_interval raise Exception('Timeout (%g seconds) expired while waiting for an MQ response.' % timeout) Surely there is some better way?

  I've developed an iPhone app that has been running MPMoviePlayer (pre 3.2 SDK) with no problems. I know this is a newbie question, but how do I get a movie to play in the new MPMoviePlayerViewController. I am only getting audio and wish to learn the new view controller. • Voice Recognition Connection problem

  I,m trying to work through and test a Voice Recognition example based on the VoiceRecognition.java example at http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/ApiDemos/src/com/example/android/apis/app/VoiceRecognition.html but when click on the button to create the activity, I get a dialog that says Connection problem. My Manifest file is using the Internet Permission, and I understand it passes the to the Google Servers. Do I need to do anything else to use this.   Hello, Have a look a this simple example. I don't quite understand why o1 prints "Hello Alex" twice. I would think that because of the default self.a is always reset to the empty list. Could someone explain to me what's the rationale here?   Hey MVC experts. I two database entities that i need to represent and i need to output them in a single page. I have something like this Views Def ViewA ViewB Test ViewC I want to ViewC to display ViewA, which displays ViewB.   If I have a catch-all-route like this: match '*request_path' => "pages#show", :as => :page ...and the pages can be arbitrarily nested, how do I make it so I can use the url helper methods? If I have a page structure like this: /about /about/people /about/story /about/story/in-depth Then I want to be able to write page_path(@page) and get /about/story/in-depth for the hypothetical "In Depth Story" page. But instead I'm just getting /in-depth. If I override Page#to_param, and do something like this: def to_param result = "" if parent result << parent.to_param result << "/" end result << super end ... it returns an encoded string like this: /about%2Fstory%2Fin-depth Is there a way to make this work?

  Hi, I have extended Django's User Model using a custom user profile called UserExtension. It is related to User through a unique ForeignKey Relationship, which enables me to edit it in the admin in an inline form! I'm using a signal to create a new profile for every new user: def create_user_profile(sender, instance, created, **kwargs): if created: try: profile, created = UserExtension.objects.get_or_create(user=instance) except: pass post_save.connect(create_user_profile, sender=User) (as described here for example: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/44109/extending-the-user-model-with-custom-fields-in-django) The problem is, that, if I create a new user through the admin, I get an IntegritiyError on saving "column user_id is not unique". It doesnt seem that the signal is called twice, but i guess the admin is trying to save the profile AFTERWARDS? But I need the creation through signal if I create a new user in other parts of the system!

  When using in-app audio in the iPhone SDK, it is possible to allow users to select a list from their ipod library and create an in-app local playlist. If I want to persist this choice, it is easy to serialize the data and write to file, then recover. Just vanilla like this, however, leads me to think there is going to be something wrong. For example, what if the user syncs and removes sounds? I can loop across them all and query the iPod DB at setup time, but with lists that could be 50,000 long, this could take some time. How are other people doing this and what are some gotchas that I haven't though about?

  i'm trying to make a database connection by an other script.   I'm creating an application in Objective-C and I need to get the metadata from a SHOUTcast stream. • local RTP port unreachable when using mjsip/jmf

  Hello, I create a sip session with mjsip to an external voip provider. Then I transmit a test wav file over rtp to the provider using RtpManager. The program runs with no errors and I answer the sip call. However, no audio is transmitted. When I diagnose the network traffic with wireshark, I see a bunch of RTP traffic from my localhost (behind some kind of nat) to the voip provider and nothing back. After a while I get the ICMP error "Destination unreachable (Port unreachable)" from the provider to my localhost. The software linphone works using the same localhost and voip provider - though it is using a different sip stack. Any suggestions? Thanks

• Remove all html tags from attributes in rails

  I have a Project model and it has some text attributes, one is summary. I have some projects that have html tags in the summary and I want to convert that to plain text. I have this method that has a regex that will remove all html tags. def strip_html_comments_on_data self.attributes.each{|key,value| value.to_s.gsub!(/(<[^>]+>|&nbsp;|\r|\n)/,"")} end I also have a before_save filter before_save :strip_html_comments_on_data The problem is that the html tags are still there after saving the project.   Hi I'm trying to take a screen shot of an applet running inside a browser. The applet is using JOGL (OpenGL for Java) to display 3D models. (1) The screen shots always come out either black or white.The current solution uses the usual GDI calls. Screen shots of applets not running OpenGL are fine. • Can I override task :environment in test_helper.rb to test rake tasks?

  I have a series of rake tasks in a Rakefile which I'd like to test as part of my specs etc. Each task is defined in the form: task :do_somthing => :environment do # Do something with the database here end Where the :environment task sets up an ActiveRecord/DataMapper database connection and classes. I'm not using this as part of Rails but I have a series of tests which I like to run as part of BDD. This snippet illustrates how I'm trying to test the rake tasks. def setup @rake = Rake::Application.new Rake.application = @rake load File.dirname(__FILE__) + '/../../tasks/do_something.rake' end should "import data" do @rake["do_something"].invoke assert something_in_the_database end So my request for help - is it possible to over-ride the :environment task in my test_helper.rb file so I my rake testing interacts with the my test database, rather than production? I've tried redefining the task in the helper file, but this doesn't work. Any help for a solution would be great, as I've been stuck on this for the past week.
