mongoid with rails - Database should be a Mongo::DB, not NilClass"

Greetings I am trying to get Mongoid to work with my Rails app and I am getting an error: "Mongoid::Errors::InvalidDatabase in 'Shipment bol should be unique' Database should be a Mongo::DB, not NilClass" I have created the mongoid.yml file in my config directory and have mongodb running as a daemon. The config file is like so: defaults: &defaults host: localhost development: <<: *defaults database: ship-it-development test: <<: *defaults database: ship-it-test production: <<: *defaults host: <%= ENV['MONGOID_HOST'] % port: <%= ENV['MONGOID_PORT'] % database: <%= ENV['MONGOID_DATABASE'] % All of my specs fail with the above error. I am using rails 2.3.8. Anyone have ideas?

jQuery appendTo (switching back and forth)

So what I'm trying to accomplish is a simple appendTo a certain element. Free Testing / Code Coverage systems for C++

I'd like to start using a Test Driven Development system for a private project since I saw my employer using it and realized it was very useful. My employer's project was in C# but mines are in C and C++. I looked around and saw that several packages exist for both Java and .NET (for example: NCover, NUnit, ...). Unfortunately I found it difficult to find good C++ testing frameworks. Do you know of any unit testing frameworks that satisfy the following requirements? IMPORTANT: Must provide code coverage statistics, as I'd like to have some idea of how well my tests cover my code-base. Must be free Usable with C++ projects EDIT: To be clear, I know of many existing unit test frameworks. The code coverage piece is what's most important.

Regular expression only for website

HI, I'm new to Regular Expression. I need to find just website in some text and I'm looking for a regular expression able to find out strings like: www.my.home, http://my.site.it But this regular expression should not find strings like: [email protected] or if the website is already inside html tag <a href="http://www.my.site.com/"><span style="font-style: normal;">www.mambo-test.org</span></a> I tried with this one: \b((https?://[^ ])|(www.[^ ])) but it also finds the website in the href and between the tag: <a href="http://www.my.site.com/"><span style="font-style: normal;">www.mambo-test.org</span></a> and I don't know how except this case.

Making more complicated systems(entity-component-system model question)

I'm using a model where entities are collections of components and components are just data. All the logic goes into systems which operate on components. Making basic systems(for Rendering and handling collision) was easy. But how do I do more compilcated systems? For example, in a CollisionSystem I can check if entity A collides with entity B. I have this code in CollisionSystem for checking if B damages A: if(collides(a, b)) { HealthComponent* hc = a->get<HealthComponent(); hc.reduceHealth(b->get<DamageComponent>()->getDamage()); But I feel that this code shouldn't belong to Collision system. Where should code like this be and which additional systems should I create to make this code generic?

Can mass different log-in pages result in SEO duplicate and/or low quality punishments?

I have internal pages that rely on an external API which I would like to build upon user request. Two options I thought about: Make lots of 'thin' pages that specifies that if you want content about X, you need to log-in, and then the page will be built. Pros: user understands what he'll get when logging in. Cons: SEO implications of such a solution due to the mass 'low quality' and 'cross-sites duplicate content' Make them all redirect to ONE same generic log-in page. Pros: No duplicate low quality content. Cons: Lots of internal links to the same log-in page. Which would you recommend?

C# WinForms: How to load an image, then wait a few seconds, then play a mp3 sound ?

Hello everybody, (after pressing a button) i would like to show an image (using a picturebox), wait a few seconds and then play a mp3 sound, but i dont get it to work. To wait a few seconds i use "System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000)". The problem is, the image alway appears AFTER the wait time, but i want it to show first, then wait, then play the mp3... i tried to use "WaitOnLoad = true" but it doesnt work, shouldn't it load the image first and the continue to read the next code line ?? Here is the code i've tried, that doesnt work: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { pictureBox1.WaitOnLoad = true; pictureBox1.Load("image.jpg"); System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000); MessageBox.Show("test"); //just to test, here should be the code to play the mp3 } (i also tried loading the image with "LoadAsync" and put the code to wait and play the mp3 in the "LoadCompleted" event, but that doesnt work either...) would be very nice if somebody helps me

Alsa version numbers not consistent

I've recently moved from 10.04 to 12.04 and have problems with crackles on audio when the screen changes (especially obvious in a Skype conversation with video). !!Kernel Information !!------------------ Kernel release: 3.2.0-26-generic-pae Operating System: GNU/Linux Architecture: i686 Processor: i686 SMP Enabled: Yes !!ALSA Version !!------------ Driver version: 1.0.24 Library version: 1.0.25 Utilities version: 1.0.25 Running through the SoundTroubleShooting procedures I got the above details at Step 3. Is the mismatch between the Driver version (1.0.24) and the Library and Utilities versions (1.0.25) the cause of my problem, or should I be looking elsewhere? In answers to the question "Will ALSA 1.0.25 version have time to enter 12.04?" I read that 1.0.25 would be part of the new kernel, but my kernel version appears to be newer than the original release.

Using Scanner in Java how can I hasNext(aString) where the string is not regex pattern?

Hi, I am trying to do as my question states, sooo I have the following code which would find the match. String test = scan.next(); if (test.equals("$let")) return 1; However, I would prefer to use hasNext as to not consume a token; however, when i do the following it fails. if (scan.hasNext("$let")) return 1; I realize the when giving has next a variable it expects a pattern, but I thought if i don't have any regex symbols it should work. I also thought $ was possibly some regex symbol so I tried /$ however, that did not work! Thanks for the help!

Connection to DB2 in Python

Hi, I'm trying to create a database connection in a python script to my DB2 database. When the connection is done I've to run some different SQL statements. I googled the problem and has read the ibm_db API (http://code.google.com/p/ibm-db/wiki/APIs) but just can't seem to get it right. I really tried everything (or, not everything but pretty damn close) and I can't get it to work. I just need to make a automatic test python script that can test different queries with different indexes and so on and for that I need to create and remove indexes a long the way. Hello Ive a website that create avatars for users and provide them with link for avatar to use it in their website or singuters etc , my problems is the website based on flash . the main page has 1 swf file that load other swfs used to create avatars , if someone knows the link for the these swf files he can download them which means he can have all the website lets say: www.test.com as main page which load main swf and other swfs files which located at www.test.com/resources/flash/swffiles/file1.swf anyone can grap these files and have all the website which is a big security breach ive trying so many way protect these files from not download but protecting them means the main swf cant talk to them and cant load the main page correctaly , any suggestion for these .. thanks in advance

How do I dynamically name objects in Java?

Let's say I needed to make a series of String[] objects. I know that if i wanted to make a string array called "test" to hold 3 Strings I could do String[] test = new String[3]; But let's say I needed to make a series of these arrays and I wanted them to be named, 1,2, 3, 4, 5... etc. For however many I needed and I didn't know how many I'd need. How do I achieve a similar effect to this: for (int k=0; k=5; k++){ String[] k = new String[3]; } Which would created 5 string arrays named 1 through 5. Basically I want to be able to create array objects with a name detemined by some other function. Why can't I seem to do this? Am I just being stupid?

PHP date function not accepting timezone change

Hello, I've set up a quick little test to understand and debug timezones between mySQL and PHP. Here's the page: http://dev.feedingo.com/test_dates.php The dates are being created in mySQL using NOW() in a datetime field. The initial problem I was trying to figure out is what timezone mySQL is using and how to sync it up with PHP. But now there's an even weirder issue. In my test app, if you change your timezone, the first strtotime updates properly, but if you pass it into a date() function it doesn't change. This is how im setting the timezone based off the select box. $current_timezone = 'America/New_York'; if( isset( $_GET['timezone'] ) ) $current_timezone = $_GET['timezone']; date_default_timezone_set($current_timezone); Any ideas as to why the date() function isn't accepting the timezone changes? I've used WordPress for a few of my client's sites, mostly small businesses and eCommerce sites. I have found through Google Analytics as well as the All in One Webmaster plugin that when it comes to social media, using WordPress is a surefire way of getting your site indexed by Google and occasionally Bing and Yahoo. Since I am a heavy WP user, I'd like to contribute by registering a dot WordPress domain for my portfolio. When using a WP installation concurrently with a WP domain, e.g. myportfolio.wordpress.com, will the site be more or less likely to be indexed rather a generic myportfolio.com domain? I've seen mixed opinions where people seem to favor a WP domain for URL output where others say that it's a moot point, and that Google will not favor a WP domain over a dot com domain as long as your meta tags are updated and content is keyword optimized. I tend to disagree and believe a WP domain would more likely be indexed and output more URLs over an individual, laconic domain like myportfolio.com. Am I wrong?

Hi there, I'm struggling a bit with this regular expression and wondered if anyone was about to help me please? What I need to do is isolate the 1st phrase inside a string which is NOT inside an HTML tag. So the examples I have at the moment are: This is some test text about ITS for the ITS department. Also worth mentioning ABS as well I guess.ITS, ... and ... This is some ITS test text about ITS for the ITS department. Also worth mentioning ABS as well I guess So in the first example I want it to ignore the wrapped ITS and give me the ITS at the end of the 1st sentence. In the second example I want it to return the ITS at the start of the 2nd sentence. The aim is to replace these with my own custom wrapped acronym tags in a ColdFusion application I'm writing. Dimming the backlight is irreversible on a Samsung Q210 notebook, what do I do?

I'm new to the community, although I have been using Ubuntu since 2010. I have a Samsung Q210 notebook; Specs: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz × 2 4 Gigs RAM Nvidia 9200m GS (although system information in Ubuntu doesn't know) 194 GB HD OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Kernel is 3.0.0-12-generic-pae Although Samsung seems to be infamous for problems with Ubuntu, after upgrading to Oneiric, finally the FN Brightness Buttons are recognized. The only problem is, after dimming the backlight for a fixed amount of steps (3 or 4, I dare not count now because that would mean rebooting because I can't see anything), the display goes completely dark and using the FN buttons to brighten the backlight does not work anymore (before reaching that threshold, going brighter after dimming works). Now what do I do? File a bug report? If not, what then? If yes, how? Not sure... guess I should ask here first.. thanks for answering in advance.

How to read line by line a CR-only file with Perl?

Hi, I'm trying to read a file which has only CR as line delimiter. I'm using Mac OS X and Perl v.5.8.8. This script should run on every platform, for every kind of line delimiter (CR, LF, CRLF). My current code is the following : open(FILE, "test.txt"); while($record = <FILE>){ print $record; } close(TEST); This currently print only the last line (or worst). What is going on? Obvisously, I would like to not convert the file. Is it possible?
