• Scheme homework help

  Okay so I have started a new language in class. We are learning Scheme and i'm not sure on how to do it. When I say learning a new language, I mean thrown a homework and told to figure it out. A couple of them have got me stumped. My first problem is: Write a Scheme function that returns true (the Boolean constant #t) ifthe parameter is a list containing n a's followed by n b's. and false otherwise. • Managing database connections in an Android Activity

  I have an application with a ListActivity that uses a CursorAdapter as its adapter. The ListActivity opens the database and does the querying for the CursorAdapter, which is all well and good, but I am having issues with figuring out when to close both the Cursor and the SQLiteDatabase. The way things are handled right now, if the user finishes the activity, I close the database and the cursor. However, this still ends up with the DalvikVM warning me that I've left a database open - for example, if the user hits the "home" button (leaving the activity in the task's stack), rather than the "back" button. If I close them during pause and then re-query during resume, then I don't get any errors, but then a user cannot return to the list without it requerying (and thus losing the user's place in the list). By this I mean, the user can click on any item in the list and open a new activity based on it, but will often want to hit "back" afterwards and return to the same place on the list. If I requery, then I cannot return the user back to the correct spot. What is the proper way to handle this issue? I want the list to remain scrolled properly, but I don't want the VM to keep complaining about unclosed databases.   Hi all, I'm using jqTransform to make my forms look a bit prettier, however I'm using jquery to change the select list (depending on what's selected from another select list) and it just pulls in the regular form select list rather than the jqTransform styles.. I was wondering if there's a way of reinitializing it? I've tried adding: jQuery('#bookingForm').jqTransform({ imgPath: '/templates/home/images/jqtransform/' }); after the jquery inserts the new select box, but it doesnt seem to work.. I'm trying to do this because I couldnt figure out how to show/hide options in a select list using jquery.

• Microsoft SyncFramework - Sync different tables into one

  Hello, we are trying to get the Microsoft SyncFramework running in our application to synchronize an oracle db with a mobile device. Problem The queries that we need to gather the data on the oracle db take much time (and we haven't found a way to speed them up yet), so we try to split them up in as much portions as possible. One big part of the whole problem is, that we need different information out of one big table, that bloats a query if combined. Unfortunately, the SyncFramework allows only one TableAdapter per SyncTable. Now this is a problem for our application: If we were able to use more than one TableAdapter per SyncTable, we could easily spread the queries in a more efficient way. Using one query per Table which combines all the needed data takes way too much time. Ideas I thought of creating different TableAdapters for each one of the required queries and then merge the resulting datasets afterwards (preferably on the server). This seems to work, but is a rather awkward solution. Does someone of you know a better solution? Or do you have some ideas that could help? I was looking through the style guide, http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0008/, which "strongly recommends" using a 4-spaces indentation style for new projects. But I just hate this idea! In my opinion, tabs are better for this purpose. What annoyances could crop up one day if another developer wanted to work on my tab-delimited files?

  Hello, I'm trying to figure out if it is possible to launch an intent within an ExpandableListView. Basically one of the "Groups" is Phone Number and it's child is the number.   I am trying to understand the best way of implementing a DropDownList in ASP.NET MVC 2 using the DropDownListFor helper. This is a multi-part question. First, what is the best way to pass the list data to the view? Pass the list in your model with a SelectList property that contains the data Pass the list in via ViewData How do I get a blank value in the DropDownList? Should I build it into the SelectList when I am creating it or is there some other means to tell the helper to auto create an empty value? Lastly, if for some reason there is a server side error and I need to redisplay the screen with the DropDownList, do I need to fetch the list values again to pass into the view model? This data is not maintained between posts (at least not when I pass it via my view model) so I was going to just fetch it again (it's cached). Am I going about this correctly?

However, I'd like to be able to get a list of these files first and then iterate over the list with "get" to download the files.   Repository pattern - Switch out the database and switch in XML files. Hello I have an asp.net MVC 2.0 project and I have followed the Repository pattern. Periodically, I am losing access to the database server so I want to have another mechanism in place (XML files) to continue developing. It is not possible to have a local version of the db unfortunately! I thought this would be relatively easy using the Repository pattern, to switch out the db repositories and switch in XML versions. However, I am having real trouble coming up with a solution. I have tried LinqToXML but then ran into problems trying to return a List of News items as the LinqToXML ToList returns Generic.List Should I be mapping the XElement list over to the News list by hand? It just seems a bit clunky compared to LinqToSQL attributes on the News class and then simply doing a Table.....ToList(); Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks

  I have the following code: var table = $('.photogalleryTable').before('<ul class="photogallery"></ul>') table.find('td a').wrap('<li>').parent().appendTo('ul.photogallery'); table.remove(); This code finds a table with a list of photos and re-codes it to use a unordered list instead. The script works perfectly except for one issue. If there are 2 galleries on a page, the script will grab all of the images and reformat them into one list. Because the CMS I'm using tags each gallery table with .photogalleryTable, I'm not sure how to keep the script from touching the other galleries. What I would like to have happen is have the script re-format the first instance and then move on to the next instance, keeping the list of photos separate Is that possible?
