  It's easy to find duplicates with one field SELECT name, COUNT(email) FROM users GROUP BY email HAVING ( COUNT(email) > 1 ) So if we have a table ID NAME EMAIL 1 John [email protected] 2 Sam [email protected] 3 Tom [email protected] 4 Bob [email protected] 5 Tom [email protected] This query will give us John, Sam, Tom, Tom because they all have the same e-mails. But what I want, is to get duplicates with the same e-mails and names. I want to get Tom, Tom. I made a mistake, and allowed to insert duplicate name and e-mail values. Now I need to remove/change the duplicates. But I need to find them first.

• How can I make a DateTimePicker display an empty string?

  I would like to be able to display a DateTimePicker that has a default value of nothing, i.e. no date. For example, I have a start date dtTaskStart and an end date dtTaskEnd for a task, but the end date is not known, and not populated initially. I have specified a custom format of yyyy-MM-dd for both controls. Setting the value to null, or an empty string at runtime causes an error, so how can I accomplish this? I have considered using a checkbox to control the enabling of this field, but there is still the issue of displaying an initial value.. Edit: Arguably a duplicate of the question DateTimePicker Null Value (.NET), but the solution I found for my problem is not a solution for that question, so I think it should remain here for others to find..

However, new requirement has emerged which says that there is a need in providing an alternative interface for a certain group of website users who want to regularly receive pushed notifications(messages) that would inform them about new events(news) in their field of interest. What sort of interface would it be?Is it all about using a MOM(message-oriented middleware) like JMS and deploying it withing an application server on a website using publish/subscribe model?Is it the correct way how to meet these sort of requirements?And if it's not a web-based interface,would kind of interface would it be then for the users? • "SELECT TOP", "LEFT OUTER JOIN", "ORDER BY" gives extra rows

  I have the following Access query I'm running through OLE DB in .NET: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblRegion.Region There are 431 records within tblClient that have RegionCode set to NULL. For some reason, the query above returns all these 431 records instead of the first 25. If I change the query to ORDER BY tblClient.Client (the name of the client) like so: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblClient.Client I get the expected result set of 25 records, showing a mixture of region names and NULL values. Why is it that ordering by a field retrieved through a LEFT OUTER JOIN will the TOP clause not work?

• Ms Access Save record in subform

  I have a main form with a tab control containing multiple subforms. I need to be sure that the data in a subform is saved when the user switches tabs. The problem is that DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord seems only applies to the current form so it doesn't save the data in the subform. I have tried different events on the subform such as deactivate, OnLostFocus etc but they don't fire until another field somewhere else gets the focus. The ideal solution would seem to be to put something on the OnChange event of the tab control to be sure that all the data is saved. That is my question, how to do I save the record in a subform?

• Creating a USB stick for installing centos 6.x using DVD1 and DVD2 iso files

  First, we create 2 partitions on the USB stick that is let's say 16GB. first partition is let's say only 1GB and the second partition is the rest of what is available. after we "w" write the changes, the USB now has 2 partitions. 1 is 1GB 1 is more than 14GB so , we have... sdb1 and sdb2 now. now we need to turn these partitions into filesystems some say i should run these commands after those procedures. mkfs.vfat -F 32 /dev/sdb1 mkfs.ext3 /dev/sdb2 but some web pages recommend using: mkfs.vfat -n BOOT /dev/sdb1 mkfs.ext2 -m 0 -b 4096 -L DATA /dev/sdb2 which is it? so let's say the DVDs are called: CentOS-6.4-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso CentOS-6.4-x86_64-bin-DVD2.iso so we make a directory: mkdir -p /mnt/dvd1 and then mount it: mount -o loop CentOS-6.4-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso /mnt/dvd1 and i suppose we don't make a directory for dvd2 and we don't have to mount it ? at this point i do not know what should be done. but i think this step might be next: we make the USB bootable by finding the file named mbr.bin and then moving it to there via these commnad. dd conv=notrunc bs=440 count=1 if=/usr/lib/syslinux/mbr.bin of=/dev/sdb parted /dev/sdb set 1 boot on in other words we are "dd-ing it to 'sdb' not sdb1' or 'sdb2'. and then we use parted to set the boot to on for sdb so far everything looks good? here is the confusing parts.. how exactly do i move these iso files to the usb drive? EVERYTHING BELOW IS A GUESS. so at this point i should copy the folder /mnt/dvd1/isolinux to usb's sdb1 or sdb2 ? rename it to syslinux ? and then inside this syslinux folder there will be a file called... isolinux.cfg ? which should be renamed to syslinux.cfg ? and then copy the contents of /mnt/dvd1/images/* to USB's sdb2 ? but i think i am also suppose to copy and paste the both CentOS-6.4-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso CentOS-6.4-x86_64-bin-DVD2.iso somewhere into this USB's sdb2 partition, correct ? almost like a drag and drop kind of a thing? or do they go into any folders ? centos' own web site has some instructions but those instructions do not work. http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey i once got this working but things got ruined, i have to do it again and this time take notes.

But Problem i am facing is: New Document library are not visible in site. I tried with comparing Field Value of Both Visible and No-Visible Document library. Difference i found is : Visible Library (Created Manually) doesn't contain Version value. were as it it present in library which are created by this code. Can you help me out in this?

• Upload documents using email and mapping properties of documents

  Hi, We have a requirement to upload documents to a specific SharePoint document library when a document is sent via email to a specific email address. I think SharePoint has this feature available. What I would like to know more importantly is mapping the information in the body of the email to the custom properties of the document. For example, if a custom field (property) is added to the document in SharePoint say - "Year". I provide the value of this property within the body of the email and attach the document in email. Is it possible that the provided value in the body of the email for the property is updated in SharePoint when the document is uploaded to SharePoint through email? We are using SharePoint 2007.   Hi Everyone, I have a working Rails application on version 2.3.5 - I am using many to many model relations and have got almost everything working. What I would like to do is on my new kase page show the most recent kase job ref at the top. So for example, if I created a new kase with a job ref of "001", if I then went to create a new kase it would show at the top "Your previous kases reference was 001". I have the field of jobref in the new kase form, so I am trying to workout what I need to do to output only the last jobref. If that makes sense! Thanks, Danny

• javascript textbox call event when value changes

  I have a textbox, and whenever the value of the box changes, I want to check and see if 20 digits have been entered. I thought that I would use the onChange event, but this seems to be interpreted as the onBlur event on IE. So then I thought I would use onKeyDown, but the problem comes in if the user wants to paste a value into the field, then the function never gets called. There are no other form boxes so I can't rely on onBlur or expect that they will change focus ever. How do I do this? I just want to evaluate the value of the textbox everytime the value of the textbox changes. <input type="text" onKeyDown="myfunction()">

  I was wondering whether anybody out there is actively using Rhapsody TestConductor? Or has tried it for a while, but then decided to turn it down for a particular reason? If so, what are your experiences, in which field do you apply it, what are the shortcomings, or why did you turn it down? At the moment we're considering TestConductor as our tool of choice for testing as it's already integrated into Rhapsody, and would like to find out how applicable it is to our project (btw, we're using Rhapsody 7.4 in C). P.S: Recommendations on good books about Model Based Testing are also appreciated.

• What's the best way to normalize scores for ranking things?

  hi all, I'm curious how to do normalizing of numbers for a ranking algorithm let's say I want to rank a link based on importance and I have two columns to work with so a table would look like url | comments | views now I want to rank comments higher than views so I would first think to do comments*3 or something to weight it, however if there is a large view number like 40,000 and only 4 comments then the comments weight gets dropped out. So I'm thinking I have to normalize those scores down to a more equal playing field before I can weight them. Any ideas or pointers to how that's usually done? thanks

• Rails: Polymorphic User Table a good idea with AuthLogic?

  Hi everyone, I have a system where I need to login three user types: customers, companies, and vendors from one login form on the home page. I have created one User table that works according to AuthLogic's example app at http://github.com/binarylogic/authlogic_example. I have added a field called "User Type" that currently contains either 'Customer', 'Company', or 'Vendor'. Note: each user type contains many disparate fields so I'm not sure if Single Table Inheritance is the best way to go (would welcome corrections if this conclusion is invalid). Is this a polymorphic association where each of the three types is 'tagged' with a User record? How should my models look so I have the right relationships between my User table and my user types Customer, Company, Vendor? Thanks very much!

• PHP detmine numbers in between two numbers then query

  This should be simple but I can't figure it out <?php $testid = 240; $curid = 251; $cal = $curid - $testid; echo $cal; ?> I want to determine the numbers in between two other numbers so for this example it detects there are 11 numbers in between the $testid and $curid, but i dont need it to do that. I need it to literally figure the numbers in between $curid - $testid which in this example would be 241, 242, 243... all the way to 251 then i need to create a loop with those numbers and do a query below with each one $cal = $curid - $testid; mysql_query("SELECT * FROM wall WHERE id='".$cal."'") // and for each number mysql should out put each data field with those numbers.   Whenever a user would type a number, my app would automatically prepend a currency sign before that number. For example, when the user types "1" in a text field, the text inside it becomes "$1.00". • Ampersand in GET, PHP

  I have a simple form that generates a new photo gallery, sending the title and a description to MySQL and redirecting the user to a page where they can upload photos. Everything worked fine until the ampersand entered the equation. The information is sent from a jQuery modal dialog to a PHP page which then submits the entry to the database. After Ajax completes successfully, the user is sent to the upload page with a GET URL to tell the page what album it is uploading to -- $.ajax ({ type: "POST", url: "../../includes/forms/add_gallery.php", data: $("#addGallery form").serialize(), success: function() { $("#addGallery").dialog('close'); window.location.href = 'display_album.php?album=' + title; } }); If the title has an ampersand, the Title field on the upload page does not display properly.   Hello im a newbie at using Drupal, and have come across a block in my progress. I have been using CCK to add new content types to my forms. I was wondering if there was any way to add to the form that is generated so that i may contain the elements and also insert visual html code like head rules etc. I have dabbled with the hook_form_alter() and it does not seem to help me in my efforts. Ive been through adjusting tpl.php files and such and have made no progress. Please if there is any one there in the inter-webs who is knowledgeable on this matter your advice would be greatly appreciated. Here is just an example of what I would want to do within the form: 1.   Django currently does not support the "Point" datatype in MySQL. That's why I created my own. class PointField(models.Field): def db_type(self): return 'Point' class Tag(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) utm = PointField() As you can see, this works, and syncdb creates the model fine. However, my current code calculates a length between two Points using raw SQL. cursor.execute("SELECT user_id FROM life_tag WHERE\ (GLength(LineStringFromWKB(LineString(asbinary(utm), asbinary(PointFromWKB(point(%s, %s)))))) < 55)... This says: Select where the length between the given point and the table point is less than 55. How can I do this with Django instead of RAW SQL? I don't want to do cursors and SELECT statements anymore. How can I modify the models.py in order to do this?

  I have defined an Event class: Event and all the following classes inherit from Event: AEvent BEvent CEvent DEvent Now, with the info I gather from all these Event classes, I will make a chart. With AEvent and BEvent, I will generate points for that chart, while with CEvent and DEvent I will paint certain regions of the chart. Now, how should I signal this in my class hierarchy? Should I make AEvent and BEvent inherit from PointEvent while CEvent and DEvent inherit from RegionEvent, being that both RegionEvent and PointEvent inherit from Event? Should I add a field with an Enum to Event with 2 values, Point and Region, and each of the child classes set their value to it? Should I use some kind of pattern here? Which one? Thanks.

• Tables with no Primary Key

  I have several tables whose only unique data is a uniqueidentifier (a Guid) column. Because guids are non-sequential (and they're client-side generated so I can't use newsequentialid()), I have made a non-primary, non-clustered index on this ID field rather than giving the tables a clustered primary key. I'm wondering what the performance implications are for this approach. I've seen some people suggest that tables should have an auto-incrementing ("identity") int as a clustered primary key even if it doesn't have any meaning, as it means that the database engine itself can use that value to quickly look up a row instead of having to use a bookmark. My database is merge-replicated across a bunch of servers, so I've shied away from identity int columns as they're a bit hairy to get right in replication. What are your thoughts? Should tables have primary keys? Or is it ok to not have any clustered indexes if there are no sensible columns to index that way?

  Hello everyone, I have a question about ruby on rails and the process of assigning variables using the params variable passed through a form class User attr_accessible :available_to_admins, :name end Let's say that I have a field that is only available to my admins. Assuming that you are not an admin, I am going to not display the available_to_admins input in your form. After that, when I want to save your data I'll just do a: User.update_attributes(params[:user]) If you are an admin, then no problem, the params[:user] is going to contain name and available_tu_admins and if you're not then only your name. Since the available_to_admins is an attr_accessible parameter, how should I prevent non admin users from being able to inject a variable containing the available_to_admins input with their new value?
