  • How do you clean Core Data generated models and code from a project?

    I'm having an extremely annoying problem with Core Data in the iPhone SDK. I would say in general Core Data for the most part appears easy to use and nice to implement. I have a sqlite database that is being used as a read only reference to pull data elements out for an iPhone app. It would seem there are really mysterious issues relating to what seems to be migration of the database to the most recent versions of my schema. Why can't you just clean out your stored objects and models and let a project redo all of it when you compile next? You would think if you setup a stored object model there would be a way to just reset it and recompile. I've tried what feels like a thousand 'tips' that have been the results of hours of google searches and documentation prowling to figure out how to do this.   • Incompatibility between x86 and x64 in Installation solution

    Hello, I have installation solution that have installer project (not web installer but simple installer) that installs NT services, web service and web sites with help of additional two projects of dlls with my own code that performs my installation step. In user actions of installer project I call installer function of one of those projects, and this project calls to installer of second project: installer - MiddleCaller - InstallationCore. All this developing on Windows 7 and work fine when I compile all in 32 bit. The project must run on Windows 2008. Because of some reasons all must be in x64 bit. For this purpose, in MiddleCaller and InstallationCore I click right button of mouse on project - build - targer x64. For to move installer project to 64 bit in properties of installer (when project is active) I check: Target platform: x64. When I run installation on x86 I get error: The installation package is not supported by this processor type" And this is good, because now I know that my installation compiled in 64 bit, but when I run this on windows 2008 I get: Error 1001. Exception occured while initializing the instance: System.BadImageFormatException: could not load file or Assembly 'MiddleCaller, v...' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. Any one has some idea what I need to do for run fine the installation on x64? May be I still not moved the installer project to x64 bit, if yes, where I do this? Thank you for ahead.

    I finally got Silverlight 4 Toolkit installed , referenced and working after the difficulty of finding the right namespace described in this question. But intellisense doesn't work fully: after I type "tk:", it doesn't pop up the various controls I have available, but if I type a control name out, e.g. DockPanel, then it works, as shown below.     My application is been live from 6 months. The application is host on jboss 7.1 server. From last few days I am finding numerous problem of hanging of jboss server. Though I restart the jboss server again, it does not invoke. I need to restart the server machine itself.     I created an Android project using Eclipse (under Windows FWIW) and let Eclipse create the keypair during the Export Android Application process. I successfully used Eclipse to make a signed release build that is now on the Market. Now I want to now use ProGuard, which I believe means using Ant instead of Eclipse to build. It was a pain, but Ant building works in both debug and release, until it tries to sign the APK. I get: [signjar] jarsigner: Certificate chain not found for: redacted. redacted must reference a valid KeyStore key entry containing a private key and corresponding public key certificate chain. keytool -list -keystore redacted gives me: Keystore type: JKS Keystore provider: SUN Your keystore contains 1 entry redacted, Jan 16, 2011, PrivateKeyEntry, Certificate fingerprint (MD5): BD:0F:70:C1:39:F5:FE:5B:BC:CD:89:0B:C8:66:95:E0 Which brings me to the actual question: where is my public key? I have some sort of public key on my Android Market profile, but is that the pair for my private key? If so, how do I store that in the keystore so that jarsigner will work?

    I finally got Silverlight 4 Toolkit installed , referenced and working after the difficulty of finding the right namespace described in this question. But intellisense doesn't work fully: after I type "tk:", it doesn't pop up the various controls I have available, but if I type a control name out, e.g. DockPanel, then it works, as shown below. It will even give me intellisense after I type tk:DropPanel, which is odd. How can I get intellisense to work in all cases for the Silverlight 4 Toolkit? I can imagine I need another namespace, but this site says that this reference: is now all you need (and will be automatically used by both Visual Studio and Blend)

    I'm getting strange error message from the following code: ArrayType * arrayType = ArrayType::get(Type::getInt32Ty(ctx), 0); stack = builder->CreateAlloca(arrayType, ConstantArray::get(arrayType, std::vector<Constant *>())); This code compiles fine but it gives me llvm::Value* getAISize(llvm::LLVMContext&, llvm::Value*): Assertion `Amt-getType() == Type::getInt32Ty(Context) && "Malloc/Allocation array size is not a 32-bit integer!"' failed. during execution. What's interesting, is that I never said of what type array size should be, it was created somewhere inside helper functions. So I naturally see no good reason for assert to be there. But I must be doing something wrong anyway, can you help me spot the problem? Thanks in advance. PS. LLVM, as good as it is, lacking documentation tremendously.

  • How does a java web project architecture look like without EJB3 ?

    A friend and I are building a fairly complex website based on java. (PHP would have been more obvious but we chose for java because the educational aspect of this project is important to us) We have already decided to use JSF (with richfaces) for the front end and JPA for the backend and so far we have decided not to use EJB3 for the business layer. The reason we've decided not to use EJB3 is because - and please correct me if I am wrong - if we use EJB3 we can only run it on a full blown java application server like jboss and if we don't use EJB3 we can still run it on a lightweight server like tomcat. We want to keep speed and cost of our future web server in mind. So far i've worked on two JEE projects and both used the full stack with web business logic factories/persistence service entities with every layer a seperate module. Now here is my question, if you dont use EJB3 in the business logic layer. What does the layer look like? Please tell what is common practice when developing java web projects without ejb3? Do you think business logic layer can be thrown out altogether and have business logic in the backing beans? If you keep the layer, do you have all business methods static? Or do you initialize each business class as needed in the backing beans in every session as needed?

I have created a framework that handles applications as state machines. Currently all the state business logic and transactions are handled via Java code. I was looking for some UI implementation that would allow the user to draw the state machines and transactions and generate a file that can later on be consumed by my framework to "run" the workflow according to one or more defined state machines. Ideally I would like to use an open standard like SCXML. The goal as the UI would be to have something like this plugin IBM have for Rational Software Architect: Do you know any editor, plugin or library that would have something similar or at least serve as a good starting point?

    Hi, I am working on a java based application and we are looking to ease our deployment of updates. Up until now, we've always simply sent out new install packs & had the sysadmin's on our customer sites roll out the upgrades - painful for a large number of users. what I'd like to do is something similar to java webstart (or eclipse p2) - when the application starts, it checks for updates in a specified location and then downloads the updates prior to starting. But here's my problem - I want more control over what's done outside of the scope of plugins & jar files. For example: I'd like to be able to upate my JVM (we ship a modified version with additional security features). I need to install DLL's - possibly local to the jar files, sometimes to windows Occasiontally run MSI's to install windows components (e.g. printer drivers). I need to modify config files & the registry. I have found a few applications that support this (such as AppLifeUpdate at http://www.kineticjump.com/) but they tend to be .NET focused and it seems a bit perverse to introduce a .NET dependancy on a java application ;) I know I could write my own here, but if there is already a 3rd party library out there that supports this kind of facility, then it would make my life a lot easier. So, has anyone else had a similar problem & knows of some products I could look at? Thanks, Brian.

  • What *collaborative* wireframing / UI mockup tools are out there?

    I'm looking for something that applies the collaboration focus (one location/URL, always up-to-date, multi-person online read/write access anywhere) of google docs / google spreadsheets to wireframing. Bonus points if, like Google Docs, it needs only a browser yet also works offline. More bonus points if it supports automatic revisions. Even more bonus points if you can hand out login-less 'invitation' URLs like Flickr does, instead of forcing people into signing up for accounts or using their home accounts. To start off, there's one called iPlotz, but it didn't enchant me -- ironically, mostly because of its akward UI, which can't hold a candle to omnigraffle (don't let that prevent you from giving it a try though). And no, paper prototyping, wonderful as it is, does not qualify: it does not combine being instantly globally shareable & editable very well :-)
