  • php download file slows

    OK first off thanks for your time I wish I could give more than one point for this question. Problem: I have some music files on my site (.mp3) and I am using a php file to increment a database to count the number of downloads and to point to the file to download. For some reason this method starts at 350kb/s then slowly drops to 5kb/s which then the file says it will take 11hrs to complete. BUT if I go directly to the .mp3 file my browser brings up a player and then I can right click and "save as" which works fine complete download in 3mins. (Yes both during the same time for those that are thinking it's my connection or ISP and its not my server either.) So the only thing that I've been playing around with recently is the php.ini and the .htcaccess files. For some classes, I can find a corresponding implementation by guessing its name, e.g. com.google.gwt.core.client.impl.StringBuilderImpl. But where's the implementation for java.util.Date for example? Where do I find it, and how does GWT find it (via some configuration file?)

    The regular expression class (rxregexp.dll) that comes with ooRexx (I'm on 4.0.0) is relatively low on function compared, say, with Python's re module (even at 2.5.2). It appears to have no assertions, no facilities for group extraction, or for substitution. Greedy or lazy matching is a global pattern option, rather than flagged by an additional "?". Basically, a pre-PCRE regular expression engine. Does anyone know if anything with more up-to-date function is available?

  • How Do you Declare a Dependancy Property in VB.Net 3.0

    My company is stuck on .Net 3.0. The task I am trying to tackle is simple, I need to bind the IsChecked property of the CheckBoxResolvesCEDAR to the CompletesCEDARWork in my Audio class. The more I read about this it appears that I have to declare CompletesCEDARWork as dependancy propert, but I can not find a good example of how this is done. I found this example, but when I pasted into my code I get an "is not defined" error for GetValue and I have not successfully figure out what MyCode is supposed to represent. Any help/examples would be greatly appreciated. What resources would you suggest for getting up-to-date on the current state of java technologies? How about learning how to approach DRY (don't repeat yourself) without the use of metaprogramming? Or how to approach various scenarios where a ruby developer is used to passing in a function (proc/lambda/block) as an argument (callbacks, etc)?

  • dropping user to IRB after reading from pipe

    I have this script that drops the user to an IRB session when executed. All good, but when I use *nix pipes to get the input (e.g. with cat), the IRB session ends immediately. I could reduce the script (let's call it myscript.rb) to the following: require 'irb' if $stdin.stat.size 0 @text = $stdin.read else @text= "nothing" end ARGV.clear IRB.start When executed like: ruby myscript.rb, I end up in the IRB session (as expected). But (assuming foo.txt exists in the cwd): cat foo.txt | ruby myscript.rb will just print the IRB prompt and then the IRB session is closed (I'm being dropped to $bash). Any known workarounds or ideas? BTW: it has the same behavior on ruby 1.8.7 as well as on 1.9.2.

  • Git doesn't sync files until committed, even if checked out in a different branch

    Okay, I have git 1.7.11.1 on Windows and I have a local test repository with 2 branches. One is master with index.php and help.php. I then create another branch called slave :) I run from git bash rm help.php and it disappears from the folder, but I don't stage anything. I switch to checkout master branch and it is supposed to restore file help.php because it is not modified in the master branch, isn't it? And it does not do it. When I go back to the slave branch and commit and then switch to checkout master then help.php appears. Is that the way it is supposed to to work? Why?

  • Java: file write on finalize method

    In my understanding a singleton object will destroy only when the application is about to terminate. So in C++ I write a Singleton class to log my application and in that Singleton logger's destructor I log the time when my application was terminated. Things worked perfectly in C++. Now I want to have that same logger in Java, as in java there is no destructor so I implemented the finalize method for that singleton logger. But it seem that finalize method actually never get called. So, I add that System.runFinalizersOnExit(true); line, somewhere in my code (though I know it is deprecated) and that finalize method get called every time before termination of the app. But still there is a problem! If I try to write anything on file in that finalize method, It does not work, though System.out work without any problem! :( Can you guys help me on this problem?   • How to validate Windows VC++ DLL on Unix systems

    I have a solution, mostly C#, but with a few VC++ projects, that is pushed through our standard release process (perl and bash scripts on Unix boxes). Currently the initiative is to validate DLL and EXE versions as they pass through the process. All the versioning is set so that File Version is of the format $Id: $ (between the colon and the second dollar should be a git commit hash), and the Product Version is of the format $Hudson Build: $ (between the colon and the second dollar should be a string representing the hudson build details). Currently this system works extremely well for the C# projects because this version information is stored as plain strings within the compiled code (you can literally use the unix strings command and see the version information); the problem is that the VC++ projects do not expose this information as strings (I have used a windows system to verify that the version information is correctly being set), so I'm not sure how to extract the version on a unix system. Any suggestions for either A) Getting a string representation of the version embedded in the compiled code, or B) A utility/script which can extract this information?

  • Better alternative to autonumber primary keys

    I am looking for a better primary key than the autonumber data type, namely for the reason that it's limited to a long integer, when I really just need the field to reflect a number or text string that will never ever repeat, no matter HOW many records are added or deleted from the table. The problem is I am not sure how to implement something like turning the current date and time into a hexadecimal string and using that as a unique field I can use as a primary key. Am I just being too paranoid about running out of space?
