  • Is this an idiomatic way to pass mocks into objects?

    I'm a bit confused about passing in this mock class into an implementation class. It feels wrong to have all this explicitly managed memory flying around. I'd just pass the class by value but that runs into the slicing problem. Am I missing something here?   • When I really need to use [NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:1];

    Hi there, I have a program that needs to use sleep. Like really needs to. In lieu of spending ages explaining why, suffice to say that it needs it. Now I'm told to split off my code into a separate thread if it requires sleep so I don't lose interface responsiveness, so I've started learning how to use NSThread. I've created a brand new program that is conceptual so to solve the issue for this example will help me in my real program. Short story is I have a class, it has instance variables and I need a loop with a sleep to be depended on the value of that instance variable. I see my current options as: Using a class that someone else has written and tested Inheriting from BindingList, and implementing the IBindingListView interfaces Write a custom collection from scratch, implementing IBindingListView and IBindingList.     Why isn't RAISERROR spelled RAISEERROR? Where is the second E? I could understand if it were some ancient keyword length constraint, but I wouldn't expect it to be a nine-character limit. Is RAIS or RROR a technical word such that "raise-error" is just a mis-reading? Are its (immediate) origins in a different language? I've searched Google but not finding much on the subject.

    I have a few repository classes that are meant to talk to different kinds of data, deriving from an IRepository interface laid out like so: In implementations, the code talks to a data source, be this a directory of XML files or a database or even just a cache. Is it possible to reliably unit test any of these implementations? I don't see a mock implementation working, because then I'm only testing the mock code and not the actual code.

  • Can Visual Studio 2010 Test .net 3.5 SP1 Projects?

    I have some projects in a solution that are running on .net 3.5 SP1 (and can never ever be updated to 4.0 as they are SharePoint projects). When I try to create a new Visual C# Test Project in VS2010 Premium, I have to choose .net 4.0 which is apparently intended. Now I don't care about what my Unit Test project is (don't have to care about VS2008 users), but I do care if I can safely test 3.5 Projects in it due to the different CLRs and slight C# language differences?
