  • What's the best way to keep java app data stored redundantly in a file?

    If I have systems that are based on realtime data, how can I ensure that all the information that is current is redundantly stored in a file? So that when the program starts again, it uses this information to initialize itself back to where it was when it closed. I know of xstream and HSQLDB. but wasn't sure if this was the best option for data that needs to be a literal carbon copy.

  • Flex Builder AS3 Project migration

    Hi, I am developing a Flash game using as3, I chose flex Builder with an AS3 project. Now I am thinking that if selecting the project to be a flex project instead of as3 project I would have a lot of flex functionality like a swf loader,preloaders and the popup manager etc. The graphic components would obviously have been made in flash and used through the swc (avoiding the heavy mxml components). Need to know what other developers think of this approach.

  • Request.Browser.Platform not returning iPad, OSX, or Windows7

    I'm working on some advanced browser detection, and I've downloaded the MDBF browser file from CodePlex. Unfortunately my Request.Browser.Platform, along with a few other things is returning "Unknown" on both my iPad Mac OSX (Snow Leopard) and on Windows7 Does anyone know of a good advanced .browser file out there that does the same thing for non mobile devices as the MDBF does for mobile devices?

    The PHP function oci_connect (which connects to an Oracle database) just returns false if it fails, which at the moment I handle like this: $connection = oci_connect($username, $password, $database); if (!$connection){ return $result = "Trouble connecting to the Oracle Database"; } But really I'd like to have the actual ORA error code, so I can be more informative. Is this possible?

  • vb6 ADODB TSQL procedure call quit working after database migration

    This code was once working on sql server 2005. Now isolated in a visual basic 6 sub routine using ADODB to connect to a sql server 2008 database it throws an error saying: "Login failed for user 'admin' " I have since verified the connection string does work if i replace the body of this sub with the alternative code below this sub. When I run the small program with the button, it stops where it is marked below the asterisk line. Any ideas? thanks in advance.   • WPF data templates

    I'm getting started with WPF and trying to get my head around connecting data to the UI. I've managed to connect to a class without any issues, but what I really want to do is connect to a property of the main window.     The answer to another SO question was to use this SQL query: SELECT o.Id, o.attrib1, o.attrib2 FROM table1 o JOIN ( SELECT DISTINCT Id FROM table1, table2, table3 WHERE ... ) T1 ON o.id = T1.Id Now I wonder how I can use this statement together with the keyword FOR UPDATE. If I simply append it to the query, Oracle will tell me: ORA-02014: cannot select FOR UPDATE from view Do I have to modify the query or is there a trick to do this with Oracle? With MySql the statement works fine.
