  • How to retrieve the GUID for Yahoo's Contacts API

    I'm attemping to use the Yahoo Contacts API to add an "invite your friends" feature on a site I'm building. I've found the correct web service to call (http://social.yahooapis.com/v1/user/{guid}/contacts) but it is asking for the user's GUID, not their username/password. I've searched, and am unable to find a "lookup" feature through the Yahoo API which lets me get the user's guid from their username/password. Does anyone have any experience with the Contacts API. I've reaad over the documentation, and looked at YQL as well, but I still haven't found how to get the user's guid. Thanks guys.

    I have a default amazon ec2 instance with 8GB root volume size. I am running out of space. I have: Detach the current EBS volume in AWS Management Console (Web). Create snapshot of this volume. Created a new Volume with 50G space with my snapshot. Attach the new volume back to the instance to /dev/sda1 However, when I reconnect to the account with: > df -h I can see from the management console that my new Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/xvda1 8256952 8173624 0 100% / tmpfs 308508 40 308468 1% /dev/shm It's still not using my new volume's size, how to make this work?

    I have a database on line with Godaddy (who uses SQL Server 2005). They provide basic management tools, but tell you that for more advanced tools you can connect directly using SSMS. I followed their instructions to ensure my online database will accept remote connections, and can apparently log in using SSMS with success (after giving my hostname and access data).     Hello, I'm trying to track the error thrown by SQL Server 2005. The problem is SQL Server reports it in my native language so it's hard for me to google it. I think that the core issue would be avialable in English in SQL Server LOGS. I'm running SQL Server Management Studio Express, going to "Management" node, and then SQL Server Logs. I can see the list of logs but I cannot enter them, the only available option in context menu is Refresh. Could you help me to show the contents of those logs?

  • Killing Mysql prcoesses staying in sleep command.

    Hey I am connecting a MYSQL database through hibernate and i seem to have processes that are not being killed after they are finished in the session. I have called flush and close on each session but when i check the server the last processes are still there with a sleep command. This is a new problem which i am having and was not the case yesterday. Is there any way i can ensure the killng of theses processes when i am done with a session.     We are looking for a web-based document merge solution. Our application is a web-based project management tool built using Xataface - PHP on Windows IIS + mySQL. We have a function that allows the user to generate a status report in Microsoft Word format based on data in the tool. Currently this function is implemented using LiveDocX. We have a status report template, and LiveDocX performs the merge into the template using data from our project management tool. The main drawback is LiveDocx is web-service based. We are looking to replace LiveDocX in order to reduce our dependence on the up-time of a third-party web-service that we cannot control. Does anyone have any suggestions on a web based document merge solution that I can install on my IIS or PHP based server?

    Hi there, I have a script saved in a ps1 file in which I define 2 functions as such: function Invoke-Sql([string]$query) { Invoke-Sqlcmd -ServerInstance $Server -Database $DB -User $User -Password $Password -Query $query } function Get-Queued { Invoke-Sql "Select * From Comment where AwaitsModeration = 1" } In the PowerShell console I then call the ps1 file by typing it in (it's in a folder in the path, and autocompletion works) However, I cannot start using the functions. I am confused, because when I copy / paste the functions into the console, all is fine and they work. I also have a function defined in my profile, and it works. Where am I thinking wrong, why doesn't it work what I'm trying to do?

Both of these values are written to the database. $this->salt = md5(uniqid()); $this->password = md5($password.$salt); Upon logging in, the following function is fired. For some function challengeLogin($submittedPassword, $publicSalt, $storedPassword){ if(md5($submittedPassword.$publicSalt) == $actualPassword){ return 0; }else{ return 1; }; } Unfortunately, on stepping through my code, the two values have never equaled. Can someone help me understand why?

I have a small webapplication called StatsGen I want to include in other projects, and for convenience I'd like to have the settings inside the bin folder, in a config file with an appropriate name, in my case: StatsGen.config. I've tried to exlude the helper and just to get access to the key, like this: NameValueCollection _settings = ConfigurationManager.GetSection("StatsGenSettings") as NameValueCollection; And I get this error: Unable to open configSource file 'StatsGen.config'. (C:\Users\pbo\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\StatsGen\StatsGen\web.config line 21) At line 21 I just have this, as explained above: <StatsGenSettings configSource="StatsGen.config"></StatsGenSettings> So now I'm wondering, what's wrong? Some detailed help would be cool... like: where exactly should I declare the StatsGenSettings element inside the web.config?     We seem to have a lot of clients asking us to change the login screen in this manner: Display a list of all available users (thumbnail picture + name) User selects a username from the list A password prompt appears near the username User enters password then presses enter This sounds remarcably similar to the Windows XP login, which is probably where they got the ideea in the first place. There are only about 4 - 5 different users that can login at any given station, so implementing that list on one screen is feasable. So I was wondering if there are any usability experts with some word on this method of login. As far as I can tell, MS droped this behaviour in Vista/Win7, didn't they?
