  I got this error after installing Meld on a new Karmic installation: ~$ meld No module named pygtk Meld requires pygtk 2.8.0 or higher. I installed the latest version of python-gtk with aptitude but I'm not sure what version is actually installed. My python version is 2.6. This is weird because I have another machine that runs Karmic and Meld without a problem. Any ideas?

  I am trying to run Tally ERP 9 (http://www.tallysolutions.com/), post-installation in wine 1.7. I am getting an "out of memory" error, the moment it starts(at the tally splash screen). I then have no option other than to close it. OS: Xubuntu 12.04.3 Wine: 1.6\1.7.9 How have I installed: Inserted the Tally Installation CD, clicked on the tally installer executable. Installed by following the setup. Configured for multi-user, client configuration. Server is at a specified LAN address running on Windows. Then once installation is done. Clicked on the executable/ran from command line for tally.exe Please guide.

• How to install Juniper VPN on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS?

  Could you please help me ? On my old Ubuntu 13.10 I was able to run Juniper VPN (on Firefox only) using a workaround which requires you to install the missing 32libs and IcedTea (32bits). However, I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 (both 64 bits) and my Juniper VPN does not work anymore because it fails during startup showing the following message: "Please ensure that necessary 32 bit libraries are installed. For more details, refer KB article KB25230" "Setup failed. Please install 32 bit Java and update alternatives links using update-alternatives command. For more details, refer KB article KB25230" For some odd reason, it seems the 14.04 upgrade do not work anymore with the openjdk-7:386 and consequently the Juniper VPN as well. Any ideas ? Thanks

  So I've already checked through my config file and I really can't see an instance where any tag hasn't been properly closed...but I keep getting this configuration error...Would you mind taking a look through the error and the config file below? • Network shares do not mount.

  My network shares were mounting fine yesterday.. suddenly they are not. They were mounting fine for the last two weeks or however long since I added them.   Here is a situation until today morning,every thing has been working perfectly fine with me. From past 6 months many of my domains wer accessible as http://site1.myserver.com http://site2.myserver.com http://site3.myserver.com http://site4.myserver.com All these were Reverse Proxy configurations. I have some applications on each of them. until today morning some people reported me that http://site1.myserver.com/app1 is not working but http://site1.myserver.com is accessible but http://site2.myserver.com is accessible but http://site3.myserver.com is accessible but http://site4.myserver.com not accessible In past 6 months I have not changed any of these Apache configurations (things were working perfectly so) The error which can be seen in browser are while accessing http://site1.myserver.com/app1 Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET /app1. • How to ask memcached auth connection by sasl and pam?

  I use memcached in a untrust network, so I try to use sasl and pam to auth connection to memcached. I installed sasl and pam module, compiled and installed memcached with sasl enabled. Also I created db and table for pam user. I run: $ sudo testsaslauthd -u tester -p abc123 -s /etc/pam.d/memcached 0: OK "Success." where the tester and abc123 is the authed user in db, which I inserted. But my python script cannot be authed, always authentication failed returned. It seems it dose not use pam to authentication, still use sasldb, because when I add user by: $ sudo saslpasswd2 -a memcached -c tester and input password: abc123, It can passed. • How do I stop and repair a RAID 5 array that has failed and has I/O pending?

  The short version: I have a failed RAID 5 array which has a bunch of processes hung waiting on I/O operations on it; how can I recover from this? The long version: Yesterday I noticed Samba access was being very sporadic; accessing the server's shares from Windows would randomly lock up explorer completely after clicking on one or two directories. I assumed it was Windows being a pain and left it. Today the problem is the same, so I did a little digging; the first thing I noticed was that running ps aux | grep smbd gives a lot of lines like this: ben 969 0.0 0.2 96088 4128 ? There are a lot of processes stuck in the "D" state. Running ps aux | grep " D" shows up some other processes including my nightly backup script, all of which need to access the volume mounted on my RAID array at some point. I cannot hot-swap a replacement drive in, and don't want to leave the array running in a degraded state. I believe I am supposed to unmount the filesystem before stopping the array, but that is failing, and that is where I'm stuck now: ben@jack:~$ sudo umount /storage umount: /storage: device is busy. (In some cases useful info about processes that use the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1)) It is indeed busy; there are some 30 or 40 processes waiting on I/O. What should I do? Should I kill all these processes and try again? Is that a wise move when they are 'uninterruptable'? What would happen if I tried to reboot? Please let me know what you think I should do. And please ask if you need any extra information to diagnose the problem or to help!

  A client of mine decided to go ahead and move from a self-signed certificate to a commercial one ("GoDaddy Standard SSL"). The first service I wanted to move to the commercial SSL cert was Webmin/Usermin... • Capistrano asks for SSH password when deploying from local machine to server

  When I try to ssh to a server, I'm able to do it as my id_rsa.pub key is added to the authorized keys in the server. Now when I try to deploy my code via Capistrano to the server from my local project folder, the server asks for a password. • Unable to connect to Postgres on Vagrant Box - Connection refused

  First off, I'm new to Vagrant and Postgres. I created my Vagrant instance using http://files.vagrantup.com/lucid32.box with out any trouble. I am able to run vagrant up and vagrant ssh with out issue. I followed the instructions http://blog.crowdint.com/2011/08/11/postgresql-in-vagrant.html with one minor alteration. I installed "postgresql-8.4-postgis" package instead of "postgresql postgresql-contrib" I started the server using: postgres@lucid32:/home/vagrant$ /etc/init.d/postgresql-8.4 start While connected to the vagrant instance I can use psql to connect to the instance with out issue. In my Vagrantfile I had already added: config.vm.forward_port 5432, 5432 but when I try to run psql from localhost I get: psql: could not connect to server: Connection refused Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? I'm sure I am missing something simple. Any ideas? Update: I found a reference to an issue like this and the article suggested using: psql -U postgres -h localhost with that I get: psql: server closed the connection unexpectedly This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request.

• Load Average runaway

  Is there any way to chase down lockups and runaway load averages? Every so often (pretty randomly) I'll get my load average spike up over 5 usually to around 10-15 and sometimes as high as 75 (dual core machine), and cause my system to lock for an indeterminate amount of time. The only thing I can possibly chase it to is using nVidia fakeraid (RAID-1) with JFS on top of that for my /home partition. Also I noticed that when my load averages spike, the power management system doesn't step up my processor speed from 1.6 to its maximum 2.13Ghz clock speed (not sure if this makes a huge difference with this problem). Any ideas?

• Launchpad autobuild fails when trying to access Maven component

  I'm trying to build thrift as a package for the first time on Launchpad and it is failing. It appears that it is failing access repo2.maven.org for some reason. It may be that there is some access restriction but I'm not sure. I will note that the package successfully built locally. Link to build log. Search for the string "repo2.maven.org" and you will see that there is a java.net.UnknownHostException. The repo packages are here. PS. These packages are an update to the thrift package as packaged by the txAMQP team using v0.2.0 of thrift.

• Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' + Postfix

  I just installed Postfix and configured it to use MySQL. It wasn't sending any emails out after I did that so I checked /var/log/mail.log and it came back with this: postfix/trivial-rewrite[5283]: fatal: proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql-domains.cf(0,lock|fold_fix): table lookup problem postfix/cleanup[5258]: warning: AFCDC30437: virtual_alias_maps map lookup problem for [email protected] postfix/master[4761]: warning: process /usr/lib/postfix/trivial-rewrite pid 5282 exit status 1 postfix/proxymap[4126]: warning: connect to mysql server 127.0.0.1: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (110) In mysql-domains.cf I'm using: Hosts 127.0.0.1 I can connect to MySQL with this: mysql -u postfixuser -p But I can't connect this way: mysql -u postfixuser -h 127.0.0.1 -p maildbname Also when I run netstat -l it comes back with: tcp 0 0 localhost:mysql *:* LISTEN I've tried changing my hosts to: Hosts localhost But then I just get a socket error: postfix/cleanup[4870]: warning: connect to mysql server localhost: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' I also have this set up in the MySQL config file: bind-address = 127.0.0.1 I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I am pretty new to all this. • How can I make check_nrpe wait for my remote script to finish executing?

  I have a python script that's being used as a plugin for NRPE. This script checks to see if a process if running on a virtual machine by doing an SSH one-liner with a "ps ax | grep process" attached. When executing the script manually, it works as expected and returns a single line of output for NRPE as well as a status based on whether or not the process is running. When I attempt to run the command setup to execute this script (from my Nagios server), I instantly get the output "NRPE: Unable to read output", however when I run the script manually it takes about a second before it returns output. Other commands run just fine, so it would seem like NRPE needs to wait a second or two for output rather than instantly failing, but I've been unable to find any way of accomplishing this; any tips? Thanks PS: The virtual machines are not accessible from anywhere other than the host machine, hence the need for the nrpe plugin to ssh from the host into the VM to check the process.
