  • IE9 setup needs to update java/firefox/chrome?

    I'm upgrading/bootstrapping a desktop with new everything Win7 64bit from Vista 32bit. I see that IE9 is newly released and start the install. IE9 Setup requires and offers to close these programs due to overlapping files used. Firefox Chrome Java(TM) Platform SE binary Java(TM) update scheduler Skype, Trillian, Winamp, etc. How safe is this? I fear getting yet another MS Firefox add-on or toolbar.

    I wonder what main purposes and benefits can one get after he sets up a webserver running on Linux installed on a VM which is hosted by Windows and that this webserver can be used as a local host for windows ? That is, I have java application that is a webserver made on Linux, I set up the virtual machine for the windows client apps to listen to its (Linux)'s local IP address and port e.g 192.168.50.50:11111 When my webserver runs, I can use http://192.168.50.50/ as the windows's localhost address (instead of 127.0.0.1 as I usually do). There was no issue until the config of the load balancer changed from source address persistence to least connections. Now in some applications I receieve this error Server Error in '/' Application. Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed.     I would like to create custom backup sets for Mozy which exclude certain directories. For example, I would like to backup my Itunes folder, but exclude all podcasts. I have created a backup set which searches in /Users/me/Music and used this query kMDItemPath == "*Podcasts*"wc to exclude all matching files. However, nothing matches. Queries which use the kMDItemFSName spotlight attribute work fine, but any query using kMDItemPath doesn't seem to work at all. What am I doing wrong?

    I have grow to prefer x86 based router OS's like Vyatta and pfSense over their competitors Cisco and Juniper (Well, I never really used Juniper, but still.). However, they feel "fake" to me, like "Frankenstein" routers. I think my greatest worry is that I am missing out on something by not using the main contenders. Are there any benchmarks out there that compare the main metrics (throuput, etc.) of x86 router operating systems to their proprietary counterparts?

    Forgive me if the answer is something glaringly obvious but I just can't seem to get access to any OIDs under the HOST branch in SNMP. I've used an SNMP browser to inspect a few of my systems and none of them show a HOST branch under ISO.ORG.DOD.INTERNET.MGMT.MIB-2. Any thoughts as to why? I'm looking to monitor a few computer's hardware resources via SNMP and unfortuantely all such OIDs live under the missing HOST branch, Any thoughts?

  • My internet speed became slow at night

    My internet plan is 512kbps unlimited and I get speed of average 64kbps but at night I used to get speed of 112kbps ..but recently my speed got normal like day time ...as per my view usually at night their is less traffic so I should get good speed like before ... Due to good speed I download and upload at night and my average download+upload per month is 60gb or 70gb... Is it that my ISP people putting restriction on my download and uploads.. I am confused.

  • Hiding mapped drives for all users but letting programs access them

    What I'm looking for (and not sure if it's possible) is that we have 16 mapped network drives that are mapped when any user logs on, what I would like is to cut this down to just one visible drive yet leaving the other ones still usable to certain programs. I would just un-map them, however one of our constantly used programs writes to almost all of the drive letters so they need to be mapped for just that program, however they do not need to be visible to the user. Is this possible?

    While doing a kernel backup of an mtd (Memory Technology Device) from /dev/mtd/mtd3ro of a TI board gives many "BCH decoding failed", Here are system info #cat /proc/mtd dev: size erasesize name mtd0: 00080000 00020000 "X-Loader" mtd1: 00140000 00020000 "U-Boot" mtd2: 000c0000 00020000 "U-Boot Env" mtd3: 00500000 00020000 "Kernel" mtd4: 1f880000 00020000 "File System" here is the method used, dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd3ro of=/data/local/tmp/mtd3.bin doing a cat also returns the same error, and here is the error, BCH decoding failed BCH decoding failed yes, the destination has enough space ;) tell me what do you think?
