Does .Net use Device Dependent or Device Independent Bitmaps?

When loading an image into memory, does .Net use DDB, DIB, or something else entirely? If possible, please cite your sources. I'm wondering because we currently have a classic ASP application that is using a 3rd party component to load images that is occasionally creating a “Not enough storage is available to process this command.” error. The error is very inconsistent but tends to happen on larger images (not always, but often). After resetting IIS, processing the same file again typically works just fine. After much research I have found that DDBs tend to have this problem when processing large images because they work out of video memory. Considering that we are running on a web server with an integrated video card and limited shared memory, this could certainly be our problem. We are in the early stages of converting our app to .Net and am wondering if using .Net for this might be a viable alternative to our current method which is why I am asking the question. Any advice is welcome :) but out of curiosity if nothing else, I am really hoping for an answer to the question; does .Net use DDB or DIB?

When I run it, the simulator says "Sorry, the application [...] has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." The LogCat tells me I have to have a ListView whose id is android.R.id.lista. If I create a random ListView field in the XML file and give it the "lista" id, it still doesn't work. How to I call that ListView from XML to match something in my Java code? In other words, I know I'm wrong, but where and how do I fix it?

How do I toggle CSS with jQuery?

I have the following code: $('#bc' + $.trim($this) + ' span.dashed-circle').css({ 'border' : '5px solid #000'}); That is triggered by a click.function(). I would like that to be a toggle - so when I click the element, it changes the border to what I have above...but when it is clicked again it disappears or rather sets the border to ' '. Thoughts? Edit: I should have been explicit...but I don't want to create a CSS class. The reason being is because when I do that, it messes up the formatting of the element being styled. I am sure that it is some small quirk somewhere that would fix it, but I am not interested in wading through the entire code base to fix little positioning issues with a new class. I would much rather just edit the css attribute directly - because it doesn't interfere with the layout. Edit2: Here is the jsfiddle of the code I am trying to edit. Best method to select an object from another unknown jQuery object

Lets say I have a jQuery object/collection stored in a variable named obj, which should contain a DOM element with an id named target. I don't know in advance if target will be a child in obj, i.e.: obj = $('<div id="parent"><div id="target"></div></div>'); or if obj equals target, i.e.: obj = $('<div id="target"></div>'); or if target is a top-level element inside obj, i.e.: obj = $('<div id="target"/><span id="other"/>'); I need a way to select target from obj, but I don't know in advance when to use .find and when to use .filter. What would be the fastest and/or most concise method of extracting target from obj? What I've come up with is: var $target = obj.find("#target").add(obj.filter("#target")); UPDATE I'm adding solutions to a JSPERF test page to see which one is the best. Changing <object> height and width works in Chrome but not Firefox or IE. Why?

I am making a site with two Youtube videos. These videos use the raw embed code from Youtube. The site's design doesn't work with any of the default Youtube sizes, so I am writing code to automatically resize the video. Here is my code. jQuery + External javascript: How to embed videoplayer in div

I just started with jQuery and so far I have a really good impression of the framework. But now I have a problem that I can't figure out on myself. I want to embed an external javascript file that loads a videoplayer and displays it. If I include the <script>...</script> directly in HTML it loads just fine. But when I try to load it with jQuery it has very different behaviors in several browsers but it doesn't work in a single one. Either the player is not loaded at all or it doesn't update the selected div but reloads the player on a blank page. I've tried to debug into the code and it seems to blow-up in the ExtractFieldValue() function inside FieldBase.cs where it tries to return out of the function. The following line seems to be the culprit: res.ToArray(ArrayType); It seems to expect the 'res' variable to be the destination type array, but it contains 1 element of the array itself. Can anyone suggest if I'm doing this wrong or a possible fix?

How to delete a cell in UITableView by using custom button in cell ?

I have UITableView. I customized the cell height (increased). I have 4 labels(UILabel) and 1 image(UIImage) and 3 buttons (UIButton). one of the button is delete button. By touching the cell or button(play button) on the image a video is loaded and played. I need to delete the cell by touching delete button. If I touched the delete button the corresponding video is deleted from library . But, how to delete the cell and all remaining data in it ? I am not able to delete the cells or the data in the cells. How to do it ? I used these. Process xml-like log file queue

Hi all, first of all: I'm not a programmer, never was, although had learn a lot during my professional carreer as a support consultant. Now my task is to process - and create some statistics about a constantly written and rapidly growing XML like log file. It's not valid XML, because it does not have a proper <root> element, e.g. the log looks like this: <log itemdate="somedate"> <field id="0" /> ... </log> <log itemdate="somedate+1"> <field id="0" /> ... </log> <log itemdate="somedate+n"> <field id="0" /> ... </log> E.g. I have to count all the items with field id=0. But most of the solutions I had found (e.g. using XPath) reports an error about the garbage after the first closing </log>. Most probably I can use python (2.6, although I can compile 3.x as well), or some really old perl version (5.6.x), and recently compiled xmlstarlet which really looks promising - I was able to create the statistics for a certain period after copying the file, and pre- & appending the opening and closing root element. But this is a huge file and copying takes time as well. Isn't there a better solution? Thanks in advance!

Unsort: remembering a permutation and undoing it.

Suppose I have a function f that takes a vector v and returns a new vector with the elements transformed in some way. It does that by calling function g that assumes the vector is sorted. So I want f to be defined like so: f[v_] := Module[{s, r}, s = Sort[v]; (* remember the permutation applied in order to sort v *) r = g[s]; Unsort[r] (* apply the inverse of that permutation *) ] What's the best way to do the "Unsort"? Or could we get really fancy and have this somehow work: answer = Unsort[g[Sort[v]]]; ADDED: Let's make this concrete with a toy example. Suppose we want a function f that takes a vector and transforms it by adding to each element the next smallest element, if any. That's easy to write if we assume the vector is sorted, so let's write a helper function g that makes that assumption: g[v_] := v + Prepend[Most@v, 0] Now for the function we really want, f, that works whether or not v is sorted: f[v_] := (* remember the order; sort it; call g on it; put it back in the original order; return it *)

JAXB code generation: how to remove a zero occurrence field?

Hi all, I use JAXB 2.1 to generate Java classes from several XSD files, and I have a problem related to complex type restriction. On of the restrictions modifies the occurence configuration from minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" to minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="0". Thus this field is not needed anymore in the restricted type. But actually JAXB generates the restricted class with a [0..1] cardinality instead of 0. By the way the generation is tuned with <xjc:treatRestrictionLikeNewType / so that a XSD restriction is not mapped to a Java class inheritance. Here is an example: Here is the way a field is defined in a complex type A: <element name="qualifier" type="CR" maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0"/ Here is the way the same field is restricted in another complex type B that restricts A: <element name="qualifier" type="CR" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="0"/ In the A generated class I have: @XmlElement(name = "qualifier") protected List<CR qualifiers; And in the B generated class I have: protected CR qualifiers; With my poor understanding of JAXB the absence of the XmlElement annotation tells JAXB not to marshall/unmarshall this field. Am I wrong? If I am right is there a way to tell JAXB not to generate the qualifiers field at all? This would be in my opinion a much better generation as it respects the constraints. Appending an existing XML file with c#

I have an existing XML file that I would like to append without changing the format. Existing File looks like this: <Clients> <User username="farstucker"> <UserID>1</UserID> <DOB /> <FirstName>Steve</FirstName> <LastName>Lawrence</LastName> <Location>NYC</Location> </User> </Clients> How can I add another user using this format? Is this text wrapping technique possible in CSS and jQuery?

I have built a sliding text thing for a website. http://www.solomonadventures.com/~new/adventure-tours/seafari-tours/ The background contains the menu (on the right hand side), and when it originally loads, I have placed an element to make the text look like it is wrapping around the menu. Now, I have a sliding text thing I was asked to implement. The buttons to use it are currently in the top left corner. My question is, when I slide the content down, am I able to somehow make the text still wrap around it? This is all I have thought of so far (all with trade offs) Make the text appear beneath the menu - no need to wrap Make the text as narrow to the beginning of the menu - no need to wrap Manually place placeholders in the text that make it line break so it appears to wrap - not elegant (site uses a CMS too) Is there any jQuery selector I could write that would allow me to select the paragraph from top (once slid to the top) or the top most text node (so I could do an after() to place a new placeholder element to force it to wrap?) Any other solutions? Many thanks.

Support clicking a link, but sending a POST (vs GET) to the server, without Ajax?

I'm thinking this isn't exactly possible, but maybe I'm wrong. I'm simply torn between those who believe that only POST requests should modify data on the server and people that relax the rule and allow GET requests to modify data. Take this situation. Say you have a table, each row is a row in the database. I'd like to allow them to delete the row via a fancy "X" icon as the very last <td></td> element in the row. AFAIK, the only way to send a POST to the server is via a form. But do I really stuff an entire form into the last <td></td> element just to do a POST? Or should I cheat and use an <a href=...></a> tag that sends a GET request? You may be thinking "Do both! Send a POST AND use the <a ...></a> tag! Use fancy javascript + xhr!" And I'll say, oh? And how will that degrade in a zero javascript environment? Maybe we've reached a point when it doesn't make sense to worry about gracefully degrading? I'm not sure. You tell me? I'm new to web development, but I understand most of the concepts involved.

Doctrine 2 entity cannot be saved with its many-to-many related entities

I'm writing a project in ZF and have many-to-many related accounts and videos entities and I provide the account with the videos collection. When I try to save the account I receive the following error: A new entity was found through the relationship 'Entities\Account#playlistVideos' that was not configured to cascade persist operations for entity: Entities\Video@000000004d5f02ef00000000196757dc. Explicitly persist the new entity or configure cascading persist operations on the relationship. If you cannot find out which entity causes the problem implement 'Entities\Video#__toString()' to get a clue. I found a suggested solution with cascade={"persist"} which should allow videos to be saved together with the account by only specifying $this-em-persist($account) but then I get the error: Fatal error: method_exists(): The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition "Proxies\EntitiesAccountProxy" of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded before unserialize() gets called or provide a __autoload() function to load the class definition in... The same happens when I try to manually persist videos and account. Thank you for the help in advance.

Pushing a vector into an vector

I have a 2d vector typedef vector <double> record_t; typedef vector <record_t> data_t; data_t data; So my 2d vector is data here. It has elements like say, 1 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 3 4 4 4 4 4 5 5 5 5 5 Now I want to insert these elements into another 2d vector std::vector< vector<double> > window; So what I did was to create an iterator for traversing through the rows of data and pushing it into window like std::vector< std::vector<double> >::iterator data_it; for (data_it = data.begin() ; data_it != data.end() ; ++data_it){ window.push_back ( *data_it ); // Do something else } Can anybody tell me where I'm wrong or suggest a way to do this ? BTW I want to push it just element by element because I want to be able to do something else inside the loop too. i.e. I want to check for a condition and increment the value of the iterator inside. for example, if a condition satisfies then I'll do data_it+=3 or something like that inside the loop. XSLT: Using a different way of processing within the current way of processing.

Below I'm trying to match certain nodes. <xsl:template match="nodes"> <element> <xsl:apply-templates select="nodes" mode="different" /> </element> </xsl:template> Now, there are multiple ways of processing for the same nodes. I want to use this different way of processing within the current way of processing. That's why I perform apply-templates on the same selection, which is nodes, however the mode is different now. Here's how the different mode could look like: <xsl:template match="nodes" mode="different">  </xsl:template> Now, this does not work. Only the first type of processing is processed and the apply-templates call is simply not applied. What am I doing wrong, how can I get what I want using XSLT? What could be another approach to solve this problem?

Using ms: xpath functions inside XPathExpression

I am trying to use Microsoft XPath Extension Functions (such as ms:string-compare http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms256114.aspx) inside an XPathExpression object. Trying to grab several random videos from database, but it just shows the same one all the time.

So I end up with 5 of the same video rather than 5 different ones. Have something loaded only when JList item is visibile

Hello, i'm implementing a Jlist populated with a lot of elements. Each element corresponds to a image so i'd like to show a resized preview of them inside each row of the list. I've implemented a custom ImageCellRenderer extending the Jlabel and on getListCellRendererComponent i create the thumbnail if there'snt any for that element. Each row corresponds to a Page class where i store the path of the image and the icon applied to the JLabel. Each Page object is put inside a DefaultListModel to populate the JList. I've tried to load the items and after set the model in the JList or set the model first and after starting appending the items but the results are the same. Is there any way to load the data only when necessary or do i need to create a custom control like a JScrollPanel with stacked items inside where i check myself the visibility of each elements? Most watched videos this week

I have a youtube like web-page where users upload&watch videos. I would like to add a "most watched videos this week" list of videos to my page. But this list should not contain just the videos that ware uploaded in the previous week, but all videos. I'm currently recording views in a column, so I have no information on when a video was watched. So now I'm searching for a solution to how to record this data. The first is the most obvious (and the correct one, as far as I know): have a separate table in which you insert a new line every time you want to record a new view (storing the ID of the video and the timestamp). I'm worried that I would quickly get huge amounts of data in this table, and queries using this table would be extremely slow (we get about 3 million views a month). The second solution isn't as flexible but is more easy on the database. I would add 7 columns to the "videos" table (one for each day of the week): views_monday, views_tuesday , views_wednesday, ... And increment the value in the correct column based on the day it is. And I would reset the current day's column to 0 at midnight. I could then easily get the most watched videos of the week by summing this 7 columns. What do you think, should I bother with the first solution or will the second one suffice for my case? If you have a better solution please share! Oh, I'm using MySQL.

PHP - Parse XML subitems using foreach()

I have an XML file that needs parsing in PHP. I am currenlty using simplexml_load_file to load the file like so: $xml = simplexml_load_file('Project.xml'); Inside that XML file lies a structure like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <project> <name>Project 1</name> <features> <feature>Feature 1</feature> <feature>Feature 2</feature> <feature>Feature 3</feature> <feature>Feature 4</feature> </features> </project> What I am trying to do is print the <name> contents along with EACH <feature> element within <features>. I'm not sure how to do this because there is more than 1 element called <feature>. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the purpose of the Html "no-js" class?

I notice that in a lot of template engines, in the HTML5 Boilerplate, in various frameworks and in plain php sites there is the no-js class added onto the html element. Why is this done? Is there some sort of default browser behavior that reacts to this class? Why include it always? Does that not render the class itself obsolete, if there is no no-"no-js" case and html can be addressed directly? Here is an example from the HTML5 Boilerplate index.html:      <html lang="en" class="no-js">  As you can see, the html element will always have this class. Can someone explain why this is done so often?
