• pdf2swf using MAC OS Batch command or Apple script

  How do I write a batch process on the Mac for pdf2swf, I want to convert all pdfs in a folder into swf. But pdf2swf doesn't have a option to convert a folder of pdfs to swfs, you have to do it one at a time.   I'm writing a C# DKIM validator and have come across a problem that I cannot solve. Right now I am working on calculating the body hash, as described in Section 3.7 Computing the Message Hashes. I am working with emails that I have dumped using a modified version of EdgeTransportAsyncLogging sample in the Exchange 2010 Transport Agent SDK. Instead of converting the emails when saving, it just opens a file based on the MessageID and dumps the raw data to disk. And while I was working on it (failing to get it to work) I finally came across a message with c=simple/simple which means that you process the whole body as is minus any empty CRLF at the end of the body. (Really, the rules for Body Canonicalization are quite ... simple.) Here is the real DKIM email with a signature using the simple algorithm (with only unneeded headers cleaned up). Now, using the above code and updating the expectedBase64 hash I get the following results: Expected hash: VnGg12/s7xH3BraeN5LiiN+I2Ul/db5/jZYYgt4wEIw= Computed hash: ISNNtgnFZxmW6iuey/3Qql5u6nflKPTke4sMXWMxNUw= Are equal: False The expected hash is the value from the bh= field of the DKIM-Signature header. Now, the file used in the second test is a direct raw output from the Exchange 2010 Transport Agent. If so inclined, you can view the modified EdgeTransportLogging.txt. At this point, no matter how I modify the second email, changing the start position or number of CRLF at the end of the file I cannot get the files to match. What worries me is that I have been unable to validate any body hash so far (simple or relaxed) and that it may not be feasible to process DKIM through Exchange 2010.

  Hello: we currently do not use asp.net controls (no web forms). The way we do is: 1 Read HTML file from disk 2 lookup database, parse tags and populate data finally, Response.Write(page.ToString()); here there is no possibility of using asp.net controls. • Fiddler - Daily stop start

  What is the best way to stop/start Fiddler as a daily task? I am usin Fiddler to monitor/logs https trafficon machine which runs fully automated and runs software which is not controlled by me, but uses https. My machine stopped yesterday because Fiddler went out of memory after running over 3 days and now I want to have a clean way to start/stop it. I guess I could just specify a process duration in the task manager, but I would prefer something cleaner, especially to avoid issues when things are started manually.

The application is set as the shell here: HKEY_USERS*User*\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\WinLogon\Shell I've tried adding an "AutoRestartShell" key with a value of "1", like what exists in: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\WinLogon. When I kill the application's process for the user (via RDP) the application exits, but never restarts. Ideas?

• WCF: 'Update Service Reference' hoses my files.

  Every time that I make a change to the contract of my WCF service, I need to have Visual Studio update the service references in all of my client projects. This process regenerates my client's app.config file and, since I have hand-tuned the "bindings" section of the file, I need to back-up my file and then restore it each time I have VS do the update. Is there a way to avoid this necessity (eg: have VS update the service reference without rewriting anything in app.config)? Thanks

  I work for a major bank as a contract software developer. I've been there a few months, and without exception this place has the worst software practices I've ever seen. The software my team makes has no formal testing, terrible code (not reusable, hard to read, etc), minimal documentation, no defined development process and an absolutely sickening amount of waste due to bureaucratic overhead. Part of my contract is to maintain a group of thousands of very poorly written batch jobs. When one of the jobs fails (read: crashes), it's a developers job to look at the source, figure out what's wrong, fix it, and check it in. There is no quality assurance process or auditing of the results whatsoever. Once the developer says "it works" a manager signs off and it goes into production. What's disturbing is that these jobs essentially grab market data and put it into a third-party risk management system, which provides the bank with critical intelligence. I've discovered the disturbing truth that this has been happening since the 90s and nobody really has evidence the system is getting the correct data! Without going into details, an issue arose on Friday that was so horrible I actually stormed out of the place. I was ready to quit, but I decided to just get out to calm my nerves and possibly go back Monday. I've been reflecting today on how to handle this. I have realized that, in probably less than 6 months, I could (with 2 other developers) remake a large component of this system. The new system would provide them with, as primary benefits, a maintainable codebase less prone to error and a solid QA framework. To do it properly I would have to be outside the bank, the internal bureaucracy is just too much. And moreover, I think a bank is fundamentally not a place that can make good software. This is my plan. Write a report explaining in depth all the problems with their current system Explain why their software practices fail and generate a tremendous amount of error and waste. Use this as the basis for claiming the project must be developed externally. Write a high level development plan, including what resources I will require Hand 1,2,3 to my manager, hopefully he passes it up the chain. Worst case he fires me, but this isn't so bad. Convinced Executive decides to award my company a contract for the new system I have 8 years experience as a software contractor and have delivered my share of successful software products, but all working in-house for small/medium sized companies. When I read this over, I think I have a dynamite plan. But since this is the first time doing something this bold so I have my doubts. My question is, is this a good idea? If you think not, please spare no detail.

• Java multithreaded server - each connection returns data. Processing on main thread?

  I am writing a client with an integrated server that should wait indefinitely for new connections - and handle each on a Thread. I want to process the received byte array in a system wide available message handler on the main thread. However, currently the processing is obviously done on the client thread. I've looked at Futures, submit() of ExecutorService, but as I create my Client-Connections within the Server, the data would be returned to the Server thread. How can I return it from there onto the main thread (in a synchronized packet store maybe?) to process it without blocking the server?
