    I'm making a mining/building game in java using slick2D and I want to make it so you can only see a few blocks in any direction while you are underground. The best example I could find of what I want to do is the game miner dig deep. One way I thought of doing it would be to have a large image and just draw transparent areas on it where you need to be able too see but even if that would be an efficient method I wouldn't be sure how to do that.

    hello I'm new in linux systems and I have the same problem in every distro... the thing is that my mouse every time i move it or do anything with it blinks!!! I think it's a xorg problem or a driver problem and the only way it does not do that is when i start with the low-resolution error using a xorg.conf from another graphic chipset and i think that isn't the best choise xDD please if you can help me I have a ati rage 128, thanks a lot for your help people n.n

Like webshops where you can post your products are also uploading images to show them immediatly. I could obviously create and use any arbitrary folder (such as /home/shared, /data or /var/data), but I'm really wondering if there are any "best" or "common" practice guidelines. The Filesystem Hierarchy Standard doesn't specify a location for shared data. For backups, I tend to use /var/backups, but as several cronjobs write to it should it really be left for their use?

    I've been playing around with the iOS 7 SpriteKit APIs and I totally love them. As I'm pretty much a n00b on Android, I'm wondering what the best Alternative would be if I wanted to go cross platform? I find Cocos2D learning curve pretty steep, where with SpriteKit it's a matter of minutes to get something on the screen. Then there's MonoGame and Cocos 2D for MonoGame - haven't tried either one I must admit.
