  • Android 2.2: Screen brightness/timeout question

    Im using the following code to adjust the brightness of the screen: public void SetBright(float value) { Window mywindow = getWindow(); WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = mywindow.getAttributes(); lp.screenBrightness = value; mywindow.setAttributes(lp); } But i want the brightness to be 0% for a specific time. But when i use SetBright(0.0f), i cant change it back. I made a timer that runs for a minute with 0% brightness, then turns it back to 100%. Works when i use 10% for example. But when i turn it to 0% i cant seem to wake it up again. Any ideas how to solve this?

    I need to knowingly isolate each row of the vcard and get its value. For instance, I want to get "5555" from X-CUSTOMFIELD. So far, my thoughts are: "X-CUSTOMFIELD;\d+" I have been looking at some tutorials and I am a little confused with what function to use? What would my regex above return? Would it give me the whole line or just the numerical part (5555)? I was thinking I i get the whole row, I can use substring to get the digits?     I am using Google Apps Premier Edition. I want to create a disposable email address service and I want to catch all emails for a domain. This means that I should be able to catch all mails sent to an arbitrary userid and/or arbitrary domain and store them into a single Google Apps account. For example, in a single account I want to get all mails sent to: 1) [email protected] 2) [email protected] without requiring to do any extra configuration in Google Apps for abc or xyz. My app will download mails from this account and process accordingly. I have figured out that I could do (1) by specifying a catch all email address. Is the combination of both (1) and (2) possible?

  • Loopj Android Async Http - onFailure not fired

    I am using the great async http library from loopj, but I have run into a small snag. If the user has no internet connection or loses their connection, the app just won't return anything. This part is expected, but it also doesn't fire the onFailure method. Also, the code I have used when there is an internet connection does work so there is no problem on the server end. Here is some code that is stripped down to the minimum.     I added some new functionality in C and when I try to build it, it gives me the following error: libnativehelper/include/nativehelper/JNIHelp.h:116: error: undefined reference to 'jniRegisterNativeMethods' error. I have included jnihelp.h in my C files. Is this a makefile related issue or am I missing something?     I am using Android HoneyComb.I need to execute some tasks parallely and I am using AsyncTask's public final AsyncTask executeOnExecutor (Executor exec, Params... params) method.In each separate thread I am computing some values and I need to store then in an ArrayList.I must then sort all the values in the arrayList and then display it in the UI.Now my question is if one of the thread gets completed earlier than the other then will it immediately call the onPostExecute method or onPostExecute method will be called after all the background threads have been completed?MY program implementation depends on what occurs here.

    I have a ListActivity and in it I set my list items with a class that extends SimpleCursorAdapter. I'm overriding bindView to set my Views. I have some TextViews and ImageViews.     I have a database with which I wish to expose data with a ContentProvider. However, it is important that all the colums are not exposed, and also they should be renamed. Is there any good way of doing this? I was thinking maybe some kind of proxy-cursor which takes a cursor and translates its columns to the desired ones, and calls to close and the like would just be replayed to the original cursor. Does something like this exist, or would it be hard to make?

  • Question about the lifecycle of a simple Android application

    Hi, I've got a simple application with 3 activities: -the first contains a search box which calls a web service and show the results (restaurants) below in a listview -when a restaurant is clicked another activity is started showing the description of the restaurant and a button "show map" -when the button "show map" is clicked, guess what, the map is shown in a third activity. All the data is loaded in the first activity by a web service (restaurant descriptions and coordinates), and data required by each activity is passed in a bundle using "intent.putExtra". Now everything seems to run smoothly when clicking on the back button (eg. clicking on the back button from the map resumes the "restaurant description" activity with all data set properly), while I haven't done anything about the lifecycle yet. Why? Are all variables saved automatically? Should I use onSaveInstanceState() and onRestoreInstanceState() anyway? Thanks Jul

  • Google Analytics--My second profile to an existing domain not tracking

    Hey Guys, I created a second profile to my Analytics account to track SEO keywords. This is a second profile for my existing working domain. It has been 4 days and I still do not see any traffic on this secondary profile. The profile shows a Staus of "Unknown". But I do not see a way to validate it like you have to when you create your first profile and this should not be necessary for a profile to my existing domain. Any ideas what I am missing? Thanks!
