• django modelformset - one form per related table row

  Hello, I have two models: class Model1(): name = CharField() url = CharField() class Model2(): model1 = ForeignKey(Model1) user = ForeignKey(User) zzz = CharField() There are 5 rows for model1 in the database, these are fixed and will rarely change. I need to display a formset for model2 that allows users to enter the zzz value, the formset must always show one form per row in the model1 table, the label for each form in the formset must be the name of the related model1. If the user deletes a model2 in the formset the next time the page loads it will render an empty zzz value for that form and the user must be able to edit the previous zzz value - meaning it must be pre populated with all model2 rows associated with the user. The idea is to print each row in the model1 table as a form instead of the user selecting the related model1 name in a select box. I know its not that complicated, but I'm seriously stumped and keep going round in circles!! Many thanks in advance. • micro-SD card initialization using SPI interface

  I'm using a micro-SD card in an embedded design. The card is connected to a microcontroller using the SPI interface. It worked fine for all cards I've used before, but now my new card will not initialize. The card is a Transcend 2GB micro-SD card (TS2GUSD). After sending the initial clock train to switch to SPI mode I do the following: 1) CMD0 (Argument 0, CRC 0x95) - Response 0x01 - OK 2) CMD8 (Argument 0x000001AA, CRC 0x87) - Response 0x01 0x000001AA - Means it's SDC V2+ card, the Voltage range 2.7V~3.6V is supported - OK Then I should send the ACMD41 command, but when sending the CMD55 (argument 0, CRC 0) that must precede CMD41, I get response 0x05 - Illegal Command. I've also tried to send CMD1 (for MMC cards), but it gives a similar Illegal Command response. The code works fine with my Sandisk 2GB micro-SD card. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks, -Ron-

• Building cURL & libcurl with Visual Studio 2010

  With the help of question #197444, I have managed to build cURL & libcurl from source on Windows from within the Visual Studio 2010 IDE, OpenSSL 1.0.0, and zlib 1.2.5. The problem I see is that at the moment, if I run the resulting curl.exe with the argument -V, then the version that it report is curl 7.20.1 (i386-pc-win32) libcurl/7.20.1 OpenSSL/0.9.8d zlib/1.2.3 Protocols: dict file ftp ftps http https imap imaps ldap pop3 pop3s rtsp smtp smtps telnet tftp Features: AsynchDNS Largefile NTLM SSL libz Note the versions reported for both OpenSSL & zlib doesn't match if what I actually used. Any idea on how to fix this? p.s. Is there a clear list of optional components that can be compiled into libcurl and what options/preprocessor directive to use? (e.g. SSPI, libidn, ...?)

  I really don't want to rile anyone's feathers and I really enjoy blogs like Joel, Coding Horror, Scott Hanselman, etc. However, what are some good blogs/podcasts that focus on other platforms besides Microsoft based ones or maybe even no particular platform at? In particular I am interested in areas like Python, Ruby, Java, C, but any area besides Microsoft fits the bill. There may be other similar questions to this but I think this one is unique since we might get some answers we wouldn't see otherwise, that is, everyone knows Coding Horror is great. Please try to refrain from religious debates; the content of the blog is more important than the platform they are talking about, I just want to get an idea of what is out there and worth the time.

• Figuring Out Memory Leaks without Clang

  I'm trying to see if I can find some leaks myself in Apple's TopSongs app. Can someone help me out in at least one and how to identify what is in the Leaks reports and how I can get an idea on finding them? ie: I got one like this: # Category Event Type Timestamp Address Size Responsible Library Responsible Caller 0 GeneralBlock-448 Malloc 00:02.185 0x3f41220 448 libxml2.2.dylib xmlNewParserCtxt From what I can tell, the method xmlNewParserCtxt is the problem, and it's not releasing an object, hence Malloc. The responsible library tells me it's the libxml2.2.dylib library with the problem, which I can't edit. Am I heading in the right direction? If so, half the leaks are in that library and well, i can't edit that.

  I am using JdbcTemplate.queryForInt to insert a Row into the DB, and then get the ID back. The Query is "INSERT INTO metadocs(NAME) values (?) RETURNING METADOCID". If I run the statement in Flamerobin, it works fine. • Seamless jQuery Marquee?

  Is it possible to create a 100% seamless marquee in jQuery (or just javascript but jQuery prefered)? I've made a simple marquee that moves left until it is off the screen then simply jumps (when out of view) to the right and starts again. However I would love it to not have the wait. The only way I could think of doing this would be to duplicate the text and put it after the first text, then swap them round again. However I have no idea how to implement this in jQuery. Any ideas?

The following code works fine when the fields are presented on a regular view but when they are on a popover, the resignFirstResponder does not work (becomeFirstResponder works). textFieldsShouldReturn was called for both fields. • Why didn't 12.04 install?

  Ok, so I've installed Ubuntu many times on my computer.. Normally on the same partition, and WIndows would always delete Ubuntu(I don't know how.. it just happens) if i go away from keyboard during boot and it chooses Windows automatically because I took to long. So i tried to reinstall again, but after the fifth time it wouldn't let me, and told me to check "wubi-12.04-rev266.log". It took a while to find, but when i found it, I had no idea what any of it meant, as I'm no programmer.I first tried this the day Precise Pangolin came out. SO skip ahead 2.5 months, when I finally found this file, and i then got the idea of making a new partition to install Ubuntu on, but I used wubi, like I always did. It didn't look like it would f anything up, so I did it. it went through all the downloads, extracting, etc. Which took about 40 minutes total, then ended with an error message saying to check "wubi-12.04-rev266.log". i did. • Catches communication exception instead of custom fault exception - WCF

In my web.config servicebehaviour tag consist <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> Any idea where I'm going wrong

  I'm trying to build a debug version of rtl140.bpl to make debugging apps with runtime packages easier. I built the DPK and ran DCC32 on it, and it gets a ways in, then dies. C:\Program Files (x86)\Embarcadero\RAD Studio\7.0\source\Win32\rtl\sys\Variants.pas(1072) Fatal: F2092 Program or unit 'Variants' recursively uses itself But looking at Variants.pas, I can't see how. It only uses SysUtils and Types in the interface section, and neither of those use Variants, or use anything that uses Variants. Does anyone have any idea why this is breaking?

• why is there no interface file with silverlight enabled wcf services

  Using Visual Studio 2010 when creating a wcf service the template creates a class file, svc endpoint and an interface file. Why is it that when adding a silverlight-enabled wcf service they don't follow this pattern. As discussed here this seems like a bad idea. After adding the silverlight-enabled service, should one go back and incorporate the interface as discussed in the referenced article. If so, then would it not be as simple to start with a simple WCF service, bypassing the whole "silverlight-enabled" bits altogether.

  I'm attempting to create Data Access Layer for my web application. Currently, all datatables are stored in the session. When I am finished the DAL will populate and return datatables. Is it a good idea to store the returned datatables in the session? A distributed/shared cache? Or just ping the database each time? Note: generally the number of rows in the datatable will be small < 2000. Thanks

• xperf won't use my DLL's pdb

  I'm attempting to use xperf to profile my (unmanaged) DLL which is loaded by another (managed) application. Basically, xperf isn't loading the symbols for my DLL; in the CPU usage summary, my DLL's function column says 'Unknown' xperf gives me: xperf: Using symbol path: C:\app\mydll\releaseu;SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols xperf: Using executable path: C:\app\mydll\releaseu;SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols xperf: Using SymCache path: \SymCache Where C:\app\mydll\releaseu is where my DLL's .pdb file is located. Using xperf -symbols or clicking Load Symbols in the viewer doesn't load my DLL's symbols. A folder for mydll isn't created in C:\Symbols, I'm only getting the symbols from Microsoft. Any idea how to make it work?

I've used flex/bison for parser, but I need to use ANTLR. The only thing I'm concerned about using ANTLR (or LL parser in genearal) is left recursion removal. In practical sense, how serious of removing left recursion in ANTLR? Is this a showstopper in using ANTLR? Or, nobody cares about it in ANTLR community? I like the idea of AST generation of ANTLR. In terms of getting AST quick and easy way, which method (out of the 2 removing left recursion methods) is preferable?

  I am building a MVVM application. The model / entity (I am using NHibernate) is already done, and I am thinking of using AutoMapper to map between the ViewModel and Model. How have you been using Automapper in a MVVM app? Please help!

  I'm trying to do some COM interop and attempting to invoke the INetCfgComponent::RaisePropertyUi method. I've gotten to the point where I can enumerate devices and get a valid INetCfgComponent for the adapter that I want to display the UI for. However, I'm a COM newbie (let alone COM interop) so I have no idea what the third argument in RaisePropertyUi() is meant to be. I've tried passing in the INetCfgComponent object that I have, but that just results in a InvalidCastException. MSDN has the following to say about the argument: Pointer to the IUnknown interface. RaisePropertyUi retrieves from IUnknown the interface of the context in which to display a network component's property sheet. RaisePropertyUi uses this interface to restrict the display of the property sheet to the context of a connection.

  I'm very impressed with MonoTouch.Dialog by Miguel. inspired by his simple approach I thought it would be very nice to have a reflection based NSUserDefaults class that works seamlessly by marking certain properties as "persistable in user defaults" and forget about the rest. something like this: public class SomeController { [PersistInUserSettings] public string LastPostUserRead { get; set; } } I don't like the LastPostUserRead to be of type "UserSetting", I like it to be a normal property so that later I can assign to it like: LastPostUserRead = "Post 1"; and not like: LastPostUserRead.SetValue("Post 1"); Any idea on how to implement it (without Reflection.Emit) in monotouch?

• Improving ANTLR DSL parse-error messages

  I'm working on a domain-specific language (DSL) for non-programmers. Non-programmers make a lot of grammar mistakes: they misspell keywords, they don't close parentheses, they don't terminate blocks, etc. I'm using ANTLR to generate my parser; it provides a nifty mechanism for handling RecognitionExceptions to improve error handling. But I'm finding it pretty hard to develop good error-handling code for my DSL. At this point, I'm considering ways to simplify the language to make it easier for me to provide users with high-quality error messages, but I'm not really sure how to go about this. I think I want to reduce the ambiguity of errors somehow, but I'm not sure how to implement that idea in a grammar. In what ways can I simplify my language to improve parse-error messages for my users? EDIT: Updated to clarify that I'm interested in ways to simplify my language, not just ANTLR error-handling tips in general. (Though, thanks for those!)
