• Help on choosing which SQL Server 2008 scale-out solution to pick (replication, ...)

  I am currently crossing the jungle of SQL Server scale-out technologies like replication, log-shipping, mirroring... I have the following constraints on my choice: I want the read-only load to be spread accross the primary and the secondary (mirror, subscriber) server Write load can be sent directly to the primary server The solution should be nearly maintainance free. Schema changes should just replicate to the secondary server (attention: replication has some serious constraints here as it seems) Written data should be accessible very quickly (in under 1s, but better would be instantaneously) on the secondary server On server failure I can tollerate up to one hour of data loss easily. • Handling a colon in an element ID in a CSS selector

  JSF is setting the ID of an input field to search_form:expression. I need to specify some styling on that element, but that colon looks like the beginning of a pseudo-element to the browser so it gets marked invalid and ignored.   Hi all I have a .swf flash gallery that loads pics from a XML file the probelm is when I modify the XML the modifications do not reflect on the flash till I delete the browsing cache from the browser I tried to disable caching using code like this Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); Response.AddHeader("Pragma","no-cache"); Response.Expires = -1; but not working is there any workaround for this ? thanks

  I am writing a python script that downloads a file given by a URL. Unfortuneatly the URL is in the form of a PHP script i.e. www.website.com/generatefilename.php?file=5233 If you visit the link in a browser, you are prompted to download the actual file and extension. I need to send this link to the downloader, but I can't send the downloader the PHP link. How would I get the full file name in a usable variable?

  I am trying to get Opera to re-request a page every time instead of just serving it from the cache. I'm sending the 'Cache-control=no-cache' and 'Pragma: no-cache' response headers but it seems as if Opera is just ignoring these headers. It works fine in other browsers - Chrome, IE, Firefox. How do I stop Opera from caching pages? What I want to be able to do is have Opera re-request a page when the user clicks the Back button on the browser.

It's using a UNC path similar to \\houtestmachine\common\File1.pdf My problem is when it encounters files that have a # character. I tried doing a string newstring = originalstring.Replace("#", "%23"); but the # is still there in URL (target of a hyperlink) at runtime in the browser. How can I fix this?

  b'h i will be programmatically importing a text file into a table. i have saved the import steps. i will use this: DoCmd.TransferText(TransferType, SpecificationName, TableName, FileName, HasFieldNames, HTMLTableName, CodePage) to do the import. this is what SpecificationName means: Specification Name The specification name for the set of options that determines how a text file is imported, exported, or linked. For a fixed-width text file, you must either specify a specification name or use a schema.ini file, which should be stored in the same directory as the imported, linked, or exported text file. i do need a specific specification; however i do not know how to specify one. when i manually imported a table, i did save the specifications for my import, however i do not know how to call this in the TransferText. does anyone know how to specify SpecificationName ?
