• Best way to reuse a Runnable

  I have a class that implements Runnable and am currently using an Executor as my thread pool to run tasks (indexing documents into Lucene). executor.execute(new LuceneDocIndexer(doc, writer)); My issue is that my Runnable class creates many Lucene Field objects and I would rather reuse them then create new ones every call. What's the best way to reuse these objects (Field objects are not thread safe so I cannot simple make them static) - should I create my own ThreadFactory? I notice that after a while the program starts to degrade drastically and the only thing I can think of is it's GC overhead. I am currently trying to profile the project to be sure this is even an issue - but for now lets just assume it is.

• View is moved 3 pixels

  Hello, In my app I move the table view (in order to make the text fields visible when the keyboard appears). The view is looks following: This is the code I use for resizing the view and moving it up: static const NSUInteger navBarHeight = 44; CGRect appFrame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; tableView.frame = CGRectMake(0, navBarHeight, appFrame.size.width, appFrame.size.height-navBarHeight-216); //216 for the keyboard NSIndexPath *indPath = [self getIndexPathForTextField:textField]; //get the field the view should scroll to [tableView scrollToRowAtIndexPath:indPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionMiddle animated:YES]; The problem is that when the view is moved up it also moves 3 pixels into right direction (it is hard to see the difference in the screenshot, but it is visible when the animation is on and I measured the difference with PixelStick tool). Here it is how it looks after the move: My analysis shows that scrolling the table does not influence the move to the right. Any ideas what is wrong in the code above that makes the view move to the right?

  I am trying to import a function from a c dll into C#. The Dictionary looks like this: Dictionary<string, List<ushort>> msgs I am a bit confused how to make a make a proper call to pass msgs as the buffer. deviceNumber is 2, wordCount is 32, and buffLink is 0. So i know the call should look something like this write_buffer(2,32,0, msgs[key]); Obviously i am getting an invalid argument for the IntPtr. What is the proper way to make this call?

• Alternative to iframe using AJAX

  Hello. I have a music player swf embedded on an html page. Is there any way to have the music continuously play, even when the different html pages are loaded? When a link is clicked, the page is refreshed, also restarting the swf(music). If the site was AJAX driven, this wouldn't be a problem, but all my pages are static. I suppose I could put the entire body in an iframe, but there has to be a better option. Any ideas?

  In a C# Winforms (3.5) application I have added a class that contains many properties (get/set) used to stored values from a 12 form long process. After form 12 I would like wipe out all the property values in the storing class so that the next user won't accidentally record values when starting the process at form 1. Is it possible to erase/destroy/dispose of all property values in a class? • Widget_Controller for different types of data (MVC)

  Hello, I have a few widgets I need to show on a site - they are all relating to different types of data (e.g user, house). Each type of data and its relations is represented in specific models, but as far as a controller or helper is concerned, is it an ok plan to have a generic Widget controller/helper which generates the necessary widgets, even though each widget is dealing with distinct data? I don't really want to generate these widgets within the User and House controllers, as these controllers are dealing with different types of functionality. I'd imagine that the Widget_Controller could just contain static methods for generating these widgets, e.g: Widget_Controller::user_panel(); Does that make sense? Cheers!

• Why did I get a 400 Bad Request when getting a page with PHP Curl?

  Hi, I was trying to access a page using curl. I could access it perfectly using the browser and using "static" strings as the URL, like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=1234" But when I tried to access the page using a variable in the URL string like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=$param" I got a 400 error code. I checked out on the web and found some comments here in this stackoverflow thread: Then, just for curiosity I did the following: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=" . trim($param); and it worked! And no, $param did NOT contain any spaces. To me, it seems that it can be some encoding error, but I really can't find an explanation for it. Does anyone here in stackoverflow know what it can possibly be? Thanks in advance :)

UPDATE: sorry, I didn't clarify enought. I'm using simple textbox, buttons components for this. The application will be distribuited for people wich have very old PCs, even with windows 95.   Question: In Flash I have the below function. Now the problem is SaveFurniture, SavePolygons and SaveComments all save to the same XML file. Now SaveFurniture sends JSON encoded data to a ashx handler, which saves it in the xml on the server.   Hi guys, I have a website that has around 10 pages. Only one of those pages uses Zend (to integrate with Google gData). Right now, it's just all coded into that one page, but I'm wanting to learn how to use Zend Framework. How do you handle basic-relatively static php pages within Zend Framework? Do you just stick the whole individual pages into their own respective views and then have to common stuff in the layout, and not worry about a model and controller for those pages? in general, is MVC accepted and appropriate technology for general "web-design" work?
