• Java 7 New Features

  I have done some good reading on the new java.util.concurrent features being introduced with the java 7 release. For instance, Phaser, TransferQueue and the more exciting Fork Join Framework. I recently saw a power point made by Josh Bloch about even more features that are going to be introduced however that link has been lost. For example I remember one change is being able to build a Map the same way you can build an array for: Map myMap = {"1,Dog","2,Cat"}; and so forth (this may not be 100% correct but the idea is there) Does anyone know of a list or just can name some new things to look forward to? Note: I did see a question asked http://stackoverflow.com/questions/213958/new-features-in-java-7 however it was asked ~2 years ago and I am sure the list of updates are more concrete. Thanks!

• What data stucture should I use for BigInt class

  I would like to implement a BigInt class which will be able to handle really big numbers. I want only to add and multiply numbers, however the class should also handle negative numbers. I wanted to represent the number as a string, but there is a big overhead with converting string to int and back for adding. I want to implement addition as on the high school, add corresponding order and if the result is bigger than 10, add the carry to next order. Then I thought that it would be better to handle it as a array of unsigned long long int and keep the sign separated by bool. With this I'm afraid of size of the int, as C++ standard as far as I know guarantees only that int < float < double. Correct me if I'm wrong. So when I reach some number I should move in array forward and start adding number to the next array position. Is there any data structure that is appropriate or better for this? Thanks in advance.

  Am trying to laod tweets into a div after looping them from yahoo placemaker. They are loading on the div but the information shown by them is placemaker's last result. • Extra NotifyIcon shown in system tray

  I'm having an issue with an app where my NotifyIcon displays an extra icon. The steps to reproduce it are easy, but the problem is that the extra icon shows up after any of the actual codebehind we've added fires. Put simply, clicking a button triggers execution of method FooBar() which runs all the way through fine but its primary duty is to fire a backgroundworker to log into another of our apps. It only appears if this particular button is clicked. Strangely enough, we have a WndProc method override and if I step through until the extra NotifyIcon appears, it always appears during this method so something else beyond the codebehind must be triggering the behavior.   Can someone please help me with this one: When using UISortables where - and how do I put "serialize" into the JQuery function? I have 4 columns class '.columm' and each wit a unique id - col1,col2,col3 & col4. I can get the drag & drop bit to work I now need to put the "final" positions into a serialized array. • Namespace with index action in Rails

  I have an admin controller located inside /controllers/admin/admin_controller.rb I also have a pages controller located inside /controllers/admin/pages_controller.rb In my routes.rb file, I have the following: map.namespace :admin do |admin| admin.resources :pages end When the user goes to localhost:3000/admin, I'd like the user to see a page with a link to /admin/pages (Pages CRUD) and to / (To go back home). Since I am using a namespace, I cannot have an index action for /admin. How would I get this done and still have my controllers located inside my /controllers/admin folder (rather than using admin as a map.resources component and a has_many association to pages). Please note I am only interested in the show action of admin. Thank you!

• Detect modification of variable at runtime in C/C++

  Hello, I am developing a library in C++ where users/programmer will extend a class BaseClass that has a method initArray. This method should be implemented by the user/programmer and it should normally initialize all elements of the array m_arr. Here is a snipplet, modified to this example: class BaseClass { public: BaseClass(int n) { m_arr = new double[n]; size = n; }; virtual ~BaseClass(); int size; double* m_arr; virtual int initArray(); }; Sometimes, the user/programmer implements a initArray that does not initialize some elements of m_arr. What I would like is to create a function in my library that checks if initArray did initialize all elements of m_arr. This function should be called by a sanity-check rutine at runtime. My question: is it possible to detect changes on this array? I can only think of initializing the array with some invalid values (like NaN or Inf), call initArray and check that all values have changed. Thanks for your ideas, David

• Google Maps API v3.9: Blurry custom markers when zooming

  So it appears that Google have fixed the blurry map issue with the 3.9 / 3.10 API, which is great. But there's a new one with custom markers. As soon as you zoom in one level, the custom markers become corrupted / blurry. They rectify themselves if zooming out, although the process of zooming out also makes the markers slightly blurry. The 3.8 API does not exhibit this problem with custom markers. Here's a picture illustrating the problem (I suggest you open the image in a new tab; the blurriness isn't as easily visible when the image is scaled to fit this post). The blurring is most noticeable with the straight lines of the paper crane marker: I've had a prod through the HTML, but I can't really tell how the markers are placed on the map. But I thought that I'd put this issue out there for anyone who has experienced similar, or if anyone has any thoughts on how this can be resolved, save waiting to see if it's a glitch in the API.

• Using methods on 2 input files - 2nd is printing multiple times - Java

  I have the following code to read in text, store in a hashmap as bigrams (with other methods to sort them by frequency and do v. v. basic additive smoothing. I had it working great for one language input file (english) and then I want to expand it for the second language input file (japanese - doens;t matter what it is I suppose) using the same methods but the Japanese bigram hashmap is printing out 3 times in a row with diff. values. I've tried using diff text in the input file, making sure there are no gaps in text etc. I've also put print statements at certain places in the Japanese part of the code to see if I can get any clues but all the print statements are printing each time so I can't work out if it is looping at a certain place. • Google Maps API limitations

  I am working on a project where I am going to create a map over a specific area, and have some points-of-interest included. Thinking of the ones already included in Google Maps. My first thought was that this could be done in the Google Maps API, but I've never worked with if before so therefor I have some questions about it's limitations and capability. Can I limit the map to one specific area? Can I filter the points-of-interest? Ex. only gas stations and hotels etc. Thats about it to get me started at least. Thanks!

  I'm working on Ruby on rails 2.3.4 and I'm trying to develop a Sort feature on my website's search page(its url is /anuncios/buscar). What I tried is to create a "map" on routes file: map.search_filter_relevance "/anuncios/buscar", :controller => 'announcements', :action => 'search_filter_relevance' Then, I wrote this on the view: <%= link_to 'M&Aacute;S RELEVANTES', search_filter_relevance(@announcements) %> And finally, I created a method in the controller, as is specified on the routes' line: def search_filer_relevance raise params.inspect end First of all, as I'm sorting search results, I'd like to keep them in their public variable called @announcements. Please help me do this. An the other thing is that when I click the link I get an error due its trying to access the Show action instead of search_filter_relevance as specified in routes. Why is this happening?

  We have the following legacy 2.0.7 Spring code: final Map<String, MyClass> secondaryFactories = (Map<String, MyClass>) context.getBeansOfType(MyClass.class, false, true); return (MyClass) context.getBean("myClass"); where context is an instance of org.springframework.context.support.AbstractApplicationContext Note that we ignore the return value of getBeansOfType(). This works just fine, but the problem is that the call to getBeansOfType() is time-consuming. However, even though we ignore the return value of this call, if we try to eliminate this call, then the instance of MyClass returned by getBean() is not fully initialized. (So, apparently, the call to getBeansOfType() is having some sort of side-effects that we need.) We suspect that the call to getBeansOfType() is overkill and we could do something more lightweight so that the instance of MyClass obtained by the call to getBean() would be fully initialized (but it's not null and no exception is thrown). So, is there a more efficient way of doing this?

  Hi, I'm pretty new to CakePHP but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm trying to pull related table information recursively, but I want to specify which related models to recurse on. Let me give you an example to demonstrate my goal: I have a model "Customer", which has info like Company name, website, etc. "Customer" hasMany "Addresses", which contain info for individual contacts like Contact Name, Street, City, State, Country, etc. "Customer" also belongsTo "CustomerType", which is just has descriptive category info - a name and description, like "Distributor" or "Manufacturer". When I do a find on "Customer" I want to get associated "CustomerType" and "Address" info as sub-arrays, and this works fine just by setting up the hasMany and belongsTo associations properly. But now, here's my issue: I want to get associated State/Country info. So, instead of each "Address" array row just having "state_id", I want it to have "state" = array("id" = 20, "name" = "New York",...) etc. If I set $recursive to a higher value (e.g., 2) in the Partner model, I get what I want for the State/Country info in each "Address". BUT it also recurses on "CustomerType", and that results in the "CustomerType" field of my "Partner" object having a huge array of all Customer objects that match that type, which could be thousands long. So the point is, I DON'T want to recurse on "CustomerType", only on "Address". Is there a way I can set this up? Sorry for the long-winded question, and thanks in advance!

  In the following code at the end of the for loop I use the assert function in order to test that a[i+1] is greater than or equal to a[i] but I get the following error (after the code below).
