• iPhone OpenGL scrolling background jumps when texture is drawn for first time

  I have been fighting a problem for a while now and would appreciate any help anybody could give. I have a sprite that moves within a landscape. The sprite remains in the center of the screen and the background moves to simulate that the sprite is moving within the landscape. I have split the landscape into sections so that I only draw the sections of the landscape that I need (are on screen). The Problem: As a new texture section of the screen appears on the screen (is drawn for the first time) the movement jumps. Almost like a frame is missed. I have done some timing experiments and I do not thinks a frame is missed. My processing is well below the 30fps that I have the animation set to. It only happens the first time the texture section is drawn. Is there something extra that is done the first time a texture is drawn? Any ideas? Need to flush something? Something gets autoreleased? I really can't figure it out. --Edit-- The error that I receive is GDB: Program received signal "EXC_BAD_ACCESS". --Edit-- I ended up just connecting in the init and closing in the free methods, which might not be the proper way, but that's another question altogether so it's effectively persistent instead of connecting multiple times. Still would be nice to know what was up with this for future reference.

  Today we are told that the 8.1 update, (a version which allows you to keep apps, settings, and files), is officially being rolled out worldwide. No longer will you have to do a clean OS install, to go from 8 to 8.1. But I don't see the update inside my (Enterprise's) desktop 'Windows Update' program, and furthermore, Microsoft themselves say: If you’re running [Enterprise], you can't install the free update to Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1 from the Store. However they DO also say: If you installed Windows 8 using an MSDN ISO, you might be able to install Windows 8.1 using a similar ISO from MSDN But it does not specify whether this method allows seamless apps and settings-retaining upgrading or not. Is there a method for doing it (whether official or unofficial - perhaps confirmed via experience of updating with some sort of Enterprise 8.1 ISO), or is an update indeed expected for the Enterprise version via the desktop 'Windows Update' program? A further observation which may help: the page I cite refers to the 'Windows Store', which is the 'Modern UI' app store and NOT the desktop 'Windows Update' program which typically updates desktop Office and desktop Windows alike.

  Hi I would like to have a http POST request method CAPTURE filter I know it is easy to do it by display filter http.request.method==POST but I need tcpdump compatible I wrote tcp dst port 80 and (tcp[13] = 0x18) But it is not perfect... tcp dst port 80 and (tcp[((tcp[12:1] & 0xf0) 2):4] = 0x504f5354) works better, but... packages are not treated as a http packages, so I can not do my further display filters... and is there any way to not display frame, tcp, ip and http header information, only data-text-lines field value (content of POST)? or same thing in tcpdump, only dumping of POSTed html form content?

• What is a ‘best practice’ backup plan for a website?

  I have a website which is very large and has a large user-base. I am trying to think of a 'best practice' way to create a back up or mirror website, so if something happens on domain.com, I can quickly point the site to backup.domain.com via 401 redirect. This would give me time to troubleshoot domain.com while everyone is viewing backup.domain.com and not knowing the difference. Is my method the ideal method, or have you enacted better methods to creating a backup site? I don't want to have the site go down and then get yelled at every minute while I'm trying to fix it. Ideally I would just 'flip the switch' and it would redirect the user to a backup. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  I've been using Wacom tablets on Linux for quite some time, almost exclusively in Ubuntu, and in previous versions I've used xidump to track input values. I would use that information to put calibration settings in my xorg.conf file. However, in the most recent Ubuntu release, this command does not exist, and the package wacom-tools that previously installed it has now been removed. Is there a new method for calibrating Wacom pads under Linux? Should I have been using a different method all along for obtaining this information?

  Hey there, I've just moved to a new server and I can't seem to get FrontPage extensions to work with Mircosoft Expressions. I like to edit my site Live rather then local to server. But Now, when I access my domain.. eg: http://domain.com It'll come up with: Access Denied. And if I click details it returns 501 Method Not Implemented Method Not Implemented GET to / not supported. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. If I define (in .htaccess): ErrorDocument 404 /404.php The Details returns the Title and contents of 404.php. And if I define (in .htaccess): ErrorDocument 404 /404.php ErrorDocument 501 /501.php The Details return nothing. What Am I doing wrong? Thanks.

  Hi! I'm trying to compose two videos, and I'm using the alpha plug-in to make the white color transparent. To test the alpha plug-in I'm creating the pipeline with gst-launch. • Backup to Synology NAS using rsync or NFS and hardlinks

  I want to backup data from a Windows (Vista) computer to a Synology NAS (210j). The NAS supports FTP, SMB, NFS and also allows a rsync daemon to be set up. I want to backup different folders to the NAS, but I'd prefer to use the hardlink method to save diskspace (like this script does). With this method, a new folder is created for every backup, but if the file already exists on the target, only a hardlink is created. The filesystem on the Synology device is ext3, so I probably can't use rsyncbackup, as it is made for NTFS. Is there another way to do this backup with hardlink support?

  I have two running KVM guests on an Ubuntu (Lucid) host. One of them uses the simplest NAT method, and DHCP inside. The other uses the bridge method and static IP inside. Both work fine. Can I mix the networking methods? I'd like to create some set of scripts which used the local 192.168.122.x address, no matter if the guest has or not has an additional bridged LAN interface. Problem seems completely illogical to me, anyways: SBS 2011, vanilla install; haven't touched anything in IIS or Exchange outside of what's been done through the checklist (brand new domain, completely new customer) except to import an existing wildcard certificate for *.example.com (which is valid, Remote Web Workplace and Outlook Web Access work fine). On the two test machines and one production machine running a mixture of Windows XP Pro, Windows 7 and Outlook 2003 through to 2010, I've had no problem saving the password after configuring Outlook Anywhere using the wrong authentication method. I repeat, I have had no issues using the wrong authentication method on these test machines; password saves the first time, no problem, can verify it exists in the credentials manager (Start Run control userpasswords2), close Outlook, reboot, go make a sammie, come back, credentials are still saved. When I say wrong, it's because I was choosing NTLM and Exchange (under Exchange Console Server Configuration Client Access) was set by default to use Basic. On two completely different machines setup by a co-worker, they had (under my guidance) used NTLM as well... except that frustratingly, Outlook would always ask for a password. One machine was Windows XP with Outlook 2010, the other was Windows 7 with Outlook 2003. When these two machines were set to use Basic -- the correct settings -- the option to save was there and now works without issue. Puzzled by how my machines could possibly work with the wrong authentication, I then went into one of them and changed the authentication method to Basic. Now here's where it gets a little crazy: if I go under Outlook and change the authentication to use the correct setting (Basic) it fails to save the password and Outlook prompts every time (without a "remember me" checkbox). I have not had a chance to change it to Basic on the other two machines to see if this is just a fluke or not, but something just isn't right here. My two hunches are either a missing/installed KB Update or perhaps a local security policy. I should add that none of the 5 test machines in the equation here have ever been joined to the domain.

• sftp and public keys

  I am trying to sftp into an a server hosted by someone else. To make sure this worked I did the standard sftp [email protected] i was promted with the password and that worked fine. I am setting up a cron script to send a file once a week so have given them our public key which they claim to have added to their authorized_keys file. I now try sftp [email protected] again and I am still prompted for a password, but now the password doesn't work... Connecting to [email protected]... [email protected]'s password: Permission denied, please try again. [email protected]'s password: Permission denied, please try again. [email protected]'s password: Permission denied (publickey,password). Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer I did notice however that if I simply pressed enter (no password) it logged me in fine... So here are my questions: Is there a way to check what privatekey/pulbickey pair my sftp connection is using? Is it possible to specify what key pair to use? If all is setup correctly (using correct key pair and added to authorized files) why am I being asked to enter a blank password? Thanks for your help in advance!
