• URGENT: How to force a postback with asp.net and C#

  I have a demo scheduled with a client and i need a quick and dirty fix for now. I will find a more appropriate work around tomorrow but for the time being i need a way to force a post back, or refresh the page. i tried: Response.Redirect(""); but it brings me to a page that says "Object moved to here". 'here' is a hyperlink that brings me to the page with desired results but i wish to bypass this message. Any ideas. This is very urgent. Any help would be much appeciated Thanks, shawn

I am supposed to submit 2values called str and name to another page.But only 1value is getting returned in the next page.When i include name and on next page if i say print_r($_POST),then even the first value is not getting printed. I have written a fuction as follows,which works because there is only one parameter. function sendValue(str) { $.post( "newsletter/subscribe.php", //Ajax file { sendValue: str }, function(data){ $('#display').html(data.returnValue); }, "json" ); } But if i pass 2values in that function and in $.post,i do sendValue:str,name then i am not getting even 1value.   Hi, I've trying to use the draggable effect on some divs on a page, but whenever I load the page, I get the error message: Error: $(".draggable").draggable is not a function I've had a look around it seemed other people were having this problem as they had not included the jQuery UI javascript file, but I definitely have.   I'm using a button in a template field of gridview. On button click I want to redirect to another page but it throws an exception: Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" % in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. • jquery stop image slider when accordian menu is closed

  http://jsbin.com/emoba5/3/edit click here to view demo This accordion menu/image slider works well except - When the page loads and when all accordion menu items are closed I need it to show a single image on right. At the moment the page loads a blank picture area and when an accordion menu item is closed it just restarts that menu items picture slider. (So on page load and when all accordions are closed I need it default to an image on the right.) Some of the items only have 1 picture i.e. posture 3 you will notice when you click on it, it shows the image and then goes blank, can it just fade the image in and leave it there if there is only 1 image?   Hi all! I've written a PowerPoint-like application in Flash, and now our client would like to view the speaker notes (a PDF file) on a separate screen while using the application. What I would need is a separate application/html page which can show the PDF and programmatically change page when the master slide changes. Is this possible? If so, is it easiest to go with a html page + javascript or a Flex/AIR app? It needs to be done without changing the PDF's, since there are 600+ files that need to be viewable.

  I have an ASP.NET file upload control which sits as part of a form. The file upload control is on the content page while the form definition is on a master page across the site. I've added multipart/form-enc to the form on the master page. I'm using jQuery to submit the form as I show a dialog box from jQuery UI. When I post, no file is returned to the server. The file upload control has no file and HttpFileCollection is empty. How can I find the posted file?

  I'm developing a cms that allows editing everything on the page (generated server-side with a template engine) by just clicking on it — the area turns into input field, textarea or a full-featured tinyMCE editor, Template defines editable elements like "page heading", "copyright footer text", "image", "rich text block" etc. Along with that there's always a flotaing panel with several tabs, some of which contain general settings like page bacground color, font settings etc, but some are context sensitive (e.g., the clicking on "image" editable field triggers to display uploading/cropping/captioning interface in the floating panel). All settings in the panel are either simple inputs or sliders or checkboxes. I'm new to using MVC with javascript, and in fact haven't used it much before. jQuery is used as code library for the project. Should i use JavascriptMVC, SproutCore or anything else? Does any of them allow some kind of sandboxing (within bounds of commmon sense) to allow some javascript code by user-generated skins on my cms? thank you!

  I would like to know if the following is possible: As part of the PageLoad of an ASP.Net page request: Use HttpWebRequest (POST) to make a request to a forms authentication webpage of a different web application Examine the response to see if the authentication succeeded (identifiable if an authentication cookie has been set) If it fails, then finish the ASP.Net page request, which will display a message saying "couldn't auto-login" or some such thing If success, then instead of completing the ASP.Net page lifecycle, use "Response.Write" to send the response from the HttpWebRequest back to the browser (thus essentially displaying the webpage from the HttpWebRequest) If the above is possible, then, is there also a way to transfer the authentication cookie from the HttpWebResponse to the requesting browser? My gut feeling is probably not - but if this is the case, then how do proxy servers handle such things? Is that not essentially what they are doing? Thanks for any help

• Button click doesn't call function even when button attribute OnClick is set to that function

  Hi, I have an aspx page with two buttons, one of the buttons has an OnClick attribute to a function that should be run when clicked. When the other button is clicked there is an if statement checking if the page is a postback, if it is then I run some statements that need to be run when that button is clicked. That postback button works fine. However, the other button, when it's clicked the function it's supposed to call never executes, and the statements inside if (Page.IsPostBack) get executed instead. What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to make the button that calls a function not do a Post back?

  hey all, im really new to ASP.Net and still havnt got my head round most of the concepts, im really having problems with variable, when creating a desktop application, any variable created in code for example int n = 10; this variable will be there until the program is running right. but in asp iv created variables which are supposed to last until the user gets of that page, so for example say i have a page which takes the users value ( call this variable n say the user type in 10) and every time the user presses the next button the code add 10 to this value. so the first time the user presses the next button n= n + 10; what i have found is no matter how many times i press the next button n will always equal 20, because the previous value is not saved !! these values are populated the first time the user enters that page, once the user clicks the next button the content of these values disappear! how can stop this from happening ?? hope this makes sense !! thanks

• NSOutlineView not refreshing when objects added to managed object context from NSOperations

  Background Cocoa app using core data Two processes - daemon and a main UI Daemon constantly writing to a data store UI process reads from same data store NSOutlineView in UI is bound to an NSTreeController which is bound to Application with key path of delegate.interpretedMOC What I want When the UI is activated, the outline view should update with the latest data inserted by the daemon. The Problem Main Thread Approach I fetch all the entities I'm interested in, then iterate over them, doing refreshObject:mergeChanges:YES. This works OK - the items get refreshed correctly. However, this is all running on the main thread, so the UI locks up for 10-20 seconds whilst it refreshes. Fine, so let's move these refreshes to NSOperations that run in the background instead. NSOperation Multithreaded Approach As soon as I move the refreshObject:mergeChanges: call into an NSOperation, the refresh no longer works. When I add logging messages, it's clear that the new objects are loaded in by the NSOperation subclass and refreshed. Not only that, but they are What I've tried I've messed around with this for 2 days solid and tried everything I can think of. Passing objectIDs to the NSOperation to refresh instead of an entity name. Resetting the interpretedMOC at various points - after the data refresh and before the outline view reload. I'd subclassed NSOutlineView. I discarded my subclass and set the view back to being an instance of NSOutlineView, just in case there was any funny goings on here. Added a rearrangeObjects call to the NSTreeController before reloading the NSOutlineView data. Made sure I had set the staleness interval to 0 on all managed object contexts I was using. I've got a feeling this problem is somehow related to caching core data objects in memory. But I've totally exhausted all my ideas on how I get this to work. I'd be eternally grateful of any ideas anyone else has. • OnPage Load display one sentence - hide others

  Hi I have created http://techavid.com/design/test3.html and when you load the page you see there are 3 images. The sun image is focused(in color), while the others are greyed out until clicked. That is how it should be for the images. Under each image you see a sentence 1st: Sun, 2nd: Airplane & 3rd: Nano, but when page loads you see all three sentences. How to make it so when page loads the first sentence underneath the active image (sun) shows only and the others do not show, they only show when clicked (though that works just need to figure out onpage load only show "1st: Sun")? thanks :) paul J.

  This is my first question here and I hope it is simple enough to get a quick answer! Basically, I have the following code: $variable = curPageURL(); $query = 'SELECT * FROM `tablename` WHERE `columnname` LIKE '$variable' ; If I echo the $variable, it prints the current page's url( which is a javascript on my page) Ultimately, what I want, is to be able to make a search for which the search-term is the current page's url, with wildcards before and after. I am not sure if this is possible at all, or if I simply have a syntax error, because I get no errors, simply no result! I tried : $query = 'SELECT * FROM `tablename` WHERE `columnname` LIKE '"echo $variable" ' ; But again, I'm probably missing or using a misplaced ' " ; etc. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!

• Visual Studio 2008 - Focus on textbox doesn't work when run from VS2008 as admin

  This is a minor, esoteric problem and not a showstopper, but I'm wondering what other VS2008 idiosyncrasies are out there. If you make a web app, add a textbox and run a focus function for the textbox on page load, it works when you run VS not as administrator from a Vista non-administrator account or if you run the page from a browser instance run on its own, not from VS. If you browse the page from VS as Admin, the focus doesn't work. This for Cassini and from the local IIS. Stuff like this just makes me trust VS a tad less.

• Jasper Report doc export margin problem

  Hi there, Im using Jasper Reports to generate a word (docx) document but I have a problem when I want to try to print the doc. The exporter messes up the margins of the page. Does anyone know how to prevent that from happening. I know how to set the margin in iReport, but it just makes the data generate further from the page borders, but the margins in word which can be adjusted at the top of the page is laying right at the edge.   Up until now i've been dropping all my jquery code right inside the document.ready function. I'm thinking that for certain situations this isnt the best way to go. for example: If i want an animation to perform when a certain page loads what is the best way to go about that. $(document).ready(function() { $("#element_1").fadeIn(); $("#element_2").delay('100').fadeIn(); $("#element_3").delay('200').fadeIn(); }); If this is right inside of document.ready then every time ANY page loads it's going to check each line and look for that element. What is the best way to tell jquery to only perform a chunk of code on a certain page to avoid this issue.

  I've been looking at using a WebView to display an HTML5 webpage, where the novel features of the mobile device (GPS, compass, accelerometer, camera, etc) can be fed back into the web page. I was wondering if there were any good tutorials showing these functions interacting with the webview. So far I've found ways for the WebView to send javascript commands to the web page, but those interactions haven't been triggered from outside the web view (such as upon receiving an intent from the GPS or accelerometer). Note: The HTML5 Geolocation API is not what I'm interested in.   I have a HTTP server that serves only two kinds of page: about 10 KB and about 16 KB (both compressed, other files are from CDN). As the latency is quite high (ping takes more than 300 ms), I want to optimize the TCP stack so that client receives the whole page ASAP. Thus, I have a double question: Which parameter do I have to change (which value of TCP window)? How to change in (a Debian box, and FYI, there is a Varnish before the HTTP server).
