    Hi, I m opening a HttpConnection to a URL. Its working in simulator but when i try it in device, it gives "java.io.IOException: Bad DNS address" while opening the HttpConnection. I serached the forums but havent got the solution yet. That URL is opening in Blackberry device Internet Browser but not getting the HttpConnection (HttpConnection is coming NULL) when i try through my code.

  • Is there a way to get SSL certificate details using JavaScript?

    Hi all, I'd like to gather certain details of an SSL certificate on a particular web-site. I know this is straightforward using the openssl tool on Linux/MacOSX. However is the same or similar possible in JavaScript? I understand that the browser handles socket connections and that the SSL handshake occurs prior to any party sending data. However in an XMLHTTPRequest, I'd like to know if its possible to get these details as some sort of response code etc?

  • Advice on logic circuits and serial communications

    As far as I understand the serial port so far, transferring data is done over pin 3. As shown here: There are two things that make me uncomfortable about this. The first is that it seems to imply that the two connected devices agree on a signal speed and the second is that even if they are configured to run at the same speed you run into possible synchronization issues... right? Such things can be handled I suppose but it seems like there must be a simpler method. What seems like a better approach to me would be to have one of the serial port pins send a pulse that indicates that the next bit is ready to be stored. So if we're hooking these pins up to a shift register we basically have: (some pulse pin)-clk, tx-d Is this a common practice? Is there some reason not to do this? EDIT Mike shouldn't have deleted his answer. This I2C (2 pin serial) approach seems fairly close to what I did. The serial port doesn't have a clock you're right nobugz but that's basically what I've done.   • Publishing WCF .NET 3.5 to IIS 6 (Windows Server 2003)

    I've been developing a WCF web service using .NET 3.5 with IIS7 and it works perfectly on my local computer. I tried publishing it to a server running IIS 6 and even though I can view the WSDL in my browser, the client application doesn't seem to be connecting to it correctly. I launched a packet sniffing app (Charles Proxy) and the response for the first message comes back to the client empty (0 bytes). Every message after the first one times out. The WCF service is part of a larger application that uses ASP .NET 3.5. That application has been working fine on IIS 6 for awhile now so I think it's something specific to WCF. I also tried throwing an exception in the SVC file to see if it made it that far and the exception never got thrown so I have a feeling it's something more low level that's not working. Any thoughts? Is there anything I need to install on the IIS5 server? If so how am I still able to view the WSDL in my browser?     What is the best way to redirect ANY browser to a different ip for specific sites? For example if the user will type www.facebook.com in any browser he will be redirected to 127.0.0.1. Also the same should happen if he will type 66.220.146.11. What I have until now is this: using the winpkfilter I am able to intercept all the traffic on port 80, with type(in or out), source ip, destination ip and packet. My problem is to modify somehow the packet so the browser will be redirected.   • C# XMLSerializer fails with List<T>

    Help... I'm using a singleton class to save all my settings info. It's first utilized by calling Settings.ValidateSettings(@"C:\MyApp") The problem I'm having is that 'List Contacts' is causing the xmlserializer to fail to write the settings file, or to load said settings. If I comment out the List then I have no problems saving/loading the xml file. What am I doing wrong...     Hi, My android application uses an sqlite database and during first run it deletes some rows . The next time it runs it tries to do the same , but because the rows were previously deleted it fails . I use SQLite database browser to inspect the database ,after first run (when the rows are deleted) and I observe that the rows that no longer should exist are still in the database , even if ehwn running the app again those rows are no longer visible ! What is the cause for this behavior ?

    I am connecting to a web service to get some data back out as xml. When I try to load directly from the stream I get an exception, Illegal characters in path. I don't know what is going on, if I can load the same xml as a text file why can't I load it as a stream.     So I've been digging into how the stdio portion of libc is implemented and I've come across another question. Looking at man setvbuf I see the following: When the first I/O operation occurs on a file, malloc(3) is called, and a buffer is obtained. This makes sense, your program should have a malloc in it for I/O unless you actually use it. My gut reaction to this is that libc will clean up its own mess here. Which I can only assume it does because valgrind reports no memory leaks (they could of course do something dirty and not allocate it via malloc directly... but we'll assume that it literally uses malloc for now). But, you can specify your own buffer too... int main() { char *p = malloc(100); setvbuf(stdio, p, _IOFBF, 100); puts("hello world"); } Oh no, memory leak! valgrind confirms it. So it seems that whenever stdio allocates a buffer on its own, it will get deleted automatically (at the latest on program exit, but perhaps on stream close). But if you specify the buffer explicitly, then you must clean it up yourself. There is a catch though. The man page also says this: You must make sure that the space that buf points to still exists by the time stream is closed, which also happens at program termination. For example, the following is invalid: Now this is getting interesting for the standard streams. How would one properly clean up a manually allocated buffer for them, since they are closed in program termination? I could imagine a "clean this up when I close flag" inside the file struct, but it get hairy because if I read this right doing something like this: setvbuf(stdio, 0, _IOFBF, 100); printf("hello "); setvbuf(stdio, 0, _IOLBF, 100); printf("world\n"); would cause 2 allocations by the standard library because of this sentence: If the argument buf is NULL, only the mode is affected; a new buffer will be allocated on the next read or write operation.

I am able to print using WebBrowser.Print(), which shows the current context, but what ways are possible to get this saved as a PDF file locally?

    Hi I been using the jquery ui for quite a while now. This is the first time using 1.8 though and I am not sure why but it seems to me this plugin has taken steps backwards. I never had so much difficulty to use the Jquery UI as I am having now. First the documentation is out of date. Dependencies * UI Core * UI Draggable (Optional) * UI Resizable (Optional) After line 20mins of trying and getting error after error (like dialog is not a function) I realized that you need some other javascript file called "widget.js" So now I have Jquery 1.4.2.js UI Core.js UI Widget.js UI Dialog.js all on my page. After that it should put it right after my tabs. So when watching it with firebug it does this. However once does the .dialog() method it moves the + all the stuff it generates and puts it after my footer. So now I have my dialog box under my footer tucked away in the bottom right hand corner. I want it dead in the center. In previous versions I don't think it mattered where the dialog code was on your page it would always be dead center. So what am I missing? The center.js(I don't know if this exists but seems like you need 100 javascript files now to get this to work proper).

  • facebook connect box redirecting in the box not on the page

    I am working on a facebook connect application and I am just integrating facebook connect. So far, it does connect to facebook, however, it redirects to the page specified in the application settings in the dialog that appears instead of the page I was at. The dialog does not close and the page it supposedly directing to appears in the dialog box. What to do?
