  Need help Urgent!!!!! Did changes with help but still unsuccessful... I have to request location updates, but I am unsuccessful in implementing that... i modified the code but need help so that i can see the current location. • File in use when it's really not

  I am running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on a Server 2008 network. I am getting a weird issue with an excel document where I open it up one morning, update it, save and close, the next morning I come in, open it up and it says "This file is in use and locked by csmith" which "csmith" is me! So I click on the cancel button, open it up again and it comes up fine. I can edit, save and close with no problem. But then have the same issue the next morning. Another weird thing is that we have a calendar shared in "Public Folders" under Outlook that seems to be having the same issue, which happens to be a calendar made in Excel. Exchange 2010 is installed on the server and the clients are using Exchange 2007. In the instance with the calendar, it will show conflicting edits have been made and you must keep one item or all items. And it shows an edit date of 4/24/2012 and 6/1/2012. But, there were NO edits done on 6/1, just tried opening it. This problem does not occur under my profile, but 2 others. These machines are ALSO running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. We have a mix of Windows 7 and Windows XP machines on our network if that is any help. These issues did not start happening until we migrated from a server running Server 2003 and Exchange 2000, which the new server is running Server 2008 and Exchange 2010 as stated above. Is there something on the server side that is configured wrong?

  I have a comma delimited file that includes two columns date/time (which imports as Excel's mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm custom format) and status of 1 or 0. The status represents a piece of equipment either being on or off. I'm trying to generate a graph that will show, hours up vs. down by day. CONSIDER: 1/1/2012 00:00, 1 1/1/2012 03:00, 0 1/1/2012 14:00, 1 1/3/2012 00:00, 0 This tells me that the equipment was up for three hours, down for eleven hours, and then up for thirty-four hours (across two calendar days). However, I would like to generate a graph that shows how many hours PER DAY we were up or down. CONSIDER: 1/1 XXXXXXXXXXXXX----------- (up 13, down 11) 1/2 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (up 24) To me, it seems that I need to generate a dataset summing HOURS by STATUS by CALENDAR DAY...but I can't seem to find a flavor of pivot table or nested SUM(IF(SUMIF(...))) combination to make it work. Most troubling is accounting for date changes...in my example above, since my uptime starting at 14:00 on 1/1/2012 crosses midnight, I need to know that 10 uptime hours get totalled with 1/1/2012 and 24 uptime hours get totalled with 1/2/2012. I may be able to do something with a calendar list to drive the date summation, but then I need a way to compare 01/01/2012 to 01/01/2012 03:00 as equal. There's got to be a way along the lines of if(INTEGER-PORTIONS-OF-SERIAL-DATES-ARE-EQUAL,TOTAL-HOURS-IF-VALUE-IS_1,0) but nothing's worked so far. Any suggestions? I've been battling this most of the day, and need a fresh perspective. Thanks

• Sync Local ICS File with Android via Exchange/Outlook

  At my company we have a 3rd party app which tracks off-hours duty for all of our engineers. The app is not web-enabled and we cannot make any changes to it. It does write a simple text file and I have created an app that translates that to an ICS file. My goal is to have that appear on my calendar on my Android phone. Here is the path I am working on: DutyApp -- TextFile -- ICSFile -- Outlook(exchange) -- Android (via exchange sync) My problems: If I place the ICS file on our FILE server and then in Outlook if I go to the option CalendarOpen CalendarFrom Internet it shows up in Outlook and looks pretty good. After a couple minutes it shows up on my Android phone as well. If I change the original ICS file those changes never display in Outlook and never sync to my Android phone. This seems to be a one shot deal almost like an import. Now if I place the ICS file on our WEB server and then in Outlook if I go to the option CalendarOpen CalendarFrom Internet and use webcal:\ as the address, it shows up in Outlook and also looks pretty good. Any changes I make to the original ICS file display in Outlook. However the entire calendar never shows up in Android. This calendar is a subscription and it seems, although am not sure, that Android doesn't display Exchange subscription calendars. Yes I know it works with Gmail subscription calendars but this is Exchange. So my question is what other options are there? We are behind a firewall so cant link the ICS file to a Gmail account. I can't put the ICS file anywhere else other than our file or web server.

• Online Accounts auth over and over again without success

  I just added my Google account to the "Online Accounts" in Gnome. Before my last restart the account couldn't be added for unknown reason. I authorized Gnome access to my Google Account, the window closed and nothing happened. Now I authorized Ubuntu access to my Google Account which worked well: But I can not open the Gnome Online Accounts even when I delete every online account: It's icon show up that it is loading in the dash but then suddenly disappears without any message. How to debug that? What can I do?

• How can I find the approximate daily traffic of a site which I don't own?

  I want to find the approximate daily traffic of a site which isn't ours, and the site is located in other country than US (in Greece - hence no Quantcast or Compete.com afaik) and it doesn't use Google Ads (hence no Google Ad Planner). I know about Alexa but the site(s) has/have relatively low traffic and the Alexa's rank isn't very useful (same stands to Google Trends). Or perhaps I should look more at Alexa's data? Any other ideas? PS: I looked before posting here and here. No luck.

• How Does One Make a Sitemap for a Flex Website?

  Hi, I've got a Flex website and I'm not sure how to make a sitemap for it. For a standard HTML page, sitemaps are straight forward. As Flex sites use a "pageless" architecture, I'm not sure what I should do. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. UPDATE: As I understand it, Google doesn't look at anything after the # in a URL. So in a deeplinked Flex site, Google wouldn't see the second page-- where it reads view=12 in the sample sitemap below. Or does Google handle sitemaps differently? Are coming out the same as these: findBy and groovy I have had this problem before when I didn't know the name of the elvis operator, and countless other times (probably happened first time I saw an infix '%' mod too if I had to guess). Is there a resource for syntax sugar lookups? Some way to force google or a different search engine to not ignore my funky punctuation?

• Lynx "Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host."

  I'm pretty new to Ubuntu server. I'm running Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS Release: 12.04 I have installed Lynx via sudo apt-get install lynx everything installed fine but when I try to connect to a website it just seems to time out. When I run lynx google.com it goes to a blank screen with a blue line at the bottom. There is yellow text on the line which says "Making HTTP connection to google.com" but it just sits there. Eventually after 5 - 6 minutes it just goes back to the normal terminal window If I run the below on its own lynx I get the same blue line with the same text "Making HTTP connection to google.com" but after 30 seconds or so it briefly turns to a red line with "alert!: lynx unable to connect to remote host" written on it. I have installed lynx locally and it works fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Is it true that quickly closing a webpage opened from a search engine result can hurt the site's ranking?

  My web designer recently told me that I need to be careful not to Google for my business' website, click on its search result link, then quickly close the page (or click back) too many times. He says "Google knows" that I didn't stay on the page, and could penalize my site for having a high click-through rate if it happens too much (it was something along those lines- I forget the exact wording). Apparently, it could look like the behavior of a visitor who was not interested in what they found (hence the alleged detrimental effect on the site's search ranking). This sounds hard to believe to me because I would not have thought any information is transmitted which tells Google (or anyone, for that matter) whether or not a website is still open in a browser (in my case Firefox v25.0). Could there possibly be any truth to this? If not, why might he have come to this conclusion? Is there some click-tracking or similar technology employed by search engines which does something similar? Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

First of all this is my "architecture": Domain registration at GoDaddy.com Hosting at Dreamhost mail at google apps Until now I setted up the google apps MX entries in my domain through the GoDaddy manager, but now what I want is to set up the hosting I have hired from Dreamhost. I understand that all I have to do is to setup next Dreamhost NS entries into the GoDaddy domain manager: NS1.Dreamhost.COM. 66.33.206.206 NS2.Dreamhost.COM. 208.96.10.221 NS3.Dreamhost.COM. 66.33.216.216 My question is, will my mail keep working right as soon as the MX entries I already setup into the GoDaddy are the Google Apps ones?

  Apple takes 30% of revenue from app sales on the iPhone app store. Now Apple does the same with the Mac app store. Google also takes a 30% cut in the Android Market. These seem pretty steep. What percentage do you think would be fair and good for both you as a developer/vendor and Apple/Google? What's a happier middle ground? 20%? If the answer you give is less than 30% but you are selling apps in the app store or android market, please explain why you are willing to, and what benefits Apple and Google would see from reducing their cuts.

• How to publish paid Android apps if you're not from US/UK

  I was pretty excited while creating one of my apps but as it turns out you can't actually sign up for Google Checkout if you don't live either in the USA or in the UK. And since Google Checkout is the only way Android Market will pay you, all my efforts seem to be going in vain. So because I live in India, I can't sell my apps. I tried contacting Google by various means on this, but haven't got any response so far. I tried searching the web as well just to find out that one can't be paid via any other way. I am pretty sure that many people here might have gone through the same problem. How did you solve it? I have a PayPal account and an AdSense account as well. Can they help in any way? And if nothing works out, how am I supposed to be selling my app?

• Problem with homepage's SEO when using subfolders in a multi language website

  After watching a hundreds of threads about multilanguage website I haven't found an answer to my specific problem, so I think its not a common issue and I must have done something terribly wrong ;-) We have a brand.com website in DE main language and the following subfolders: /de/ = canonical of / + redirect to / /it/ /en/ When I crawl google.com for EN keywords or google.it for IT keywords then I get as results the homepage in German language (both title and description) as the top result with no trace of the /it/ or the /en/ homepage. Is this because /it/ and /en/ both needs a separate link building strategy? I've already configured Google webmaster tool into the following way: brand.com, no language preference brand.com/de/, de language brand.com/it/, it language brand.com/en/, en language Perhaps having "/" as DE main page is it wrong and I should use a different approach? i.e. like having "/" to be a 301 to /de/ instead ? • Increase traffic to a site through a site on subdomain [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Subdomain versus subdirectory We have two sites, one is mainly a portfolio site (built with Yii framework) and the other is a digital shop (built with open cart) where we sell plugins and themes. The url's look like www.mydomian.com and www.store.mydomain.com. But of these sites are in the same server. We use google analytics tools and have no problem getting traffic to our store. But we have very little to our portfolio site and we want to increase our Google ranking for this site. Assuming increased traffic to our site will increase our google ranking, we were thinking to use URl masking so the link will be www.mydomain.com/shop and this will load www.store.mydomain.com. Will this count as hits for our portfolio site? Because the .htaccess rules will ensure the subdomain is served. So I dont know if these hits will count on our store or our portfolio site...

• Anti aliasing problem

  I am auditioning fonts on google web fonts and one that I was discounting was Ubuntu because it looked a bit jagged ( screenshot below taken straight from google); however afterward I read an article where it was mentioned as a good choice, and there was a screenshot where it looked really good ( to me anyway ). I am using windows 7 and have tried looking at it in chrome and firefox. I notice the same thing with some other fonts but this one is a good example because it looks perfect in the screenshot but not so good when I look at it on their site. I know this essentially is a question about setting my computer, but I thought that this would be the best place to pose the question: Is there something wrong with the settings on my machine seeing as it's obviously not showing the font the same on my computer as it did when the article writer downloaded it and used it in an image. • SEO Question - allintitle with or without quotes

  I'm trying to learn more about implementing basic SEO strategies and have been spending a lot of time refining my keywords using Google Analytics combined with manually checking them using Google's allintitle operator. However, I'm unclear on whether I should be using quotes with my allintitles. Example: allintitle: seo tips and tricks for beginners 191 results allintitle: "seo tips and tricks for beginners" 70 results My thought is that it would be more accurate to use it without quotes because that way you get a more well rounded idea of all those you are competing with. So, my question is does Google give more weight to exact matches in the title tag or does that not really matter? If someone searched for: seo tips and tricks for beginners, would they be more likely to see the ones that have that exact phrase in their title tag or does that not have any impact?
