• CoreFoundation Lite on Linux and Android

  I would like to use Apple's CoreFoundation library on linux and android. The source code is available here, but there is very little documentation on how to build it on Linux. As far as I could figure out, building is done through a script called BuildCFLite. I grepped for DEPLOYMENT_TARGET ./CFUtilities.c:#if DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_MACOSX || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_EMBEDDED || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_LINUX || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_FREEBSD and Linux seems to be supported at first site by setting -DDEPLOYMENT_TARGET_LINUX, but some of the compiler flags in that script are not available on linux, so when I try to build I get an error. Does anybody have experience building the latest version of CoreFoundation for Linux? Also what are the dependencies for building CoreFoundation? Would it be feasible to use it in the Android NDK?

  Hi, I am working on an ASP.NET website which uses forms authentication with a custom authentication mechanism (which sets e.Authenticated programmatically on protected void Login_Authenticate(object sender, AuthenticateEventArgs e)). I have an ASP.NET sitemap. Some elements must be displayed only to logged in users. Others must be displayed only to one, unique user (ie. administrator, identified by a user name which will never change). What I want to avoid: Set a custom role provider: too much code to write for a such basic thing, Transform the existing code, for example by removing sitemap and replacing it by a code-behind solution. What I want to do: A pure code-behind solution which will let me assign roles on authenticate event. Is it possible? How? If not, is there an easy-to-do workaround?

• How to get rid of gap when I add my custom UIViewController to window?

  I'm getting this gap at the bottom of my window after I add the view of a custom UIViewController. The gap goes away as the view is shifted down after I move to another view and then back. • How to disable other touch gestures after adding another tap gesture to the view?

  I have a view with some tables and buttons on it, and then I want to add a tap gesture to the entire view, but I only want that gesture recognizer to recognize taps. Ideally, I want to do something when the added gesture recognizer is tapped, then remove that gesture recognizer after so the other buttons and tables can be accessed. Basically a tap to dismiss functionality that replicates something like the facebook notifications window, tap outside to dismiss, but not interfere with the buttons outside of the notifications view. Can anybody help? • Drupal - Counting data in nodes, creating custom statistics

  Hiya, I'm building some custom content types to capture customer data on a website. Admins will enter the data, users will be able to view it, but I also need to be able to bolt on some statistics and infographics to the data. The problem I have is that I can't see any simple way of doing this within Drupal. Are there modules which can produce simple stats on selected node types or will I have to write a complete custom module using the data abstraction layer? Thanks for any insights!

• Dynamically showing fields to a Dev Express Grid view on windows form

  In one of windows application in C# , I am using Dev Express Grid view control to bind some data and display it to user. I have custom business objects with properties defined for this purpose.Then I simple set the DataSource of the grid to the list of my custom business objects. A while ago , there came a requirement which means that the columns to be displayed on to the grid will be dynamic. This means I cannot know at design time which fields I will need to display. I was thinking of abandoning setting the DataSource and populating the grid manually by code. But I think this will cause many of the grid's features not to work properly, for example , grouping the data by drag n drop of fields to the header area etc. Is there any way to tell a grid at runtime to skip certain fields from a list of BO's when databinding to the grid ?

• uiview's controls unresponsive.. or how to foul up a view hierarchy

  Hello all, I'm working on an app that has two sections, a config section and a results section. My config section needs to be 2 separate views (horizontal and vert, and yes, I can hear the intake of breath from here), with one rotatable view for the results. b/c of layout restraints and a lot of pain around rotation, I'm not using a navigation controller. I've been experiencing the joys of rotation experimentation and have settled upon keeping my views contained as subviews of my view controller. i.e. view controller.view.subviews = configH, configV, and results. I then use the controller.view bringSubviewToFront to bring the either the configH, configV, or the result view to the front. Rotation works-queue(humor intended) the angelic choirs... almost. What's happening is that my configV button's are responsive, but when the device (or simulator) is rotated, my configH controls are not. (configV is the second subview added, but the first one to be brought to the front because app comes up in portrait mode) The controls on the results view also work. Plan B was to assign the controller.view to configH, configV, or results. All of my controls now work, but rotation is now fouled up. Question 1: Is there a better way to do this? (a horizontal and vertical config view and a rotatable results view) Question 2: Does the above suggest a design issue, or is it more likely that my addled brain is just missing something in my own code. • Decoupling the view, presentation and ASP.NET Web Forms

  I have an ASP.NET Web Forms page which the presenter needs to populate with controls. This interaction is somewhat sensitive to the page-life cycle and I was wondering if there's a trick to it, that I don't know about. I wanna be practical about the whole thing but not compromise testability. Currently I have this: public interface ISomeContract { void InstantiateIn(System.Web.UI.Control container); } This contract has a dependency on System.Web.UI.Control and I need that to be able to do things with the ASP.NET Web Forms programming model. But neither the view nor the presenter may have knowledge about ASP.NET server controls. How do I get around this? How can I work with the ASP.NET Web Forms programming model in my concrete views without taking a System.Web.UI.Control dependency in my contract assemblies? To clarify things a bit, this type of interface is all about UI composition (using MEF). It's known through-out the framework but it's really only called from within the concrete view. The concrete view is still the only thing that knows about ASP.NET Web Forms. However those public methods that say InstantiateIn(System.Web.UI.Control) exists in my contract assemblies and that implies a dependency on ASP.NET Web Forms. I've been thinking about some double dispatch mechanism or even visitor pattern to try and work around this.

• Internet Explorer buggy when accessing a custom weblogic provider

  I've created a custom Weblogic Security Authentication Provider on version 10.3 that includes a custom login module to validate users. As part of the provider, I've implemented the ServletAuthenticationFilter and added one filter. The filter acts as a common log on page for all the applications within the domain. When we access any secured URLs by entering them in the address bar, this works fine in IE and Firefox. But when we bookmark the link in IE an odd thing happens. If I click the bookmark, you will see our log on page, then after you've successfully logged into the system the basic auth page will display, even though the user is already authenticated. This never happens in Firefox, only IE. It's also intermittent. 1 time out of 5 IE will correctly redirect and not show the basic auth window. Firefox and Opera will correctly redirect everytime. We've captured the response headers and compared the success and failures, they are identical. final boolean isAuthenticated = authenticateUser(userName, password, req); // Send user on to the original URL if (isAuthenticated) { res.sendRedirect(targetURL); return; } As you can see, once the user is authenticated I do a redirect to the original URL. Is there a step I'm missing? I have tested against IE 6 & 8 and deployed the custom provider on 3 different environments and I can still reproduce the bug.

• Checking for nil in view in Ruby on Rails

  I've been working with Rails for a while now and one thing I find myself constantly doing is checking to see if some attribute or object is nil in my view code before I display it. I'm starting to wonder if this is always the best idea. My rationale so far has been that since my application(s) rely on user input unexpected things can occur. If I've learned one thing from programming in general it's that users inputting things the programmer didn't think of is one of the biggest sources of run-time errors. By checking for nil values I'm hoping to sidestep that and have my views gracefully handle the problem. The thing is though I typically for various reasons have similar nil or invalid value checks in either my model or controller code. I wouldn't call it code duplication in the strictest sense, but it just doesn't seem very DRY. If I've already checked for nil objects in my controller is it okay if my view just assumes the object truly isn't nil? For attributes that can be nil that are displayed it makes sense to me to check every time, but for the objects themselves I'm not sure what is the best practice. • Using custom scrollbar on jquery lightbox

  Hi, I need to use a custom scrollbar on jquery lightbox. My requirement is that when user clicks on a link then a popup appears and the popup contains 2 or 3 tabs, user can click on any tab to see it's content. In one of those tabs I need scrollbar to show huge content but the scrollbar should not be default it should be custom with any color. Currently I am using "JQuery's JScrollPane" plugin http://jscrollpane.kelvinluck.com to achieve the functionality, but this is not working on IE 6,7 and 8, mean scrollbar does not appear on IE. It works fine on Firefox and Chrome. Note: the same plugin works fine on IE also when I use it on page's element which is available while page load but not while the element is shown dynamically on lightbox. Thanks

And even better, when I turn on the connection again (by pressing F8), I test again the type of connection, Toast messages are shown but this time Log messages don't work. Problems happend when I press F8. Anyway, I think I miss something with broadcast receivers, it's not totally clear. Please help me.

  I have an application where you can click on a button, this takes you to a new activity with four new buttons, listen, bio, ringtone, and watch. Question is, how do i do this? I was figuring if there was a way to change the ContentView after the video is displayed back to the main one for the four button page but could not figure it out. When I press the backbutton on the device, it takes me two levels up to the main selection activity not the four button activity. I hope this was somewhat clear. Thanks for any help.

• Custom dropdown for CComboBox

  I'm trying to create a custom dropdown for a derivative of CComboBox. The dropdown will be a calendar control plus some 'hotspots', e.g. So I figure the best way to achieve this is to have a simple CWnd-derived class which acts as the parent to the calendar control, and have it paint the hotspots itself. The window needs to be a popup window - I think - rather than a child window so that it isn't clipped. But doing this causes the dialog (on which the combobox control is placed) to stop being the topmost (foreground?) window, leading to its frame being drawn differently: This spoils the illusion that the dropdown is part of the combobox since its acting more like a modal dialog at this point. Any suggestions on how I make the custom dropdown behave like the regular dropdown? Are there any other pitfalls I need to watch out for, e.g. focus and mouse capture issues?

  I am very new to this and am trying to learn by creating a few little apps for myself. I have a navigation-based app where the user taps the row to select a film title - i then want the second view to show details of the film. Thanks to a very helpful person here i am getting the results of the row pressed as 'rowTitle' as follows : (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSString *key = [keys objectAtIndex:indexPath.section]; NSArray *nameSection = [names objectForKey:key]; NSString *rowTitle = [nameSection objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSLog(@"rowTitle = %@", rowTitle); [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; I am, however, struggling to make the data at 'rowTitle' available to the 2nd view - basically, if i can get the info - for example rowTitle is "aliens2" - i want to be able to add a new extension to the end of the string returned by 'rowTitle' in order to point to an image (if that makes sense) in the second view... something like tempImageName=[** this is where the info from rowTitle needs to be i suppose**]; tempImageType=@".png"; finalImageName=[tempImageName stringByAppendingString:tempImageType]; does this make sense to anyone (apologies if it doesnt - i know what i want but how to explain it is a little more awkward!) • Caching for a Custom Repositiory Adapter for WebSphere Portal Virtual Member Manager

  I'm looking at writing a custom repository adapter to interact with Virtual Member Manager on WebSphere Portal 6.1. Basically, its a layer that takes a request in the form of a commonj.sco.DataObject and passes that on to an external web service, to get various information on our logged in users that is not otherwise available in LDAP. I'm concerned about the performance hit of going to a service every time we want to pull some permission from the back end. My question is, can the Virtual Member Manager handle caching of data going in and out of the custom repository adapters, or is that something I'm going to have to build into the adapter myself?

If I remove the custom route, it calls my function, but what I want to be displayed in the address bar is: localhost:xxxx/Wizard/1 where the number at the end is the page (div shown) of the wizard either 1, 2, 3, or 4. So is there something I'm missing or can it not be done? Thanks.

  Hi All, I have created a Custom C# Project Template for Visual Studio 2008. It works perfect. Only issue is that i have to place the zip file for the project template under the "C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual C#" Now as this folder is specific to each user on the machine, I will have to make sure that all the users on the machine has the project template installed seperately. Is there any way I can just install it once and all the users can get this project template. In short can I change the Custom Project template Install directory?

  At work we currently have a custom in-house built winforms app for the business users to view reports. It has role-based security and several administrator functions. My boss is thinking about getting me to port this app to webforms. My question is, are there options other than custom built winforms and webforms apps for deploying/viewing/administrating Crystal Reports at an enterprise level (role-based security, easy report deployment, etc)? I'm thinking about third-party packages or perhaps applications provided by Microsoft/Business Objects/SAP? We are using Crystal Reports 11.5.

• MySQL default value based on view

  Basically I have a bunch of views based on a simple discriminator column (eg. CREATE VIEW tablename AS SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE discrcolumn = "discriminator value"). Upon inserting a new row into this view, it should insert "discriminator value" into discrcolumn. I tried this, but apparently MySQL doesn't figure this out itself, as it throws an error "Field of view viewname underlying table does not have a default value". The discriminator column is set to NOT NULL of course. How do I mend this? Perhaps a pre-insert trigger? UPDATE: Triggers won't work on views, see below comment. Would it work to create a trigger on the table which uses a variable, and set that variable at establishing the connection? For each connection the value of that variable would be the same, but it could differ from other connections. EDIT: This appears to work... Setup: CREATE TRIGGER insert_[tablename] BEFORE INSERT ON [tablename] FOR EACH ROW SET NEW.[discrcolumn] = @variable Runtime: SET @variable = [descrvalue]; INSERT INTO [viewname] ([columnlist]) VALUES ([values]);

• adding custom fields dynamically to a model

  I have a model called List which has many records: class List has_many :records end class Record end The table Record has 2 permanent fields: name, email. Besides these 2 fields, for each List a Record can have 'n' custom fields. For example: for list1 I add address(text), dob(date) as custom fields. Then while adding records to list one, each record can have values for address and dob. Is there any ActiveRecord plugin which provides this type of functionality? Or else could you share your thoughts on how to model this? Thanks in advance, Pankaj
