• Apache timeouts and error log

  I have an error whenever I run my code for a certain time. I use a lot of loops and sql connections. I basically, put and take out links from my database. The problem is that there is some error thrown that I cant see, whenever I execute a long sql operation .. Note that the fault isnt the code. The code runs well, whenever there are a few links involved. But when there are over 200 links.. an error is thrown that I cants see. I tried to trace the error in a few places: C:\Program Files\Zend\ZendServer\logs\php_error.log C:\Program Files\Zend\phpMyAdmin\config.inc.php Edit Viewer in win xp I am running XP: Windows xp php version: 5.3.9-ZS5.6.0. Apache/2.2.21 Apacher version: (Win32) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/0.9.8o I cant trace the error at all, and why it happens. All I can suspect of, is that there is a server timeout..

• Previous Versions delayed with SBS 2008 / Windows 7

  The SBS 2008 at this site has Previous Versions enabled on a mapped drive. The snapshots happen 3 times a day. I doubt they take very long; the diff size is only a few GB. The problem is that the users on Windows 7 cannot see their previous versions until a few hours later. Is there some indexing that has to happen before the Previous Versions are visible to the client machines? Edit: In the application log, 3 minutes after every scheduled backup, there is an event for VSS (EventID 8224) saying "The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout" Apparently this means it has finished successfully, even though modified files still do not show another version.

• Remote connect to mysql server?

  I've been trying to figure out why I keep getting this error when I try to connect to the MySQL server with the following commands. $~ mysql -u username -h SQLserver -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'username'@'myIP' (using password: YES) I've done the following: Port is open in the firewall other wise I wouldn't get the error it'd just timeout. MySQL server not running with skip-networking or bind-address username has host as '%' and I can connect locally so the password is correct. • Is it possible (and how if it is) dump two concatenaded disks in a new disk using DD?

  Hi, I have a Lacie enclosure that has a setup with 2 500gb disks configured as 1 drive of 1TB, the only partition created for the whole drive is HFS+ journaled, but the controller in the enclosure is gone and so the drive refuses to mount anymore. I have been able to remove those two disks from the enclosure and connect them using USB ports and a program called R-studio (Raid recovery program) check that the setup the controller in the enclosure was using was both disks concatenated (Not Striped). And so configuring that option in R-studio I could be able to get back all the information. But before I got a license for r-studio for just one use, I would rather buying a new 1TB disk and try to write all the information of those two disks in this new one. I can use Mac or linux machines to do it, and I think it should be ok use DD command in linux to concatenate those two drives into the new one in the right order to get it working again in the new disk and I will reformat the old ones, but I am not sure. So, is it possible in this scenario to write both disks into a new one using DD? Any hints how the command would look? Thanks,

• Iptables and system-config-firewall

  I had a set of netfilter rules set with iptables, but someone else told me to use system-config-firewall to add a rule for sharing files with Windows. (Samba) This rewrote the iptables rules file and I lost my own custom rules. I have a backup copy, but am having trouble restoring them. Edit: The server is Centos, I already tried to restore the rules with iptables-restore < /root/working.iptables.rules but for some reason the rules don't change. What are you trying to do? Trying to restore the iptable rules that I have in a backup file. What have you tried in order to make it happen? I've tried to modify the iptables file with vim, since the command iptables-restore was no help. What results did you expect? To get the old rules back. What actually happened? Nothing, when I run the command or edit the file by hand the file doesn't change at all. Maybe something else it's overwriting.

• Installing Debian 7.6.0 on Lenovo Y50

  I was trying to install Debian on my new laptop: a Lenovo Y50 64bit running Windows 8. I got together with a friend and installed Debian in his computer first and had no problems. However I've tried to install Debian several times using the AMD64 KDE and netinst versions and accomplished nothing. First try: installed the KDE version. Grub would let me choose which operating system I wanted, but when I selected Debian it would only load the command line. Second try: Reinstalled but this time with the netinst version. I only got a black screen where I could type but nothing else. Third Try. Tried the netinst again. This time after making the partitions I got a message that said that no EFI partition was found. I ignored the message and this time it wouldn't even load Grub. only a command like interface with grub rescue or something. Not once did I get an error during the installation. What am I doing wrong? I assume the problem is I need to make an EFI partition or something like that. So why is it that during the first installations I didn't ask me for that. And if that is indeed the problem, How can I solve it? Update So the installation failed again... as predicted.   I have a OpenVZ VPS running CentOS 6.3 64 bit and when I try to install JRE 7 64bit using the command: rpm -Uvh java.rpm It gives me this error: Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:jre ########################################### [100%] Unpacking JAR files... rt.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/rt.pack jsse.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/jsse.pack charsets.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/charsets.pack localedata.jar... Error: Could not open input file: /usr/java/jre1.7.0_09/lib/ext/localedata.pack I then tried the command: java -version And it gives me this error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit. Why does this happen if I have more than enough RAM on the VPS to run this (1GB)? Could it be an issue with the host node of the VPS? • Can I remove the original file while running "sort"?

  I'm sorting a huge file, around 400 gigabytes. I'm running out of the disk space and I must do something quickly. Let's assume the original file is called original_file. So I execute (simplified) it as "sort original_file | gzip -c output_file" I use /home/tmp as a temporary dir. From what I see, there are a lot of intermediate files, like so: tmpA465 tmpB154 ... and so on. The smallest ones have size 12 megabytes. The largest have ~182 megabytes. So, it seems that the "sort" command have already split the original file into small pieces, and have sorted them, and now it is merging them into bigger parts (which will be, eventually, sorted as well). Please correct me if I'm wrong. Can I remove the original file right now without terminating the sort process? I've been waiting for a few days for that and it's important that the "sort" command will not fail and I will get the result file, finally. The OS is Ubuntu server 13.04, x64. Thanks!

• Apache Connection vs. Request

  I apologize in advance if this is a basic question, but I am quite confused after reading the Apache documentation and other tutorials. Does a single Apache prefork process serve all HTTP requests for a given client? That's what I thought, but when I reduce maxclients down to a low number, my page load times go to a crawl. This despite the fact I'm the only client on the server in question. This would suggest each process serves a single HTTP request at a time, rather than serving all requests within the TimeOut window. So if a single webpage requires 15 HTTP requests to load fully, do I require 15 prefork Apache processes to optimally serve it?

• Copy past speed very slow for a large number of files on Windows [closed]

  I've run the following test I've created a folder containing 15'000 files of 400 bytes using this batch : @ECHO off SET times=15000 FOR /L %%i IN (1,1,%times%) DO ( fsutil file createnew filename%%i.txt 400 ) then I copy past it on my Windows Computer using this command : robocopy LargeNumberOfFiles\ LargeNumberOfFiles2\ After it has completed I can see that the transfer rate was 915810 Bytes/sec this is less than 1 MB/s. It took me several seconds to copy 7 MBytes Please note that this is very slow. I've tried the same with a folder with a single file of 50 Mbytes and the transfer rate is 1219512195 Bytes/sec. (yeah GB/s) instantaneous. Why copying large number of files take so much time - ressources on a windows filesystem ? Please note that I've tried to do the same on a linux system which runs on the same computer in a virtual machine (vmware player) with ext3 filesystem. I use the cp command and the copy is instantaneous ! Please also note the following : no antivirus I've tested that behaviour on multiple windows computers (always ntfs) i always get comparable results (transfer rate under 1MB/s avg 7-8 seconds to copy 7 MBytes) I've tested on multiple linux ext3 system the copy is always instantaneous for that amount (15000 files of 400 bytes) The question is about understanding what makes windows filesystem so slow to copy large number of files compared to a linux one for instance.

• nagios service check

  I am new to nagios and we have a small issue I need to ask assistance with. Many of the machines that we monitor can go unresponsive for a bit when some very intensive cpu tasks are run. This makes nagios send warnings and alerts while these hosts are busy reporting things like 'ping timeout' or 'zombie processes' and even swap space warnings, but in actuality there is not a problem. Is there a way to configure nagios to not send such alerts, but check x number of times over a period of time and only then send an alert at the end of that time if the server in question has not recovered?. Looking at the commands.cfg file, I see entries like this: define command{ command_name check_local_swap command_line $USER1$/check_swap -w $ARG1$ -c $ARG2$ } How could I modify this example to accomplish what I want above. • all USB "randomly" disconnect and reconnect

  I'm having a weird issue currently: at seemingly random times(although it seems to happen mostly when USB is used a lot, ie downloading + uploading over my WiFi stick or viewing an HD video from my external hard-drive) all my USB devices disconnect and reconnect after a few seconds. This wouldn't be a HUGE problem if I didn't have to rely on my USB for my internet, because now every time this happens my internet, and with it stuff like remote desktop, crashes. I'm running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit with a Gigabyte 990FXA-D3 motherboard. Now the weird thing: I had the same problem with my previous pc, which had a different motherboard(I think it was an Asus M4A785TD-V EVO). I googled a bit and didn't really find anything about this, only found out I could check if something shows up in the Event Viewer, and I get this error there when the USB crashes: "A timeout occurred while waiting for the EHCI host controller Interrupt on Async Advance Doorbell response." If you require any extra information I'm happy to provide it.

• Recommend a desktop app to monitor port 80 on servers

  Hello, I did some googling but was unsuccessful, so I am posting here. I am looking to get an app (preferably free/open source) to monitor my servers on port 80 that would send me an email/text when some predefined timeout triggers. I could probably write something in VB to do this but i am burried with projects, why reinvent the wheel. I know there are services out there that want you to pay $5/month to do so, I was thinking about a Windows app that would sit on my computer and simply monitor predefined list of IPs on port 80. • How to tell Seam to inject a local EJB interface (SLSB) and not the remote EJB interface (SLSB)?

  Hello, I am using Seam with JBoss AS. In my application I have a SLSB which is also declared as a seam component using the @Name annotation. I am trying to inject and use this SLSB in another seam component using the @In annotation. My problem is that sometimes Seam injects the local interface (then the code runs fine) and sometimes seam injects the remote interface (then there is an error in execution of the code). I have tried doing all the things specified on this link: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.2.0.GA/reference/en-US/html/configuration.html#config.integration.ejb.container The SeamInterceptor is configured, I have specified the jndi pattern in components.xml file ( < core:init debug="true" jndi-pattern="earName/#{ejbName}/local"/ ), I have also tried using the @JndiName("earName/ejbName/local") annotation for every SLSB, I have tried setting this property ( org.jboss.seam.core.init.jndiPattern=earName/#{ejbName}/local ) in the seam.properties file. I have also tried putting the text below in web.xml file <context-param> <param-name>org.jboss.seam.core.init.jndiPattern</param-name> <param-value>earName/#{ejbName}/local</param-value> </context-param> Even after doing all the above mentioned things, the seam still injects the remote interface sometimes. Am I missing something here? Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue and tell seam to always inject the local interface? • Partial Trust in WPF 4

  I've started a new project in WPF 4 (.NET 4) and trying to see if I can run it in xbap mode. I need to run the application in Full Trust with the new mode made available in .NET 4 which asks the end user if the full trust application should be run. • Application stopped unexpectedly at launch

• mootools slideshow not working with JQuery. Need help !

  I am working on a site http://tapasya.co.in where i just impemented mootools slideshow. But I noticed that menubar that i was using stopped working, it was supposed to drop horizontaly but it is not being displayed now. I have used jquery for it. Please see the source of the web page. What can be the problem ? Mootools conflicting with javascript or some other problem.   Hey, I have a few classes set up for a game, with XMapObject as the base, and XEntity, XEnviron, and XItem inheriting it. MapObjects have a number of flags, one of them being MAPOBJECT_SOLID. My problem is, that XEntity is the only class that correctly detects MAPOBJECT_SOLID. Both Items are Environs are always considered solid by the game, regardless of the flag's state. What is important, is that Environs and Item should almost never be solid. • $.noConflict() not working with mootools slide show. Need help !

  I am working on a site http://tapasya.co.in where i just impemented mootools slideshow. But I noticed that menubar that i was using stopped working, it was supposed to drop horizontaly but it is not being displayed now. I have used jquery for it. Please see the source of the web page. What can be the problem ? Mootools conflicting with javascript or some other problem. • Inherited variables are not reading correctly when using bitwise comparisons

  Hey, I have a few classes set up for a game, with XMapObject as the base, and XEntity, XEnviron, and XItem inheriting it. MapObjects have a number of flags, one of them being MAPOBJECT_SOLID. My problem is that XEntity is the only class that correctly detects MAPOBJECT_SOLID. Both Items are Environs are always considered solid by the game, regardless of the flag's state. What is important is that Environs and Item should almost never be solid. • Tridion New UI Preview Site is not reflecting with the changes unless pulished

  I have new UI setup and noticing that when ever I update a page it is not refreshing with the updated changes. I do not see either the page_{sessionId/GUID}.aspx created either. Checked the session preview DB and I see the changes in PAGE_CONTENT table with new rendered content, so seems like session preview is working fine but the Preview site is not able to get the changes and refresh the UI. I have checked all the preview handlers and mappings for .aspx and made sure they are correct in web.config. Any thoughts on why the preview site not showing up the changes?
