• Howto return to virtual machine when remote desktop hangs?

  I'm using a vmware virtual machine running ubuntu linux and from there I connect to a Windows XP machine using rdesktop through a VPN tunnel. This configuration is given and cannot be changed. From time to time my internet connection does a reconnect. Then the running rdesktop (running in fullscreen mode) process freezes and isn't usable anymore. Now I want to return to the underlying linux and restart the rdesktop process. But I'm not able to get out of fullscreen rdesktop mode and so I cannot access the ubuntu desktop to kill any process. My solution is to reboot the vmware and start the rdesktop again. Is there a better way to get the configuration running again after a freeze? EDIT: I have no admin rights for the linux system. Everything must be done with user rights.

  Hi, I have Configure VPN Server for Online share Trading. I have so many VPN Clients in my VPN Server. Sometimes my VPN Clients disconnected from Systems but it shows in system tray i.e. connected but we are not able to access my application on the server.Then I disabled my Local area connection on client machine but it doesn't effect until I restart my System again.Firstly I want to know Task Manager Service for my VPN Client & how this problem can be remove.Waiting for reply. • Nginx + Haproxy + Thin + Rails - 503 Service Unavailable -

  I don't know how troubleshoot this. I get "503 Service Unavailable" http error for all "nginx upstreams" proxy passing calls to haproxy fast_thin and slow_thin ( server 127.0.0.1:3100 and server 127.0.0.1:3200 ), which loadbalance on 6 Thin servers ( 127.0.0.1:3000 .. 3005 ). Static files like /blog are currently fine. The falldown is: nginx on port 80 - haproxy on 3100 and 3200 - thin on 3000 .. 3005 and then Rails. • MySQL doesn't talk to PHP anymore (EasyPHP)

  I've just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 (64 bit) I was using EasyPHP 5.3.1 to develop my website, but since I've upgraded I can't get PHP to talk to MySQL. Even the PHPMyAdmin page doesn't load. I've tried installing the latest 64bit version of MySQL in place of the supplied version of MySQL, but that hasn't helped. The queries just don't seem to reach MySQL. I have verified that the DB for my database works by running mysql on the command line. PHPMyAdmin doesn't display an error, just a blank page. • Perl module error on solaris-10

  I have installed perl and pm_dbdmysql perl module on solaris-10. I have a perl script which makes the mysql DB connection to a diff server and runs some queries and returns the results. • LDAP over SSL with an EFI Fiery printer

  I've got a printer with a Fiery running 8e Release 2. I can authenticate users against AD using the LDAP configuration, but I can only get it to work if I don't use SSL/TLS, and only if I use SIMPLE authentication. Right now, it's authenticating using a fairly low-impact user, but it's also the only system on our network that's not using LDAPS. I can get AD info fine over LDAPS using ldp.exe from my machine, our firewall, our mail filter, our linux boxes, etc. The only problem child is the Fiery. I've added the LDAP server certificate as a trusted cert to the Fiery, but after I check the box for Secure Communication and change the port to 636, pressing Validate results in a dialog box coming up saying: LDAP Validation Failed Server Name invalid or server is unavailable. I've tried changing the server name to use just the name, the FQDN, and the IP address, and changed it to another server, just to see if it was just this AD server that was fussy with the Fiery. EDIT: removed LDP output, added packet capture analysis from wireshark: The conversation seems pretty normal to me, up to the point where the Fiery terminates the connection after the server sends back a handshake response. Maybe they messed up their TLS implementation? I'm trying support, but it's been fairly useless so far. The cert is a SHA-2 (sha256RSA) 2048-bit certificate. Also, it looks like the Fiery is specifying TLS 1.0. Looking at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa374757(v=vs.85).aspx, I'm not seeing SHA256 and TLS 1.0 combination being supported by SChannel. headdesk perhaps that's why, after the DC changes the cipher spec, the connection is terminated by the Fiery? TLS 1.1 and 1.2 are enabled on the DC. Actually it's a git repositiory for bower registy but it doesn't matter. I want WinSSHD allow me to connect to an endpoint like "ssh://[email protected]/" I've created a virtual user "bower" with password only auth. No keys. But if I leave empty password then WinSSHD doesn't allow connection with error "Incorrect virtual account password". How to setup a SSH access without any authentication?

  Hi all, i would like to create a site-to-site VPN between my ISA 2006 and a DLink router on the other side. My ISA got a fixed external IP Address, but the Dlink only has a dynamic one. So it makes use of DynDNS. Every "cheap router" supports making VPNs to a hostname. But in ISA 2006 I have to enter a IP Address in the VPN settings. • What are my options for sharing music between Windows & Ubuntu on the same network?

  We have a few Windows(XP & 7) and Ubuntu machines in the house sharing a wireless connection, and want to share music between them. If possible, I would like to be able to serve music from both Windows and Ubuntu (but it doesn't have to be the same time). I don't know much about sharing folders or streaming, but I'm guessing both would be options (that is, using a local client to access a shared song or a local client to access a shared stream). I want to be able to share the music between the systems as simply as possible. Bonus points (but not requirements) for cross-platform -- same application on both Windows and Ubuntu? available on startup (via daemon or autostart or whatnot) open source More info: All systems have dynamic addresses (DHCP) supplied from the ISP-supplied wireless router. There are several Gigabytes of music on one Windows XP box and one Ubuntu 10.10 The music is not well-sorted (I'm thinking this might have an impact on UI usability). Only has to be available internally (private address space behind the wireless router) bandwidth is not a problem We don't have (legitimate) admin access to the wireless router

It’s safe to say that the one thing Windows 8 doesn’t lack is criticism. Since the Consumer Preview debuted in February, it has proven to be one of the most polarizing Windows releases ever. But regardless of whether you love or hate it, Windows 8 is where Microsoft’s venerable operating system is headed. Portable computing is here to stay and if the company is to survive, let alone remain relevant, it has to change, adapt, embrace, and extend. Perhaps the single most universally controversial change to Windows is Microsoft’s decision to remove the Start button (or orb, if you’ve moved beyond XP) and with it, what we know to be the Start Menu. • How can I auto-connect to a WPA2 Enterprise network?

  I would like my computer to automatically connect to a WPA2-Enterprise network as soon as it boots whenever the network is available, without any action needed by me. The computer already offers to connect, and even remembers the password, but I must still hit 'Enter' to connect. Also, connection does not occur if my login is at the terminal. I would like to automatically connect every time I login, no matter how I do so, unless a more preferred network is available. What is the best way to do this? I am running Fedora 19. A shell script that can be invoked at the terminal would be preferred. Connecting even if the Gnome-desktop has not launched is a must.

• Symfony2 on Windows with Apache, PHP and MySQL - app_dev.php will not load

  I am trying to get a Symfony2 standard distribution to work on my Windows 7 laptop. I have installed Apache2 (version 2.2.22), PHP 5.3.10 and MySQL 5.5.22. I have a demo PHP script (php_info() and a database call), and it works fine. I can get the start page (http://localhost/Symfony/web/config.php) to display, but I cannot get http://localhost/Symfony/web/app_dev.php/ to execute. The error returned is Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset. I can get it to work if I install XAMPP instead, but I don't want to use XAMPP. I want to be able to install and configure the components separately. Why isn't this working? Are there some Apache settings that I am missing?

• mod_jk fails to detect error state because JBoss gives 404, not 500

  Configuration: Apache + mod_jk, several workers on other machines (load balancing). When JBoss fails to deploy an application for example because of failed connection to the database, requests to /myapp/somepage generate 404. How do I configure JBoss to return 500 for everything under /myapp when the application failed to deploy? Additional info: Since 404 is not an "error state" code, mod_jk does not mark the worker as failed and continues to route the traffic there. Since there might be valid requests to this application also generating 404, I can not configure mod_jk to treat 404 as an "error state"

  I have a Windows Server 2008 machine with dual NICs. Both are plugged into the same switch in a typical one-switch, one-gateway home network. This server is used almost exclusively for inbound connections. It hosts a web server (IIS 6), SQL server, and file server (via LAN UNC paths and mapped drives). How do I make best use of inbound bandwidth across both NICs? For example, if I connect to it by hostname and one of the interfaces has high traffic, I'd like the new connection to use the other interface.

• Is there a way I can use $PATH as defined by my bash profile?

  I spend most of my day ssh'd into servers. I have a series of aliases/functions/scripts that allow me to type p hostname from the terminal and execute GNU screen(1) on the remote side, using the following command: exec ssh hostname -t 'screen -RD'` I've only recently noticed that ssh -t does not get my custom $PATH. Here's some terminal output: adam@workstation:~:0$ sh server 'echo $PATH' /home/adam/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/opt/git/bin:/opt/git/libexec/git-core adam@workstation:~:0$ ssh server -t 'echo $PATH' /usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin Connection to uranus.plymouth.edu closed. My biggest problem is my custom aliases only try to execute screen, since I can't guarantee an absolute path, and my $PATH is structured so the shell should find the correct one. If my $PATH settings aren't honored, my scripts don't work. Is there a way I can use $PATH as defined by my .bashrc/.bash_profile? I believe PermitUserEnvironment is disabled.

• Apache 2.2.16: client denied by server configuration

  I have problem with my server configuration. I use Apache 2.216, PHP 5.3.3 and wordpress 3.4.2 with Shopperpress. Time to time I receive error "client denied by server configuration: path/to/file" in apache log file. It is path to _tbs.php file, but it is not problem in rights of file, because this file is called 12 times on page for getting thumbs of photos and there is error only several times. I think that it has no connection to concrete photo, because once this photo is displayed corectly and next time same photo produce error. Do you have any idea what can be reason? • Make Network Manager use bridge for PPPoE instead of only working on ethernet?

  My ISP uses PPPoE on their DSL connections. I use Network Manager to connect to this using a bridged modem connected to eth0. Often, I want to test networking things, so a set myself up a KVM machine with a tap interface. I can then connect these interfaces to to virtual 'switches' by adding them to bridges. (I work for my ISP). Sometimes, I want to test cases where the PPPoE is connected more than once. For this, I would like to be able to add eth0 to my 'switch' (a bridge) so the VMs can have a 'bridged modem' connection to the internet. But I would like to still be able to run the PPPoE for my computer at the same time. Which means that I need to get network-manager to run PPPoE over the bridge (or eth0). The problem is that it considers eth0 (and the bridge) 'not managed' by network manager, so it refuses to use it. So, how can I have network manager dial PPPoE over a bridge?

• AIX network parameters to close TCP sockets of unplugged devices

  Hi there We have an AIX box, running what we call in banking "ATM Switch" not the ATM networking switch, but the bank ATM driver. where we have some ATM machines connected to two server processes. The problem is, when we disconnect any of these machines, the netstat -na| grep <port number> command shows that the socket established for this disconnected device is still established, we have to manually send a command from the software to make the socket aware that it is not live anymore. Is there a parameter on tcp level to make this connection aware within a minute or two that this device is not connected anymore? we had the following parameters set with root privileges: no -o tcp_keepidle=1000 no -o tcp_keepcnt=2 no -o tcp_keepintvl=150 no -o tcp_finwait2=100 it was originally having the default values. but even after we changed these parameters and restarted the server processes, the problem was still there.
