  I have the following code: <?php if ($x == 1){ ?> <b>Some html...</b> <?php } else if ($x==2){ ?> <b> Other html...</b> <?php } ?> Now I would like to have two links below (a href) and somehow pass the variable $x (so Link1 passes x=1 and Link2 passes x=2) in order to load the relevant bit of code from if statement. I know I can pass $x using form and then test its value and load required bit of code, but I would like to do it smoothly, without reloading the page. I think that JQuery could help it, but I have no idea how to do it. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

  Hi I was looking for a way to call the edit method directly. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)theTableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath I have all my logic for animating manipulated cells, removing from my model array etc. in this method. It is getting called when a user swipes, adds or rearranges, but I would like to call it manually/directly as a background thread changes my model. I have constructed an NSIndexPath like so: NSIndexPath *path = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:1]; I just can't figure out how to call something like: [self.tableview commitEditingStyle:UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete forRowAtIndexPath:path]; Do I need to gain access to the methods of this plain style UITableView in another way? • What is the best way for communication between cluster nodes

  I have an application written in a combination of ASP/VB6/VBScript and ASP.NET/C# that consists of a website part, SOAP-like webservice part and a queue processing part processing incoming files in a hotfolder. We are used to running under load balancers (Microsoft or other make). Often we need to communicate between the different load balanced servers. Currently we do this through the SQL Server database that is common for all nodes, however, this comes with a performance penalty as each message requires a transaction and continual polling from the other nodes. • Which programming language to choose? (for a specific problem/domain, details inside)

  I am building a trading portfolio management system that is responsible for production, optimization, and simulation of non-high frequency trading portfolios (dealing with 1min or 3min bars of data, not tick data). I plan on employing Amazon web services to take on the entire load of the application. I have four choices that I am considering as language. a) Java b) C++ c) C# d) Python Here is the scope of the extremes of the project scope. This isn't how it will be, maybe ever, but it's within the scope of the requirements: Weekly simulation of 10,000,000 trading systems. (Each trading system is expected to have its own data mining methods, including feature selection algorithms which are extremely computationally-expensive. Imagine 500-5000 features using wrappers. These are not run often by any means, but it's still a consideration) Real-time production of portfolio w/ 100,000 trading strategies Taking in 1 min or 3 min data from every stock/futures market around the globe (approx 100,000) Portfolio optimization of portfolios with up to 100,000 strategies. (rather intensive algorithm) Speed is a concern, but I believe that Java can handle the load. I just want to make sure that Java CAN handle the above requirements comfortably. I don't want to do the project in C++, but I will if it's required. The reason C# is on there is because I thought it was a good alternative to Java, even though I don't like Windows at all and would prefer Java if all things are the same. Python - I've read somethings on PyPy and pyscho that claim python can be optimized with JIT compiling to run at near C-like speeds.... That's pretty much the only reason it is on this list, besides that fact that Python is a great language and would probably be the most enjoyable language to code in, which is not a factor at all for this project, but a perk. To sum up: - real time production - weekly simulations of a large number of systems - weekly/monthly optimizations of portfolios - large numbers of connections to collect data from There is no dealing with millisecond or even second based trades. The only consideration is if Java can possibly deal with this kind of load when spread out of a necessary amount of EC2 servers. Thank you guys so much for your wisdom.

  I've recently been porting a Chrome extension to Safari, and encountered this kind of error (bug, feature, etc.) So, in global page i have a XMLHTTP request to a secure page which is available only after you login. Example: I simply login using browser - as usually you do on facebook or other secure pages After that, in global page, I load a login-only-available xmlhttp - and it says i'm not logged in it seems that global page somewhat has it's own cookies, so a secure page thinks i'm new ps: in Chrome i can load that page and it thinks i'm acting on behalf of logged in user, so i guess there are some restrictions in Safari pps: i heard there's a Block third-party cookies option in Safari, but even if i checked it to "Never block" it still doesn't work

• Drupal - editing tab options for a content type not showing up

  I'm working on a D5 site and a lot of the content types have the menus at the top of the edit page. Examples: Overview | Grants | Dev load | Dev render | Edit | Revisions | Track | Workflow Overview | Dev load | Dev render | Edit | Revisions | Track | Workflow | Node queue | RelatedContent I'm not sure where these tabs come from, but I need to enable the menu for a content type that doesn't have them visible. I checked the workflow setting and the content type in question was specified to use workflow. So there should be at least another tab in addition to edit. The end goal is to have revisions show up in the menu, but I need to get the menu showing first. Any ideas where to start looking?

  I am working on a small function to take in a url and return a relative path based on where it resides itself. If the url contains a path in the query string, pathinfo returns incorrect results.   Hi There, I currently have an iPhone app that reads data from an external XML file at start-up, and then writes this data to the database (it only reads/writes data that the user's app has not seen before, though) My concern is that there is going to be a back catalogue of data of several years, and that the first time the user runs the app it will have to read this in and be atrociously slow. Our proposed solution is to include this data "pre-built" into the applications database, so that it doesn't have to load in the archival data on first-load - that is already in the app when they purchase it. My question is whether there is a way to automatically populate this data with data from, say, an XML file or something. The database is in SQLite. I would populate it by hand, but obviously this will take a very long time, so I was just wondering if anybody had a more...programmatic solution...

• Will news ticker using overflow:hidden cause Google to see site as spam?

  In the hope of tempting Googlebot with fresh content, I've implemented a homepage news ticker which displays the 20 most recent headlines on our site. The implementation I have chosen is a <ul> with each headline being a <li> Initially all the <li> elements have no style but Javascript kicks in on page load and gives all but one of them a display="style:none" attribute. Javascript then displays each of the other 19 headlines in a loop. So far so good. However, in order to prevent a visually unplesant page load where the 20 items display and then immediately collapse, I am using overflow:hidden on the <ul> element. Anyone got a view on what Googlebot is likely to make of this? Does the fact that I'm using overflow:hidden make the content look like spam?

  How can I make xargs execute the command exactly once for each line of input given? It's default behavior is to chunk the lines and execute the command once, passing multiple lines to each instance. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xargs: find /path -type f -print0 | xargs -0 rm In this example, find feeds the input of xargs with a long list of file names. xargs then splits this list into sublists and calls rm once for every sublist. This is more efficient than this functionally equivalent version: find /path -type f -exec rm '{}' \; I know that find has the "exec" flag. I am just quoting an illustrative example from another resource.

  I'm working with the iPhone SpeakHere example, and I would like to be able to play audio from either the mic (as in the example) or from a wav file.   hi, I'm using FUpload module to upload multiple images together from my CCK Image field. It perfectly works, however if I use it when I'm creating a new node, the other CCK Image fields stop to work and the images (from these fields) are not stored at all. The error I get is "path doesn't exist"... It sounds like fUpload force the other CCK fields to store the content before the node is saved and the folders are created. (I'm using path auto, to create folders accordingly to node title). Could you give me some tips ? Thanks

After that I have installed nginx and configure it as recommended here. Unfortunately, FastCGI shows me standard error 500 page: No Application Found Unable to find a matching application for request: Host localhost:80 Port 80 Request Path /Default.aspx Physical Path /var/www/mvc/Default.aspx My application is located in /var/www/mvc directory. I've tried to create some stub Default.aspx file and place it in root dir of my application, but it didn't help, same error occured. Thanks.

  As noted by the title, what is the best way to configure an IIS 6.0 deployment of an ASP.NET MVC application such that connections to hidden shares are ignored? The application in question is using wildcard mapping to allow for clean URLs since we are planning on upgrading to IIS 7.0 in the near future and we are also handling the caching and compression issues with a custom library so we would like to avoid turning wildcard mapping off unless absolutely necessary. • Using Omniture ActionSource with Flash IDE

  I have a flash app built in ActionScript 3 utilizing a document class. I have followed the documentation for implementing Omniture ActionSource tracking by adding the ActionSource component to my fla's library, and then importing it into the document class and running the configuration code. However, the app fails to compile because it cannot resolve the path to the component (com.omniture.ActionSource). My class path contains a com directory (package) where most of the classes I use in my projects reside. Has anyone had success implementing ActionSource in this manner? Thanks

  I have set the JAVA_HOME to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_11 I have set the Classpath to C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_11 I have set the path to C:\Ruby193\bin;C:\XEClient\bin; F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem; C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\bin; C:\Program Files\jEdit;C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin; C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\ Now my question is, what version of java does the tomcat run on? The tomcat console writes the whole 'path' and the cmd says it is java version 7 currently running in the system. Someone please help me out.. I have java 5,6,7 versions installed in my system and also tomcat 5,6,7. Now what is the tomcat's java version and the system's java version???
