    Exchange 2010 has a delegation model where groups of winrm cmdlets are essentally grouped into roles, and the roles assigned to a user. (Image source) This is a great & flexible model considering how I can leverage all the benefits of PowerShell, while using the right low level technologies (WCF, SOAP etc), and requiring no additional software on the client side. (Image source) Question(s) Is there a way for me to leverage Exchange's delegation model in my .NET application? Has anyone attempted to imitate this model? If I must start from scratch, how would I go about imitating this approach?

    I have a script in /etc/init.d on an EC2 image that, on machine startup, pulls in source code via SVN, builds it, and then runs it using Ant. The source code is Java. Within this code is a call to the Weka library which writes a file to disk. On most Ubuntu AMIs, and my home machines' versions of Ubuntu, there is no issue. The problem is that with certain versions/AMIs of Ubuntu, Unicode characters in the file are replaced with question marks ('?'). If I run the job manually on the trouble instance, Unicode is output to file correctly, but not when run from /etc/init.d. What might be causing this problem and how can I fix it so that Unicode characters appear correctly in files written from /etc/init.d processes?

    When you open a file in JDeveloper, the mode that is used as the default might not be what you as a developer want.  If, for example, every time you open a .jsp(x) file you click on the source tab at the bottom of the window so that you can edit the jsp(x) file in source code mode, you may want to consider changing the default editor for that file type.  This is easy to do in the JDeveloper tool preferences and can be a time saver in the long run, since some editors can take a while to start up and if you don't need them often, this would just be lost time.  Here are the steps:  From the JDeveloper menu, select Tools->Preferences...Select "File Types" in the tree component on the left side of the preferences dialog.Click on the "Default Editors" tab.Scroll to the file type you want to change.In the details section at the bottom of the dialog, use the "Default Editor" select list to change the default to your liking.

    How can I install Disastry's version of PGP 2.6.3ia-multi06 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS? His site with the source code is here: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/disastry/263multi.htm He already compiled a unix version of pgp and it's in the Linux section of his download. How can I either copy and install the binary PGP file, or compile it from the source and install. I have tried several different ways, get no error messages, but when I type pgp -h at the command line, Ubuntu tells me that pgp is not installed. (I already have truecrypt 7.1a and gnupg 1.4.16 installed, but still like the old pgp I have on windows) Thanks! traveler

  • Can the Clojure set and maps syntax be added to other Lisp dialects?

    In addition to create list using parentheses, Clojure allows to create vectors using [ ], maps using { } and sets using #{ }. Lisp is always said to be a very extensible language in which you can easily create DSLs etc. But is Lisp so extensible that you can take any Lisp dialect and relatively easily add support for Clojure's vectors, maps and sets (which are all functions in Clojure)? I'm not necessarily asking about cons or similar actually working on these functions: what I'd like to know is if the other could be modified so that the source code would look like Clojure's source code (that is: using matching [ ], { } and #{ } in addition to ( )). Note that if it cannot be done this is not a criticism of Lisp: what I'd like to know is, technically, what should be done or what cannot be done if one were to add such a thing.

    Hi all. Does anyone know of a hosted version of Yahoo! Answers (or Stackoverflow/Superuser) that I could integrate with my site? I know that there are some open-source implementations (see http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/2267/stack-overflow-clones?page=1&tab=votes#tab-top) but I'd rather have some hosted if possible. I know there is http://stackexchange.com/ as well, but I really want some tight integration with the rest of my site. Failing that, has anyone got any experience with the open source versions?   • RTL8188CU USB Network Adaptor on ubuntu 13.04

    I have an RTL8188CU USB Network Adaptor. On Ubuntu 12.10 I had to download RTL8188C_8192C_USB_linux_v3.4.4_4749.20121105 because the built-in rtl8192cu driver did not work on the 64bit system (Tested fine on 32bit). Now I have upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 and of cause the switch from kernel 3.4 to 3.8 broke the compatibility with the driver source. And (Like I suspected), the 64bit issue with rtl8192cu has still not been resolved. Since Realtek has not yet provided a new driver source, I have no working network on my computer (I use USB Tethering from my mobile at the moment). I tried downloading the Windows driver and set it up with ndiswrapper, but as soon as I activate the ndiswrapper module while having that driver installed, I get a kernel panic. Since I cannot be the only one using this USB Adaptor, I wanted to see if someone else might have found a solution to get something working? Someone might even have a solution as to why the built-in 64bit driver does not work?

After the change set is packaged, you need to upload the chagneset so that destination environment can see the change set in its incoming change set list.   • Build Dependencies and Silverlight 4

    At my current position, I’ve been doing quite a bit of Silverlight development and have also been working with TFS2010 build services to enable continuous integration.  One of the critical pieces of a successful continuous build setup (and also one of the benefits of having one) is that the build system should be able to “get latest” against the source repository and immediately build with no errors.  This can break down both in an automated build scenario and a “new guy” scenario when the solution has external dependencies that may not be present in the build environment. The method that I use to address the dependency issue is to store all of the binaries upon which my solution depends in a folder under the solution root called “Reference Items”.  I keep this folder as part of the solution and check all of the binaries into source control so when I get the latest version of the solution from source control all of the binaries are downloaded to my machine as well and gets me closer to the ideal where a new developer installs the development IDE, get latest and can immediately build and run unit tests before jumping into coding the feature of the day. This all sounds pretty good (and it is), but a little while back I ran into one of those little hiccups that requires a little manual intervention.  The issue that I ran into is that with Silverlight (at least version 4), the behavior of the “Add Reference” command when adding reference to a DLL that is present in the GAC is to omit the HintPath element that it includes with regular .Net projects, so even if the DLL is setting in the Reference Items folder and downloaded to the build machine it cannot be found at compile time and the build will fail. To work around this behavior, you need to be comfortable editing the XML project files generated by Visual Studio (in my case this is typically a .csproj file).  Simply open the project file in your favorite text editor, find the Reference element that refers to the component, and modify the XML to include the HintPath.  Here’s a before and after example of the component that ultimately led me to the investigation behind this post: Before: <Reference Include="Telerik.Windows.Controls, Version=2011.2.920.1040, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=5803cfa389c90ce7, processorArchitecture=MSIL" /> After: <Reference Include="Telerik.Windows.Controls, Version=2011.2.920.1040, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=5803cfa389c90ce7, processorArchitecture=MSIL">       <HintPath>..\Reference Items\Telerik.Windows.Controls.dll</HintPath>     </Reference>

    I'm familiar with the arguments for HTML5 apps over native, but was looking for some numbers or data to indicate a trend of how popular they are relative to each other for mobile app development. E.g. Surveys among programmers, data collected from the various app stores, number of downloads of development tools for those platforms. Your source could consider new apps, existing apps, categorized by downloads, app downloads weighted by popularity - basically any source you've got I would like to see. In my own personal monkey-sphere of developers, HTML5 seems to be starting to dominate as of about 6 months ago over iOS and Android by a wide margin as the technology stack preference - so I was wondering if this reflects a trend that's been measured globally and if there was objective data to support it.

The JSR 342 specification was finalised on May 28, 2013 with the official launch taking place on June 12, 2013 (original press release). As of today, there are already 3 Java EE 7 compatible Application Servers, coming from different 'vendors' (Oracle, TmaxSoft and Red Hat). Two of those Java EE 7 Application Servers are free and open source. We expect the list of Java EE 7 compatible Application Servers to grow over the coming months. There are more than 25 (!) books related to Java EE 7 or to one of the Java EE 7 component specification.  There are many more ways to learn Java EE but if I have to suggest one and only one way, I would recommend the Java EE 7 Tutorial. It's exhaustive and clear, it's free and it continues to evolve. And finally as the introductory quote suggest, participation is key to learning. Participate in JUGs,  participate in Adopt-a-JSR, get involved in the different open source communities evolving around Java EE, participate in the JCP... in one word, participate!

  • Connect Team Foundation Service/TFS 2012 with Visual Studio 2010 &amp; Visual Studio 2008

    Hello, Microsoft finally released the Team Foundation Service in late October 2012 after its long time in the preview phase. I was already using the TFS Preview which was free but I was happy to see Microsoft releasing the Team Foundation Service also FREE for upto 5 users. Isn't that great news? I know there are bunch of other free source control repositories (Github, Bitbucket, SVN etc.) out there but I somehow like TFS better. Also the other good thing about the final release was that I didn’t had to do any kind of migration of my code from preview to final release version. Just changed the TFS connection URL and it worked like a charm. Anyways, if you are a startup with small team and need some awesome Source Control along with all the good Project Management, Continuous Integration (Build, Test, Deploy), Team Collaboration, Agile/Scrum planning etc. features than Team Foundation Service is your answer. Microsoft has not yet released their pricing for more than 5 users and will be releasing it sometime in early 2013. What if as of now you have a team more than 5 users and you want to use Team Foundation Service, the good news is you can use it for FREE but when they release the final pricing, you will have to transition to the paid plan. Lot of story, getting to the point, connecting to Team Foundation Service with Visual Studio 2012 is straight forward and would work out of the box but it wont for previous versions of Visual Studio. You will have to upgrade to the latest service pack first and than install the forward compatibility pack. (1st : Service Packs & 2nd: Forward Compatibility packs) For Visual Studio 2010: Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1. Visual Studio 2010 forward compatibility for TFS 2012 and Team Foundation Service.         For Visual Studio 2008: Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1. Visual Studio 2008 forward compatibility for TFS 2012 & Team Foundation Service. Restart your system. Visual Studio 2008 will not work if you only put https://xxx.visualstudio.com. You will have to put your collection name too as shown below.       By the way, it doesn’t matter if you are an Apple Application Developer or Android App Developer, you can still use Team Foundation Service as your source control.   • Magento Bulk Product Import + Modules Nightmare

    Have 5,000 products in CSV file File has been re-saved as UT8 file in google documents and exported to CSV from excel File loads perfectly with all fields in demo of magento store manager (except we dont want to buy it:) When trying to upload in regular Magento..keep getting error messages on column duplicates....yes we have hundreds of duplicates as the titles of products in fields correspond with different sizes, etc...no way around it Any solutions around this or any open source software similar to store manager that can do the trick. Ready to give up and go to paid solution such as Big Commerce Also, Uploaded a bunch of free modules/keys...of open source bulk import products from magentocommerce but I cant find them anywhere in the main admin panel to use...there is no menu item for them anywhere??
