  i have a table with 6 fields. the columns are ID, new_id price,title,Img,Active. I have datawhich is duplicated for the price column. When I do a select i want to show only distinct rows where new_id is not the same. e.g.- ID New_ID Price Title Img Active 1 1 20.00 PA-1 0X4... 1 2 1 10.00 PA-10 0X4... 1 3 3 20.00 PA-11 0X4... 1 4 4 30.00 PA-5 0X4... 1 5 9 20.00 PA-99A 0X4... 1 6 3 50.00 PA-55 0X4... 1 When the select statement runs, only rows with ID (1,4,9,6) should show. Reason being the new_ID with the higher price should show up. How can i do this?

Now with the where condition added, am only able to get rows from EmployeeInfo only if they have corresponding rows in LeaveApplications yet i just wanted rows all in EmployeeInfo

• Any way to avoid a filesort when order by is different to where clause?

  I have an incredibly simple query (table type InnoDb) and EXPLAIN says that MySQL must do an extra pass to find out how to retrieve the rows in sorted order. SELECT * FROM `comments` WHERE (commentable_id = 1976) ORDER BY created_at desc LIMIT 0, 5 exact explain output: table select_type type extra possible_keys key key length ref rows comments simple ref using where; using filesort common_lookups common_lookups 5 const 89 commentable_id is indexed. Comments has nothing trick in it, just a content field. The manual suggests that if the order by is different to the where, there is no way filesort can be avoided. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/order-by-optimization.html I also tried order by id as well as it's equivalent but makes no difference, even if I add id as an index (which I understand is not required as id is indexed implicitly in MySQL). thanks in advance for any ideas!

  My jQuery code: $(document).ready(function() { chrome.extension.sendRequest({get: "height"}, function(response) { height = response.value; }); $("#id").css("height", height+"px"); }); You don't have to be concerned about the chrome.extension.sendRequest(), basically it communicates with a background page to fetch the value for "height" from localStorage and stores the value in global variable height. The problem lies in $("#id") not being assigned the height value. However if I were to modify it such that it is now: $(document).click(function() { $("#id").css("height", height+"px"); }); it works. Any idea why?

• AutoComplete field and IE

  My web page does not have the autocomplete attribute that would tell browsers not to autocomplete the field. In spite of not having this attribute, IE 8 or Safari (not sure on other browsers) does not autocomplete the page. Autocomplete does work on some sites (such as Gmail) so I am assuming that the browser setting is not causing it? • root path for multiple controllers on rails routes

  I have two resource controllers where I am using a slug to represent the ID. (friendly_id gem). I am able to have the show path for one resource on the route but not for two at the same time. ie. root :to => 'home#index' match '/:id' => "properties#show" match '/:id' => "contents#show" Basically I want urls like, # Content domain.com/about-us domain.com/terms # Property domain.com/unique-property-name domain.com/another-unique-property-name Whatever resource I put on top works. • How do I remove duplicate SQL Server 2008 instances after upgrading from SQL Server 2005?

  I've just upgraded an existing SQL Server 2005 to 2008 by running the installer (not the platform installer). It all seems to have worked - there were no errors reported and my code that connects to these databases still works fine. The problem is, when I try installing SQL Server Management Studio Express 2008 I am shown then following error message when I select to add new features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2008: The SQL Server instance 'SQL1MINUS102' already has an Instance ID '2' that is different than the specified Instance ID 'SQL1MINUS102'. Specifying more than one instance ID for the same SQL Server instance is not supported. Here is a screenshot of the installation dialog and the setup discovery report: Screenshot Notice that there are two instances with the same name. So any ideas how I should recifiy this so that I can install Management studio? Thanks in advance

• Hover image - part of forms appears untill hover another How?

  Im trying to make part of my form/questionnaire appears when hover on image and stay active untill hover another image next to it. and repeat it on 7 images. Of course I need the cheched checkboxes to stay after they'll be hidden so you can come back to them by hover the image and for ex. correct answers and so on.. So i need to select table by a fieldname in this case the fieldname is tableid1 and would have the content 21 so that i have to look in 21. AND it should be property 1 from table 456 and table 21 the same... i am using php and already tried with union and subquerys but it seems that i am to silly to prepare such query!

  I'm in the process of creating unique customers ID's that is an alternative Id for external use. In the process of adding a new column "cust_uid" with datatype INT for my unique ID's, When I do an INSERT into this new column: Insert Into Customers(cust_uid) Select ABS(CHECKSUM(NEWID())) I get a error: Could not create an acceptable cursor. OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "SHQ2IIS1" returned message "Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done. I've check all data types on both tables and the only things that has changed is the new column in both tables. The update is being done on one Big @$$ table...and for reasons above my pay grade, we would like to have new uid's that are different form the one's that we currently have "so users don't know how many accounts we actually have." Is INT the correct datatype for ABS(CHECKSUM(NEWID())) ?

• JQuery Dynamic Element - In DOM but unable to bind

  Hi All, I'm new to using JQuery so bear with me. I had implmented some code based on a js file that I found online which enables a series of div tags within a nested structure on my page to step through and show each one individually on the page. This all works great when I define the div tags as static entries in the masterpage. I should add that this is being implemented in a SharePoint master page. Ultimately though, with a static collection of div tags ideally containing an image with some descriptive text, and a hyperlink its not very flexible. Roll on my changes to make this a little more configurable. I have implemented some additional code that will read from a SharePoint list via an ajax call to the lists web service. For each entry in the list I am building a div tag that contains the information required dynamically. For testing, I am only pulling the title through at present. I have used the following code: $('#beltDiv').append(divHTML) to append the divs in the loop that are created to my nested structure on the page. I figured that this would cause the fade code to work as expected but I was wrong. It doesn't do anything at all. When check the source on the page, the div tags are not shown. They are however available in the DOM model when viewed through the IE developer toolbar. The issue (I think) looks to be that the initiation of the featureFade code is not working due to the div tags being unavailable. Is there a way to address this?   Hi, I'm new to the Ruby and Ruby on Rails world. I've read some guides, but i've some trouble with the following syntax. I think that the usage of :condition syntax is used in Ruby to define a class attribute with some kind of accessor, like: class Sample attr_accessor :condition end that implicitly declares the getter and setter for the "condition" property. While i was looking at some Rails sample code, i found the following examples that i don't fully understand. For example: @post = Post.find(params[:id]) Why it's accessing the id attribute with this syntax, instead of: @post = Post.find(params[id]) Or, for example: @posts = Post.find(:all) Is :all a constant here? If not, what does this code really means? If yes, why the following is not used: @posts = Post.find(ALL) Thanks
