  • Override some DNS records and delegate others to another nameserver

    I'm starting playing with nameservers. Currently I have: A domain: mydomain.com Access for writing the whois ns records. Access for writing DNS records at the domain hosting provider. nsX.foo.com A shared (hostC) hosting which cPanel writes in the nameserver of nsX.bar.com Basically I want the following structure: hostA.mydomain.com -> hostA hostB.mydomain.com -> hostB hostC.mydomain.com -> hostC mydomain.com -> hostC *.mydomain.com -> hostC Whats the correct way of configuring this? By the way I have configured the following records hostA.mydomain.com IN A [IP_OF_hostA] (at foo.com nameservers) hostB.mydomain.com IN A [IP_OF_hostB] (at foo.com nameserver) But now I dont know how to specify that @.mydomain.com and *.mydomain.com are resolved by the ns1.bar.com and ns2.bar.com, and it is hard to try with the delays after editing the records.

  • Why Are SPF Records Failing?

    Ok I've been going through various different sites, resources and topics here trying to figure out what is wrong with my SPF records but no matter what I do they don't seem to pass. Here's what I have "v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:217.78.0.92 +ip4:217.78.0.95 -all" I've tried multiple different tools to check my spf records, some give me a pass, some don't. But I can't send mail to certain google app accounts, they just bounce back all the time which is very annoying. Anyone got any ideas? I have noticed that the source IP address is not the IPV4 addresses I've defined, but Cpanel wouldn't let me add that address into it.. And here's the result of tests I'm getting back from port25.com. I'm running WHM by the way and have enabled spf and dkim.   • CNAME vs A records

    I built a small rails app that allow users to make a simple site. It uses subdomain accounts ex: deb.myapp.com Whenever an user wanted to have a domain name associated with their site, they would change their NS records to point to slicehost where the application is hosted and I would manage the DNS records myself. However, as more people are using the application this is not an option for me anymore. I prefer users to keep their nameservers at goddady, register.com, etc, so they can log in and manage their own MX records or whatever else they need to change. My question is, should I have them change the A records to point to my server's ip, or should I have them create a CNAME record? Do they need to delete the default A records to allow the CNAME record to work? Will the A record take precedence and overrule the CNAME record? Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is a very basic question. I've read other posts and I can't find a definite answer.

CustomerObj.Prop2 = ... CustomerObj.Prop3 = ... CustomerRepo.Update(CustomerObj); This works perfectly well when I am updating just to the specific table called Customer. Now if I need to also update each row of another table which is a child of Customer called Orders what changes do I need to make to the class MyRepository. Orders table will have multiple records for a Customer record and multiple fields too, say for example Field1, Field2, Field3. So my questions are: 1.) If I only need to update Field1 of the Orders table for some rows based on a condition and Field2 for some other rows based on a different condition then what changes I need to do? 2.)     I am using a data grid and has bound a data source with it. I am trying to get the total number of records in the grid in overriden InitializePager method from pagedDataSource DataSourceCount. I thought DataSourceCount returns number of records from SelectCountMethod of ObjectDataSource, but DataSourceCount is giving me the page size and not the total number of records, whereas when I debug and see in SelectCountMethod it is returning correct number of total Records. I am not sure how to get the data from SelectCountMethod in DataGrid.

  • Updating Windows DNS records from a remote windows DNS server

    Does anyone know if it is possible for a windows 2003 DNS server to update the records for a domain so that it contains all the records of a domain of of a remotely based DNS server? Im almost certain that doesn't quite explain the problem so I shall illustrate with an example: We have two offices, both are based about 100 miles apart. One deals with IT (Intranet development etc.) while the other is a call centre that uses the Intranet systems. Currently each office has its own DNS server, with the IT office's and call centre's DNS servers containing entries for intranet site. The difference is that the IT DNS server records point to the various servers that host the Intranet sites (e.g. intranetsite1 - 192.168.1.10, intranetsite2 - 192.168.1.11) while all of the entries in the call centre's DNS point to the IT office's DNS server (intranetsite1 - [it office ip address], intranetsite2 - [it office ip address]). Is there any way that the call centre's DNS server could automatically add all DNS records hosted by the IT office's DNS, translating the IP addresses to the IP address of the IT office?

  • Transferring NS records to a new server

    I feel like that was NOT worded well, but here is my current predicament. I recently had a GoDaddy dedicated server, and decided after their customer support failed to do anything but disappoint, to switch to Rackspace. We have 2 ns records that point to our godaddy server, and we have a few sites left on the server, that rely on it for their DNS zones, and the owners of the domains fail to respond to us. So, the question is, if I need to transfer the sites off of the OLD godaddy NS, can I point the A records from my ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com to match up with IP addresses of the Rackspace nameservers? OR, do I cname my NS records to match the rackspace ones? I DO know that this isn't advised, either method, but I need to get these sites moved before Godaddy tries charging another $2k for the server.

  • Indexing vs. no indexing when inserting records

    I have a few questions about whether or not it would be best to not use indexing. BACKGROUND: My records have a timestamp attribute, and the records will be inserted in order of their timestamps (i.e., inserted chronologically). QUESTIONS: If I DON'T use indexing is it typical for the database to insert the records in the order that they were inserted? If answer to #1 is yes, when I do a "SELECT .. WHERE timestamp X" type query will the database be efficient at it, or will it have to go through every single record since it isn't indexed? I would assume if there were no index, the database would not "know" that the records were inserted in sorted order and could not, therefore, make use of sorted property of the database. I assume a clustered index would be best for these types of records & their inserts. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks, jbu

    I am trying to export one field from a very large table - containing 5,000,000 records, for example - into a csv list - but not all together, rather, 100,000 records into each .csv file created - without duplication. How can I do this, please? I tried SELECT field_name FROM table_name WHERE certain_conditions_are_met INTO OUTFILE /tmp/name_of_export_file_for_first_100000_records.csv LINES TERMINATED BY '\n' LIMIT 0 , 100000 that gives the first 100000 records, but nothing I do has the other 4,900,000 records exported into 49 other files - and how do I specify the other 49 filenames? for example, I tried the following, but the SQL syntax is wrong: SELECT field_name FROM table_name WHERE certain_conditions_are_met INTO OUTFILE /home/user/Eddie/name_of_export_file_for_first_100000_records.csv LINES TERMINATED BY '\n' LIMIT 0 , 100000 INTO OUTFILE /home/user/Eddie/name_of_export_file_for_second_100000_records.csv LINES TERMINATED BY '\n' LIMIT 100001 , 200000 and that did not create the second file... what am I doing wrong, please, and is there a better way to do this?   • Election 2012: Twitter Breaks Records with MySQL

    Twitter VP of Infrastructure Operations Engineering Mazen Rawashdeh shared news and numbers yesterday on his blog: "Last night, the world tuned in to Twitter to share the election results as U.S. voters chose a president and settled many other campaigns. Throughout the day, people sent more than 31 million election-related Tweets (which contained certain key terms and relevant hashtags). And as results rolled in, we tracked the surge in election-related Tweets at 327,452 Tweets per minute (TPM). These numbers reflect the largest election-related Twitter conversation during our 6 years of existence, though they don’t capture the total volume of all Tweets yesterday." "Last night, Twitter averaged about 9,965 TPS from 8:11pm to 9:11pm PT, with a one-second peak of 15,107 TPS at 8:20pm PT and a one-minute peak of 874,560 TPM. Seeing a sustained peak over the course of an entire event is a change from the way people have previously turned to Twitter during live events.     I have the GoDaddy hosting and send mail using the following code: $to = "[email protected]"; $subject = "Test mail"; $message = "Hello! This is a simple email message."; $from = "[email protected]"; $headers = "From:" . $from; mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers); echo "Mail Sent."; When the mail arrives at its destination I see the following (in red outline) I don't want to show the "via server" and for that there is an option to add a SPF record. To do this I have followed the instructions in this page: Managing DNS for Your Domain Names but it's not working. After that i have tried: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all as described in http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=178723 but I still get the same result. How can I solve this and prevent "via server" showing?

  • How to point DNS records to Amazon AWS Elastic Beanstalk

    I just created a new environment with AWS and uploaded a .zip file into elastic beanstalk. I used to have a friend's server host my site instead of GoDaddy so I changed my custom DNS name servers from pointing to my friend's server to GoDaddy's. AWS told me that I need I need to add a CNAME record on GoDaddy and I did. The alias is lance and the host is lance-env.elasticbeanstalk.com. I know that this change can take 24-48 hours to take effect but it's been a day already and when I go to my site, a default page from GoDaddy appears. I'm very new to AWS and would just like to find a way for AWS to host my site other than using Route53.

    We release a number of small plug-ins that go along with our software. Each plug-in allows our software to talk to a single manufactuer's hardware. I would like to devise a system for keeping track of plug-in releases. Example info that should be stored: Hardware manufacturer name 32-bit? 64-bit? both? What modes of operation does the hardware support? What versions of the manufacturer's driver have been tested with the plugin? Desirable properties of the system: Able to synchronize with version control software Stores data in human-readable text file (also good for differ tool) Free visual, spreadsheet-like editor available Able to do simple analysis like "What is the oldest plug-in?" I've got to imagine that someone else has tackled this problem already. Right now my best guess is XML/JSON with a visual editor, but I have been disappointed in the editors I've tried so far. I'd like to get input from some more experienced developers. Thanks!

  • Biztalk :Tagidentifier for optional records

    I am sure many of us must have faced this issue.Problem:My flat file schema has an optional  record  and marked with a tagidentifier. we would think that the input message without that optional record will pass the schema validation. But by default Biztalk throws an error about the missing record if we try to 'Validate the instance' in the Biztalk mapper.Resolution:On the schema node, set Parser Optimization to “Complexity” instead of thedefault "Speed" optimization.
