  • Mount a LUKS partition at boot

    Hi, I have installed an Ubuntu machine with two encrypted LUKS partitions: one for / and one for /home. I've reinstalled the machine to upgrade to 10.04. Again, the / is installed using LUKS, and I'm able to mount the /home using: mkdir /media/home sudo cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda2 home sudo mount -t ext3 /dev/mapper/home /media/home The problem is, this cryptfs mapper disappears after boot, so I putting the appropriate line in fstab fails. How do I set the cryptfs to prompt for password and unlock the drive at boot? Thanks, Adam

    Okay i get the following error message: to=<[email protected]>, ctladdr=<www-data@adam-linux> (33/33), delay=2+08:20:35, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=25590437, relay=adamziolkowski.com., dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with adamziolkowski.com. I'm guessing to make sendmail work. I have to change the default outgoing port number to 465 because comcast blocks port 25. Any ideas? What could be causing this error?

  • LAN->LAN IP translation (for TortoiseSVN + Artifacts + Buffalo router)

    Here's my scenario: I've got a VisualSVN server on my main dev box @ home. I'm also using Visual Studio 2010, TortoiseSVN, VisualSVN client (for source control), and Versioned 'Artifacts' (for bug tracking). (I had to modify the fake URL's below to use only one slash because as a new user, I can't post more than one real URL.) I've got my Buffalo AirStation WHR-HP-G300N router properly configured so my business partner can connect to the SVN server. I have port forwarding enabled for the internet-side IP address (like http:/99.888.77.66:443) which gets forwarded to an internal IP (like 192.168.11.6). This part is working great. The problem I'm having is with the integration piece between TortoiseSVN and my bug tracking system. I need to provide a bugtraq:url property, but I haven't been able to get relative paths to work. So I'm forced to use an absolute URL. On my end, I need to use the name of my server (for example: bugtraq:url = https:/my-server/svn/bla..), but this doesn't work for my partner. He needs to specify the IP address (for example: bugtraq:url = https:/999.888.77.66:443/svn/bla...) Is there a way to configure my router such that the IP address for this parameter gets re-routed/re-mapped to "https://my-server" if the request originates from the LAN itself? My router's software supports LAN-Internet and Internet-LAN, but I don't see LAN-LAN.

  • Kubuntu 9.10: LUKS-encrypt entire partition

    Hi, In older versions of Ubuntu, mainly 8.04, I could encrypt en entire partition using LUKS, and mount it as /. the /boot directory was mounted on another partition. At boot time, I had to enter my password to enable any access to anything other than /boot. In Kubuntu 9.10, I only have the option to encrypt my /home/adam directory, which is a bit of a problem for me because I have sensitive data located in other directories. Any ideas how to set up LUKS for the entire disk, preferably during installation? Thanks in advance, Adam

  • Neo4j Windows Plugin Installation desktop V2.M06

    I have downloaded and installed the latest Window V2 Community M06 build of Neo4j on a windows 7 64 bit machine (I have tried the 32bit and 64 bit installs). Installation proceeds without and problems and the system runs normally but there is no /plugins directory (on both versions):- \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\ \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\.install4j \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\bin I am trying to install the Spatial plugin .. so I tried creating the \plugins directory.   • Confirm that a dns zone is served by a nameserver

    We currently have a domain which has custom nameservers. Our host has their own nameservers. I'd like to switch our domain to use our host's nameservers for a while. Our host tells me that their nameservers hold a replica of our dns zone, but I'd like to confirm this before I switch. Is there a command line tool I can use that I can use to answer the question "does this nameserver know the dns zone of this domain?" Hope that makes sense! Thanks, Adam

    I'm lead dev for a large website which has a higher than average percentage of IE6 users - about 4.4% of our audience. Our new version is going to make use of progressive enhancement - including transitions and effects as well as rounded corners, gradients, web fonts and other CSS techniques. Obviously there are cross-browser ways to achieve most of these things which require various amounts of work to implement. What I'm currently looking into - and what I'd like your experiences of - is how to decide at what point we draw the line between providing an enhanced experience vs just supporting the functionality. FYI, I believe that this question meets the six guidelines for great subjective questions as defined in the FAQ.     I recently reimaged my Lenovo t400 with Ubuntu. However, after wiping two other systems (Compaq Presario 2100 and Dell Latitude D600) both hUbuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 fail to load on boot. I am concerned that there is some type of issue using Ubuntu on these older systems as every part of the process has been repeated/attempted several times in the same manner as practiced in the successful load of the newer Lenovo t400. I now have two laptops without an operating system as the discs/thumb drives that were formatted to load on these devices do not seem to work.   • Problem with dropdownbox length

    Hello, I'm creating a javascript method that populates lists depending on a radio button selected previously. As it depends on animals or plants to populate it, my problem comes when I have to populate it after it's already been populated. I mean, the plants dropdownlist has 88 elements, and the animals is 888, when I try to come back from animals to plants, I get some of the animals. I know that my controller method is working properly because it returns the values I select, so the problem is the javascript method. Here is the code: if(selector == "sOrder") alert(document.getElementById(selector).options.length); for (i = 0; i < document.getElementById(selector).options.length; i++) { document.getElementById(selector).remove(i); } if (selector == "sOrder") alert(document.getElementById(selector).options.length); document.getElementById(selector).options[0] = new Option("-select-", "0", true, true); for (i = 1; i <= data.length; i++) { document.getElementById(selector).options[i] = new Option(data[i - 1].taxName, data[i - 1].taxRecID);} Here is the strange thing, when I enter the method I try to erase all the elements of the dropdownlist in order to populate it afterwards. As sOrder is the same selector I had previously selected, I get the elements, the thing is that the first alert I get the proper result, 888, but in the second alert, I should get a 0 right? It shows 444, so when I populate it again it just overrides the first 88 plants and then animals till 444. What am I doing wrong? Thank you all in advance, Victor

    I am using the VSSConveter.exe tool to import from VSS6 (using 2005 ide) to TFS2008. I have run analyze (no errors) and migrate WITH a user mapping file (containg the vss/domain user mappings) I would like to persist in tfs the check-in user of the file, currently the check-in user for all versions of file shows as admin (the account im running the import with), the origional check-in user is appended to the check-in comment.   • Blurry printed raster images with Brother MFC-8840D

    (NOTE: crossposted here: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1621795) I've got a Brother MFC-8840D. Works great with Ubuntu server! Setting up a CUPS print server was pretty straightforward, and I also finally got network scanning working reliably with saned. Printing documents and Web pages works well: fonts are crisp/clear, etc. One issue has got me completely vexed: printing raster (ie: JPG) images. They are blurry. For example, I can scan a page of black and white text at 150 or 300 dpi. The grayscale image looks perfect on my monitor. But the printed version is much blurrier than the original, regardless of the "print resolution" dpi I choose. As a counterexample, if I use the "copy" function of the MFC-8840D, the copy looks excellent, and this function is much, much faster than if I scan then print a scan of same. I've googled around a bunch and tried different tricks (printing a PDF with the image from evince, printing with Gimp, EOG and other applications) but I just can't print anything that looks as good as a copy made with the MFC-8840D. Any ideas? I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS server. I'm using the PPD file from solutions.brother.com. Thanks, -Adam

  • iSCSI targets don't appear after rescan

    Hi everybody, I have an Equallogic 4000PS SAN box to which I have connected 2 x ESX 4.0.0 hosts sharing the LUNs. I have an older ESX 3.5 host which I want to setup to share the same LUNs. I have setup a vmkernel port with 2 NICs attached to 2 the iSCSI switch. When I perform an iSCSI software adapter rescan, it takes a long time and it doesn't find the targets.   • Ubuntu + Raid on HP proliant DL 160 G6

    Hi, I'm, trying to install Ubuntu 8.04 Server on an HP Proliant DL160 G6. The HP hardware is certified by Ubuntu for the 9.04 version, which I can't install due to company policy. The problem is that Ubuntu would not recognize the RAID 1+0 disk configured by the BIOS. The raid creates one ~470GB disk from two 500GB physical disks. Any ideas? Adam

    hey guys im stuck on a project i have i need to find a way to stream my home webcam onto my mobile phone, in this case on a blackberry bold 9700, also i have an i pod touch 2.0. the problem i keep coming across is that every program i find askes for money, i am looking for a way to do this for free, ive been trying using vlc but have so far been unable to get the stream to work, any help would be great thanks a lot adam
