complete Looks like the SATA interface tries to use 6Gbps link, then fails miserably and Linux fallbacks to 3Gbps. This is somewhat fine for me, as the system boots successfully each time and works under high load (cd linux-3.2.8; make -j16). I've also ran memtest86+ and it did not find any errors. What concerns me more is that Grub sometimes takes a long time to load the images and/or fails to load itself completely. The error is consistent and is probablistic: that is, each time I boot I have a certain chance to fail. Actually, I have a slight suspiction on the cause of the failure. Look at the cabling: What kind of engineer does it this way? Nah. Even 1Gbps Ethernet hardly tolerates cables bent over a small angle, and there you have 6Gbps SATA. How cound I determine and fix the cause of errors and/or switch the link to 3Gbps mode permanently?

• CentOS server. What does it mean when the total used RAM does not equal the sum of RES?

  I'm having a problem with a virtual hosted server running CentOS. In the past month a process (java based) that had been running fine started having problems getting memory when the JVM was started. One strange thing I've noticed is that when I start the process, the PID says it is using 470mb of RAM while the 'used' memory immediately drops by over a 1GB. If I run 'top', the total RES used across all processes falls short of the 'used' listed at the top by almost 700mb. The support person says this means I have a memory leak with my process. I don't know what to believe because I would expect a memory leak to simply waste the memory the process is allocated not to consume additional memory that doesn't show up using 'top'. I'm a developer and not a server guy so I'm appealing to the experts. To me, if the total RES memory doesn't add up to the total 'used' it indicates that something is wrong with my virtual server set-up. Would you also suspect a memory leaking java process in this case? If I use free before: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 2097152 149264 1947888 0 0 0 -/+ buffers/cache: 149264 1947888 Swap: 0 0 0 free after: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 2097152 1094116 1003036 0 0 0 -/+ buffers/cache: 1094116 1003036 Swap: 0 0 0 So it looks as though the process is using (or causing to be used) nearly 1GB of RAM. Since the process (based on top is only using 452mb, does that mean that the kernal is all of a sudden using an additional 500mb?

My /WEB-INF/lib folder contains the following libraries: jstl.jar standard.jar My JSP looks something like this: <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %> <p>Hello! <% out.print(System.getProperty("java.class.path")); %></p> But I keep getting the following exception: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: The absolute uri: http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core cannot be resolved in either web.xml or the jar files deployed with this application Any ideas as to why it is doing that? • Webdav -- GET on a directory

  I am beginning to build a tool that uses WebDAV. I am having trouble wrapping my head around something here. I think I am missing something conceptual. I can use PUT's to add files to the server. I can use GET's to read files from the server, but when I try to use GET on a directory I get a 403:Forbidden. I am using basic authentication. My code in MacRuby is as follows Net::HTTP.start('localhost') do |http| res = Net::HTTP::Get.new('http://localhost/webdav/') res.basic_auth 'jcannatti', 'webdav' http.request res end this returns <Net::HTTPForbidden 403 Forbidden readbody=true> however this Net::HTTP.start('localhost') do |http| res = Net::HTTP::Put.new('http://localhost/webdav/gorilla.txt') res.body = "testetsetest" res.basic_auth 'jcannatti', 'webdav' http.request res end returns <Net::HTTPCreated 201 Created readbody=true> What should happen when calling a GET on a WebDAV directory when everything is working correctly? thanks

• Unable to call views

  I'm using Sails and I when I attempt to call the login action of my UsersController. I know my routing is working, because the console.log successfully logs both the loginpassword and loginname. However, the res.view() doesn't work. Then, follow the example configuration file named mysql-ds.xml in the $JBOSS_HOME/docs/examples/jca directory that comes with a JBoss binary installation. To activate your DataSource, place an xml file that follows the format of mysql-ds.xml in the deploy subdirectory in either $JBOSS_HOME/server/all, $JBOSS_HOME/server/default, or $JBOSS_HOME/server/[yourconfig] as appropriate. • I am trying to figure out the best way to understand how to cache domain objects

  I've always done this wrong, I'm sure a lot of others have too, hold a reference via a map and write through to DB etc.. I need to do this right, and I just don't know how to go about it. I know how I want my objects to be cached but not sure on how to achieve it. What complicates things is that I need to do this for a legacy system where the DB can change without notice to my application. So in the context of a web application, let's say I have a WidgetService which has several methods: Widget getWidget(); Collection<Widget> getAllWidgets(); Collection<Widget> getWidgetsByCategory(String categoryCode); Collection<Widget> getWidgetsByContainer(Integer parentContainer); Collection<Widget> getWidgetsByStatus(String status); Given this, I could decide to cache by method signature, i.e. getWidgetsByCategory("AA") would have a single cache entry, or I could cache widgets individually, which would be difficult I believe; OR, a call to any method would then first cache ALL widgets with a call to getAllWidgets() but getAllWidgets() would produce caches that match all the keys for the other method invocations. For example, take the following untested theoretical code. Using this I have the benefit of being able to cache all objects in the different ways they will be called with only single objects on the heap, whereas if I were to cache the method call invocation via say Spring It would (I believe) cache multiple copies of the objects. I really wish to try and understand the best ways to cache domain objects before I go down the wrong path and make it harder for myself later. I have read the documentation on the Ehcache website and found various articles of interest, but nothing to give a good solid technique. Since I'm working with an ERP system, some DB calls are very complicated, not that the DB is slow, but the business representation of the domain objects makes it very clumsy, coupled with the fact that there are actually 11 different DB's where information can be contained that this application is consolidating in a single view, this makes caching quite important.

• Reliable strtotime() result for different languages

  There was always a strange bug in Joomla when adding new article with back-end displayed with a language other than English (for me it's Russian). The field "Finish Publishing" started to be current date instead of "Never" equivalent in Russian. For a site in php4 finally found that strtotime function returns different results for arbitrary words. For "Never" it always -1 and joomla relies on this result in the JDate implementation. But in other case it sometimes returns a valid date. For russian translation of Never (???????) it is the case, but also for single "N" it is the case, so if one decided to change the string to some other he or she would face the same issue. • GMF - programmatically create connections without commands

  Hi I am developing an graphical editor with GMF and want to create a set of nodes (Resources in my project) and connections between them upon intialization of a new diagram. I do not want to use commands here because without the code is much slimmer, easier to read and also faster it seems to me. There is no problem creating nodes by calling my XXXFactory.eInstance.createResource() and adding them to the diagram model. My connection is contained as source-/targetConnections feature in the resource class. So I added a similarly created connection as source/target to the resources. But it will not show up in the diagram even though it exists in the ResourceImpl structural feature. Maybe I need to add it additionally to the diagram but since its contained by a feature contained by the diagram, I dont know how. Am i doing something wrong or missing something or is it just not possible to do this without commands. Any help would be much appreciated. Sample code is below. The output of it is the two nodes but no connection. I would have thought that it would be defined in your web/app server using JNDI and then look up the JNDI reference in your Java code?
