  • showDialog in Activity not displaying dialog

    - by Mohit Deshpande
    Here is my code: public class TasksList extends ListActivity { ... private static final int COLUMNS_DIALOG = 7; private static final int ORDER_DIALOG = 8; ... /** * @see android.app.Activity#onCreateDialog(int) */ @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { Dialog dialog; final String[] columns; Cursor c = managedQuery(Tasks.CONTENT_URI, null, null, null, null); columns = c.getColumnNames(); final String[] order = { "Ascending", "Descending" }; switch (id) { case COLUMNS_DIALOG: AlertDialog.Builder columnDialog = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); columnDialog.setSingleChoiceItems(columns, -1, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) { bundle.putString("column", columns[which]); } }); dialog = columnDialog.create(); case ORDER_DIALOG: AlertDialog.Builder orderDialog = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); orderDialog.setSingleChoiceItems(order, -1, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) { String orderS; if (order[which].equalsIgnoreCase("Ascending")) orderS = "ASC"; else orderS = "DESC"; bundle.putString("order", orderS); } }); dialog = orderDialog.create(); default: dialog = null; } return dialog; } /** * @see android.app.Activity#onOptionsItemSelected(android.view.MenuItem) */ @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { switch (item.getItemId()) { case SORT_MENU: showDialog(COLUMNS_DIALOG); showDialog(ORDER_DIALOG); String orderBy = bundle.getString("column") + bundle.getString("order"); Cursor tasks = managedQuery(Tasks.CONTENT_URI, projection, null, null, orderBy); adapter = new TasksAdapter(this, tasks); getListView().setAdapter(adapter); break; case FILTER_MENU: break; } return false; } The showDialog doesn't display the dialog. I used the Debugger and it does executes these statements, but the dialog doesn't show. }

  • How can I get distinct values using Linq to NHibernate?

    - by Chris
    I've been trying to get distinct values using Linq to NHibernate and I'm failing miserably. I've tried: var query = from requesters in _session.Linq<Requesters>() orderby requesters.Requestor ascending select requesters; return query.Distinct(); As well as var query = from requesters in _session.Linq<Requesters>() orderby requesters.Requestor ascending select requesters; return query.Distinct(new RequestorComparer()); Where RequestorComparer is public class RequestorComparer : IEqualityComparer<Requesters> { #region IEqualityComparer<Requesters> Members bool IEqualityComparer<Requesters>.Equals(Requesters x, Requesters y) { //return x.RequestorId.Value.Equals(y.RequestorId.Value); return ((x.RequestorId == y.RequestorId) && (x.Requestor == y.Requestor)); } int IEqualityComparer<Requesters>.GetHashCode(Requesters obj) { return obj.RequestorId.Value.GetHashCode(); } #endregion } No matter how I structure the syntax, it never seems to hit the .Distinct(). Without .Distinct() there are multiple duplicates by default in the table I'm querying, on order of 195 total records but there should only be 22 distinct values returned. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but would greatly appreciate any assistance that can be provided. Thanks

  • Ninety-Fifth Percentile Calculation for Bandwidth

    - by Kyle Brandt
    I am trying to calculate the bandwidth of my current internet connection. I am pulling the current input and output transfer rate via snmp. If the argument to the following function is a sorted ascending list of the the some of each input and output sample, is this the right way to calculate 95th percentile? sub ninetyFifth { #Expects Sorted Data my $ninetyFifthLine = (@_ * .95) - 1; return $_[$ninetyFifthLine]; }

  • Is there a way to sort digits within a cell?

    - by Iszi
    I'd like to know if there's an Excel Function, or a formula, that can be used to sort digits within a cell. For example, if the value of A1 is 6193254807 and B1 has our formula with parameters set to sort ascending then B1 should equal 0123456789 (leading zero included). Of course, if the parameters were set so that it would sort descending then B1 should equal 9876543210. Is there a way to do this, without wandering into VBScript, or macros, or something similarly exotic?

  • Merging multiple Google calendar feeds into one JSON object in javascript

    - by Jeramy
    I am trying to bring in the JSON feeds from multiple Google calendars so that I can sort the upcoming events and display the next X number in an "Upcoming Events" list. I have this working with Yahoo! pipes but I want to get away from using a 3rd party to aggregate. I think I am close, but I cannot get the JSON objects created correctly. I am getting the data into the array but not in JSON format, so I can't manipulate it. I have tried var myJsonString = JSON.stringify(JSONData); using https://github.com/douglascrockford/JSON-js but that just threw errors. I suspect because my variable is in the wrong starting format. I have tried just calling the feed like: $.getJSON(url); and creating a function concant1() to do the JSONData=JSONData.concat(data);, but it doesn't fire and I think it would produce the same end result anyway. I have also tried several other methods of getting the end result I want with varying degrees of doom. Here is the closest I have come so far: var JSONData = new Array(); var urllist = ["https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/dg61asqgqg4pust2l20obgdl64%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1","https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/5oc3kvp7lnu5rd4krg2skcu2ng%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1","http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/rine4umu96kl6t46v4fartnho8%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1"]; urllist.forEach(function addFeed(url){ alert("The URL being used: "+ url); if (void 0 != JSONData){JSONData=JSONData.concat($.getJSON(url));} else{JSONData = $.getJSON(url);} alert("The count from concantonated JSONData: "+JSONData.length); }); document.write("The final count from JSONData: "+JSONData.length+"<p>"); console.log(JSONData) UPDATE: Now with full working source!! :) If anyone would like to make suggestions on how to improve the code's efficiency it would be gratefully accepted. I hope others find this useful.: // GCal MFA - Google Calendar Multiple Feed Aggregator // Useage: GCalMFA(CIDs,n); // Where 'CIDs' is a list of comma seperated Google calendar IDs in the format: [email protected], and 'n' is the number of results to display. // While the contained console.log(); outputs are really handy for testing, you will probably waant to remove them for regular usage // Author: Jeramy Kruser - http://jeramy.kruser.me //onerror=function (d, f, g){alert (d+ "\n"+ f+ "\n");} if (!window.console) {console = {log: function() {}};} document.body.className += ' js-enabled'; // Global variables var urllist = []; var maxResults = 3; // The default is 3 results unless a value is sent var JSONData = {}; var eventCount = 0; var errorLog = ""; JSONData = { count: 0, value : { description: "Aggregates multiple Google calendar feeds into a single sorted list", generator: "StackOverflow communal coding - Thanks for the assist Patrick M", website: "http://jeramy.kruser.me", author: "Jeramy & Kasey Kruser", items: [] }}; // For putting dates from feed into a format that can be read by the Date function for calculating event length. function parse (str) { // validate year as 4 digits, month as 01-12, and day as 01-31 str = str.match (/^(\d{4})(0[1-9]|1[0-2])(0[1-9]|[12]\d|3[01])$/); if (str) { // make a date str[0] = new Date ( + str[1], + str[2] - 1, + str[3]); // check if month stayed the same (ie that day number is valid) if (str[0].getMonth () === + str[2] - 1) { return str[0]; } } return undefined; } //For outputting to HTML function output() { var months, day_in_ms, summary, i, item, eventlink, title, calendar, where,dtstart, dtend, endyear, endmonth, endday, startyear, startmonth, startday, endmonthdayyear, eventlinktitle, startmonthday, length, curtextval, k; // Array of month names from numbers for page display. months = {'0':'January', '1':'February', '2':'March', '3':'April', '4':'May', '5':'June', '6':'July', '7':'August', '8':'September', '9':'October', '10':'November', '11':'December'}; // For use in calculating event length. day_in_ms = 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000; // Instantiate HTML Arrays. summary = []; for (i = 0; i < maxResults; i+=1 ) { //console.log("i: "+i+" < "+"maxResults: "+ maxResults); if (!(JSONData.value.items[i] === undefined)) { item = JSONData.value.items[i]; // Grabbing data for each event in the feed. eventlink = item.link[0]; title = item.title.$t; // Only display the calendar title if there is more than one calendar = ""; if (urllist.length > 1) { calendar = '<br />Calendar: <a href="https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=' + item.gd$who[0].email + '&ctz=America/New_York">' + item.author[0].name.$t + '<\/a> (<a href="https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/' + item.gd$who[0].email + '/public/basic.ics">iCal<\/a>)'; } // Grabbing event location, if entered. if ( item.gd$where[0].valueString !== "" ) { where = '<br />' + (item.gd$where[0].valueString); } else { where = (""); } // Grabbing start date and putting in form YYYYmmdd. • rsnapshot intervals in configuration file…

    - by Patrick
    A simple question about rsnapshot. In order to perform daily backups I'm going to add lines to cron in my Ubuntu. Then, why do I have also these lines in the rsnapshot.conf ? ######################################### # BACKUP INTERVALS # # Must be unique and in ascending order # # i.e. hourly, daily, weekly, etc. # ######################################### interval hourly 6 interval daily 7 interval weekly 4 #interval monthly 3 If I use cron, should I disable them ? thanks ps. I've just realized that in the crontab I still have "hourly" and "daily". Should I then uncomment only the one I use in the crontab ? And what's the point to specify hourly if it is already specified in cron ? I'm a bit confused. # crontab -e 0 */4 * * * /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot hourly 30 23 * * * /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot daily

  • Sort Data in Windows Phone using Collection View Source

    - by psheriff
    When you write a Windows Phone application you will most likely consume data from a web service somewhere. If that service returns data to you in a sort order that you do not want, you have an easy alternative to sort the data without writing any C# or VB code. You use the built-in CollectionViewSource object in XAML to perform the sorting for you. This assumes that you can get the data into a collection that implements the IEnumerable or IList interfaces.For this example, I will be using a simple Product class with two properties, and a list of Product objects using the Generic List class. Try this out by creating a Product class as shown in the following code:public class Product {  public Product(int id, string name)   {    ProductId = id;    ProductName = name;  }  public int ProductId { get; set; }  public string ProductName { get; set; }}Create a collection class that initializes a property called DataCollection with some sample data as shown in the code below:public class Products : List<Product>{  public Products()  {    InitCollection();  }  public List<Product> DataCollection { get; set; }  List<Product> InitCollection()  {    DataCollection = new List<Product>();    DataCollection.Add(new Product(3,        "PDSA .NET Productivity Framework"));    DataCollection.Add(new Product(1,        "Haystack Code Generator for .NET"));    DataCollection.Add(new Product(2,        "Fundamentals of .NET eBook"));    return DataCollection;  }}Notice that the data added to the collection is not in any particular order. Create a Windows Phone page and add two XML namespaces to the Page.xmlns:scm="clr-namespace:System.ComponentModel;assembly=System.Windows"xmlns:local="clr-namespace:WPSortData"The 'local' namespace is an alias to the name of the project that you created (in this case WPSortData). The 'scm' namespace references the System.Windows.dll and is needed for the SortDescription class that you will use for sorting the data. Create a phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources section in your Windows Phone page that looks like the following:<phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>  <local:Products x:Key="products" />  <CollectionViewSource x:Key="prodCollection"      Source="{Binding Source={StaticResource products},                       Path=DataCollection}">    <CollectionViewSource.SortDescriptions>      <scm:SortDescription PropertyName="ProductName"                           Direction="Ascending" />    </CollectionViewSource.SortDescriptions>  </CollectionViewSource></phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>The first line of code in the resources section creates an instance of your Products class. The constructor of the Products class calls the InitCollection method which creates three Product objects and adds them to the DataCollection property of the Products class. Once the Products object is instantiated you now add a CollectionViewSource object in XAML using the Products object as the source of the data to this collection. A CollectionViewSource has a SortDescriptions collection that allows you to specify a set of SortDescription objects. Each object can set a PropertyName and a Direction property. As you see in the above code you set the PropertyName equal to the ProductName property of the Product object and tell it to sort in an Ascending direction.All you have to do now is to create a ListBox control and set its ItemsSource property to the CollectionViewSource object. The ListBox displays the data in sorted order by ProductName and you did not have to write any LINQ queries or write other code to sort the data!<ListBox    ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource prodCollection}}"   DisplayMemberPath="ProductName" />SummaryIn this blog post you learned that you can sort any data without having to change the source code of where the data comes from. Simply feed the data into a CollectionViewSource in XAML and set some sort descriptions in XAML and the rest is done for you! This comes in very handy when you are consuming data from a source where the data is given to you and you do not have control over the sorting.NOTE: You can download this article and many samples like the one shown in this blog entry at my website. http://www.pdsa.com/downloads. Perhaps there are a few more steps between 49 semi-autonomous quadcopters doing a little aerial dancing and Skynet, but we’re awed and apprehensive at the same time. Check out the video to see them in action. The video comes to us courtesy of a German art conference, Ars Electronica, and a colloboration between two design groups Futurelab and Ascending Technologies GmbH. The above video is just their warmup routine; according to YouTube comments they’ll be uploading even more videos of the quadcopters and their synchronized night flights in the coming days. • How to properly express programming proficiency in CV?

    - by Pouya
    I'm rewriting my CV and I have a very hard time to express my programming skills in an honest matter while not underrating myself. How would you classify programming skill in four or five levels from complete beginner to god-like? For sake of argument, let us consider C++. What words would you use to present your programming skills? For example who is an expert in C++ or which word has a higher impact: Expert vs. Experienced? Could you suggest me 5 words like above in ascending order? P.S. I was planning to ask this question in Academia.SE, however, at the end I realized that I want to know programmers answer to the question.

  • C# Timers for game development

    - by Valentin
    Hi, all! I want to find out the best way of creating time based events in games. Lets talk for example about Texas Holdem Poker. Server can handle thousands of tables and in every table we have timers: turn timer, hold seat timer and so on. What is the best way of timers realization for this purpose? Is System.Timers.Timer class can handle this or it will be more reasonable to create a separate thread with sorted time queue (for example an ascending sorted list with int values which represent time in ms remained)? Thanks in advance, Valentin

  • How can I make my generic comparer (IComparer) handle nulls? [closed]

    - by Nick G
    Hi, I'm trying to write a generic object comparer for sorting, but I have noticed it does not handle the instance where one of the values it's comparing is null. When an object is null, I want it to treat it the same as the empty string. I've tried setting the null values to String.Empty but then I get an error of "Object must be of type String" when calling CompareTo() on it. public int Compare(T x, T y) { PropertyInfo propertyInfo = typeof(T).GetProperty(sortExpression); IComparable obj1 = (IComparable)propertyInfo.GetValue(x, null); IComparable obj2 = (IComparable)propertyInfo.GetValue(y, null); if (obj1 == null) obj1 = String.Empty; // This doesn't work! if (obj2 == null) obj2 = String.Empty; // This doesn't work! if (SortDirection == SortDirection.Ascending) return obj1.CompareTo(obj2); else return obj2.CompareTo(obj1); } I'm pretty stuck with this now! Any help would be appreciated.

  • vb.net using SortedDictionary as combobox datasource

    - by user228058
    I have a combobox which i am binding to a sortedDictionary list, so it displays in ascending order. My question is, I need to display "--Select--" as the first option. Is there any way to either: 1) add another item besides for the datasource or 2) add an unsorted item to the top of the sortedDictionary any other ideas welcome as well :) TIA

  • NSPredicate problem with fetchedResultsController

    - by RyJ
    Please help! I've been trying to figure this out for way too long. I can't seem to use an NSPredicate in my fetchedResultsController method: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)fetchedResultsController { if (fetchedResultsController != nil) return fetchedResultsController; NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Tweet" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat: @"column == 0"]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; [fetchRequest setReturnsObjectsAsFaults:NO]; [fetchRequest setFetchBatchSize:20]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"created_at" ascending:NO]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; self.fetchedResultsController = aFetchedResultsController; [aFetchedResultsController release]; [fetchRequest release]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; return fetchedResultsController; } Yet, in another method, where I simply check to see if an object exists, the predicate works like a charm: - (BOOL)findObjectWithKey:(NSString *)key andValue:(NSString *)value sortBy:(NSString *)sort { NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Tweet" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [request setEntity:entity]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat: @"%K == %@", key, value]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; [request setReturnsObjectsAsFaults:NO]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:sort ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:request managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; NSError *error = nil; NSArray *result = [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:request error:&error]; [aFetchedResultsController release]; [request release]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; if ((result != nil) && ([result count]) && (error == nil)) { return TRUE; } else { return FALSE; }} What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

  • Core Data: NSFetchRequest sorting by count of to-many relationship

    - by Ben Reeves
    Say I have an parent entity, each of which have a number of children. I want to get all the parents sorted by their number of children. Something similar to the following pseudo code: NSEntityDescription * entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Parent" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"children.count" ascending:NO]; //Execute request Is there a way construct a fetch like this using core data? Thanks, Ben
